My wife and I devoted the second week of our honeymoon to Century's Western Caribbean cruise
departing Fort Lauderdale on June 10, 2000. We booked a sky suite on deck 12(Cabin 1218) and
don't regret a dime we spent.

As we spent the first week of our honeymoon at the beach, we drove to the port from Pompano
Beach Saturday morning and therefore cannot comment on how Celebrity handled folks at the
airport. We can comment that they handled everything else in a first class fashion. Embarkation was
painless and fast-we were in our cabin by 12:45 p.m. and having lunch in the Islands Café by 1:00.

The food was great. The service was excellent. The ship was spotless. We had butler service that
came with our suite and what a treat this was. Our butler, Lawrence Fernandez from India, attended
to our every need. - breakfast served tableside in our suite at the precise time we requested,
reserving and delivering to our suite tickets for our requested shore excursions, summons the ship
tailor to our cabin when my tuxedo was a little too long in the sleeves, and even arranging a private
visit with the crew on the navigational bridge of the ship. On the evenings we opted to have dinner in
our suite Lawrence served our meals in the same manner as in the restaurant – one course at a time
instead of the typical room service treatment of bringing all of the food at the same time.

We enjoyed all of the shore excursions. In Ocho Rios we took the ‘San-San’ yacht cruise to Dunn’s
River Falls where we climbed the Falls – after the climb time was allotted for snorkeling and partying
on the boat before we returned to the dock.

In Grand Cayman we of course tried the Stingray City snorkeling and what an incredible experience
this was. We took the 10:30 trip but if we had to do again we would recommend the 7:30 departure
because there are fewer crowds and the stingrays are more active because they are hungry earlier
in the day.

In Cozumel we rode on the Mermaid glass bottom boat and this turned out to be quite an enjoyable
experience. This is a new boat that is comfortably air-conditioned and the underwater views are
breathtaking. Cozumel is the port where we did the most shopping. Prices and selection were both
very good. Celebrity did a great job in briefing the passengers on where and where not to shop here
and in all of the ports. In fact, I recall while we were in Jamaica my wife and I were looking at a
tanzanite bracelet in a local jewelry store and looked up to find a Celebrity representative on hand to
advise us on the jewelry piece as well the reputation of the jeweler.

At Key West we rode the Conch Train and visited the Aquarium and the shipwreck museum. This was
ok but if we returned I think we would skip the excursions and just stroll around on our own – there
are lots of places to party in Key West. One word to the wise on all of these shore excursions: take
some petty cash along because all of these guides expect to be tipped for helping you have a good
time. No one was pushy about the tipping but I pass this along because we weren’t advised about this
ahead of time and fortunately we had some small cash on us when we took our first shore excursion
in Ocho Rios.

If you want a cruise with class and prefer to be pampered in a royal manner, go with Celebrity. We
won't be cruising with any other line now that we've been spoiled.

This review encompasses our 7/22/00 cruise of the Western Caribbean onboard m/v Century.

Embarkation: This process went by slow if you get to port everglades late. If you get there early, it
blows by fast. We got embarkation #5 of 20, so we were on the ship by 1:45. In contrast, people were
still boarding at 3:30. Suite passengers and Captains Club members board first.

Things to do first: Once you're on the ship, you have two options. If you are hungry, there is a
welcome aboard buffet at the islands cafe on deck 11. If you aren't hungry, go ahead and look for
your cabin. Your luggage arrives at your cabin fairly fast. Once you have found your cabin and had
lunch, go ahead and explore the ship. (FYI, decks 8, 9, and 10 are all cabins).

Day 1: Fort Lauderdale By now you should more or less know where everything is. If you don't, they
have deck plans everywhere you look, so you're never lost. Main Seating Dinner starts at 6:15(6:00
on formal nights), while late seating is 8:45(8:30 formal). The beauty of the grand restraunt is very
nice, it impressed us very much. Every waiter is very nice, as is the maitre'd and busboy. We had the
pleasure of the waiter Metin, and Busboy Frank. These two people are very nice and in our opinion
are the best in the dining room. All dinners have 5 courses, but if you like you can opt for less. There
are low fat, vegetarian, and kosher menus as well as the normal one. All the food is great (even the
escargot, try it!). Once dinner is done, there is a little time to change before the show. Despite what
you may have heard, the shows are really good. They always have a welcome aboard variety show,
which is the worst show (not that it was bad, but not as good as the others). Once the show is over,
there are many late night activities.

Day 2: At Sea When I got up that morning and read the 'Century Daily', I was overwhelmed by the
amount of activities. Before they started though, we went to breakfast. This was the one-day we ate
in the dining room for breakfast, and we were impressed by the selection, though it never changes.
We then did some morning activities, such as bingo, trivia, pool basketball, etc. We then went to eat
lunch in Islands. This was the only thing that I consider bad on the ship. I'm not a fan of salads, which
was half the buffet, or having 'beef ester hazy' or veal for lunch. Thank goodness there was a hot
dog/hamburger line outside. At 3:00, pizza is served, so noone every went hungry. Afternoon
activities are very fun, and you can do just about anything. In the evening there was a very good Las
Vegas style show, along with the other late night activities.

Day 3: Ocho Rios, Jamaica When we got up, we had a very enjoyable breakfast in Islands. They
have something for everybody there. After that, we got off the ship at our first port of call. We went to
Dunn's River falls, and we agree it is a MUST DO! Anybody can do it except babies, seniors and
handicapped. Very fun and refreshing excursion. We didn't go into town though; we just went back to
the ship. There naturally weren't very many activities, but we still had fun. In the evening, we had a
good dinner, followed by the best show, Noodles Levenstein, a comedian much like Jerry Seinfeld. He
may or may not be on your cruise, if he is you're in for a good time.

Day 4: Georgetown, Grand Cayman Islands We got up bright and early for our 7:30 excursion to
Stingray City (they have other times). If you go early the stingrays are more hungry that in the
afternoon. Stingray City is a must do, very interesting and neat. We ate lunch on the ship, another
poor one at Islands, then went back to do some shopping. This is the shopping port; so if you want to
shop don't miss out. I got some real Oakley sunglasses for a good price at da sunglasses hut, so if
you're interested go there. Very nice prices on anything. Again, dinner and show at night were very
good.

Day 5: Cozumel/Playa Del Carmen, Mexico We booked no excursion for this port, but if you want to
there are plenty of them. This is a boring city other that Carlos and Charley's. Every other store is
jewelry, so if you like jewels this is your place. We got bored about 1:00, and that's when we
discovered the casino. We thought we'd lose money, but we ended up gaining 15.00. If you like slots,
go to the one farthest forward on the right side. Its name is Red, White, and Blue, or something like
that. Tonight they have an exceptionally good show, Rich Snichker. Rich is a comedian/juggler, and
is very talented, not to be missed if he's on your cruise.

Day 6: At Sea Very similar to day 2, except tonight is the captain's gala dinner, with prime rib and
lobster, among other things. Tonight also is the baked Alaska parade, so you really don't get much of
a dessert choice. Show tonight was the only Broadway style, and it was very good.

Day 7: Key West, Florida It was very hot in the Keys, but we still shopped. Very similar to Hawaii,
except Key West has very bad beaches. Not much to do excursion wise, but shopping will keep you
occupied. Not to miss is the Key Lime Shoppe, very good Key Lime food, not just pie. For pet lovers,
they have a shop called 'the blue cat', which shouldn't be omitted by pet fans. The farewell variety
show was better than the welcome aboard show. Tonight we went to sleep; very sad this was our last
night.

Day 8: Disembarkation Today, if you flew to Ft. Lauderdale/Miami, you will meet with your airline at
6:30. After that, you eat breakfast and wait for your color to be called off the ship. If you have a good
book, it will pass quickly. We were off the ship at 10:00, and our best vacation was over (better even
than our first cruise on HAL Veendam). What we didn't like is our 8 hours of flight delays, hope that
doesn't happen to you :). Hope you found this helpful, if you need more info, such as cabin details

MV Century:

Cruise vacations are so exciting that my wife and I never tire of reading about other’s cruise
experiences or writing about our own. This is such a great forum to read testimonials about lines
and ships.

We have just returned from a relaxing 7 day trip aboard Celebrity’s CENTURY. We chose this line
as we are past Celebrity cruisers and have thoroughly enjoyed each trip. Celebrity really knows
how to host a vacation.

Since we have family in the South Florida area we did not use the Air/Sea package and opted to
drive from Atlanta and arrive a couple of days ahead of time.

EMBARKATION:

Port Everglades has made vast improvements on their piers for passenger ships. The facilities are
spacious in the waiting areas with ample seating. We arrived at the terminal near 12:00 and only
waited in the lower terminal less than 20 minutes. Being members of the Captain’s Club (past
Celebrity cruisers and a nominal fee) we were able to get priority boarding once inside the terminal
and were moved to the document verification area to receive our boarding passes. At this stop you
activate your on-board charge card(s) and they are waiting for you in your cabin by the time you
get there. The next stop was the upper waiting area where we waited only another 30 minutes
before we were called to board the ship.

We were greeted at the head of the gangway by a ship’s officer and he in turn handed our cabin
card to another staff member who then escorted directly to our cabin on the Vista Deck. A very
smooth transition as Celebrity has boarding down to a very workable science, much better than
other lines.

From past experience, we have learned to pack a small carry-on bag with our bathing suits
because vacation begins as soon as you board and your luggage may be a little while in getting to
your cabin.

THE SHIP:

What can you say? She is beautiful even though she is four years old. The crew constantly
maintains all aspects of the vessel at all times. Everything works the way it should. No broken
elevators/escalators, etc.

Our cabin (inside Vista Deck 9025) was more than adequate for myself, my wife and our two
daughters (ages 8 and 13) plus all of our luggage. Closet space was more than enough except
there were not enough hangars available in them. There were also plenty of drawers available for
other essentials throughout the cabin. We were able to use room service each morning for coffee
and juice before going up on deck and it arrived right on time each day. Afternoon room service
was no less than impressive. Sandwiches, pizza, and a dessert ordered on our interactive
television arrived within the 15 minute time-frame indicated on the menu.

Our cabin steward(ess) was efficient in keeping us in order. She was very quiet and actually
blended into the area. We never really saw her but benefited from her constant presence.

People have complained about having a cabin so far forward that the noise of the anchor dropping
was disruptive but we never found this to be a problem. Maybe it was that we were so much higher
on the ship that this was not a problem for us. However, from this location the motion of the ship is
a little exaggerated in rough seas. We find the gentle rolling of the ship to be part of the charm of a
cruise vacation and actually look forward to the experience.

THE ITINERARY:

The MV Century alternates between the Eastern and Western Caribbean islands each week. We
chose the Eastern as we have come to enjoy this itinerary over the Western islands and this trip
included a stop in San Juan, an area our kids had not visited yet. Additionally, we enjoyed the
number of days at sea, the more the merrier for us. Other stops included St. Thomas, St. Maarten,
and Nassau, another island for our kids.

Due to some severe weather in South Florida, several flights were delayed in arriving on time and
the ship’s departure was consequently delayed some 90 minutes. Again, no big deal as we would
still make San Juan on schedule by Monday afternoon as assured by the Captain.

Late Sunday evening during the Captain’s cocktail party he announced we had a medical
emergency on board earlier in the day and we were making for an island that was about 6 hours off
course to meet a Coast Guard Helicopter for an aerial rescue. This of course would put us arriving
in San Juan at or about 11:00pm. The bright side, the medical emergency stabilized and they were
able to stay on the ship until we arrived in San Juan.

One thing is for sure, the folks of San Juan don’t care that there will be 2,000 people descending
on their shops when the ship comes in. The town (Old Town) was locked up tight by our 10:30
arrival. There wasn’t much to do so we got off and walked along the waterfront with our girls and
other passengers for an hour or so. The ship left the port at 1:30am. So much for San Juan.
Maybe next year.

St. Thomas is always one of our favorite stops. My wife has found a jeweler that we visit each time
and he has given us some remarkable bargains over the last few years. Our oldest daughter is
now caught in the web as they know her tastes and they are able to cater to her limited financial
holdings!

First things, first though. Early morning we are off the ship, in a cab and headed for Red Hook to
catch a ferry to St. John. We have compared the ship’s excursion to this location and our ability to
arrange our own transportation and we come out ahead doing it ourselves. The cab from the dock
to Red Hook is 4.00 per person. The ferry tickets round-trip to St. John were another 6.00 per
person. The taxi ride from the ferry dock to Trunk Bay and back was another 6.00 per person. We
were able to make the trip to St. John and back for a family of four for a total of 80.00.

Word of caution! Be aware of holidays and other local celebrations when arriving on islands that
are far removed from the ship. When we arrived on St. John it was early in the morning and we
were some of the first to arrive at Trunk Bay. This has to be one of the most serene locations we
have been to. Very remote and under utilized. There may have been only 100 people or less
during our stay there.

As I said, be aware of the holidays. We arrived on St. John on the 4th of July. No big deal, right?
Wow, what a mistake. When we boarded a taxi for the trip from Trunk Bay to the ferry pier, our
driver told us he might not be able to make it all the way back to the pier as they had the streets
closed for a parade that was in progress. He could get us within a mile or so of our destination and
we would have to walk the rest of the way. He wasn’t kidding! We literally hit a roadblock and had to
leave the comfort of our ride and actually become part of the parade. We strolled among marching
bands, baton twirlers, clowns and other celebrants in our attempt to make it back to the pier. To top
it off, it seemed that every inhabitant from every island in the Caribbean was there to watch the
parade. It was time to panic as we were thrust into this crowd with no real direction as to where the
pier was except for the directions given to us by our cab driver which were nothing more than, ‘walk
that way to the pier.’ We made it, but had to wait another forty minutes for a ferry to take us back to
St. Thomas. Visitors to St. John should plan for an hour of travel each way from the ship to Trunk
Bay and surrounding areas. This will give you plenty of time to make boarding the ship when you
are supposed to.

Our next stop is St. Maarten, another neat place to visit. In past trips here, we have found a nice
little secluded beach on Little Bay. The water is crystal clear, smooth, and the beach is never really
crowded. It is a short taxi ride from the tender pier. This beach is open to the public, but not too
many choose to visit. They prefer the others such as Orient Beach and the like. However, on this
occasion we are disappointed to find the beach is still suffering from a recent hurricane. The sand
is eroded and full of sharp coral and shells. You need a pair of water shoes to enter the water. On
the positive side, we were able to rent a personal watercraft for a very reasonable 40.00 for a
half-hour, and we were the only ones in the water at the time. We like the seclusion as you can tell.
Another day at sea and we arrive in Nassau. When we pull into the harbor at 1:00pm, we are the
fourth ship in port! What’s the adage, two’s company, three’s a crowd. Again, there is not much to
see in Nassau or on Paradise Island so we opt to let the girls shop some and not take our chances
getting too far from port.

We did find the liquor prices were very comparable to those in the U.S.V.I but you are limited in
quantity purchased on the duty-free status.

FOOD/MEALS:

We were impressed with all aspects here. We always elected to eat breakfast in the Islands Café
on deck 11. The selection is standard fare for breakfast with a nice selection of specialty items and
custom omlettes available each day.

Lunch is a nice buffet assortment along with grilled items out by the pool. Fresh fruit and desserts
are available here as well.

The dining room food is what Celebrity is famous for. Each evening we were treated like and fed
like kings, queens, and princesses by our waiter, his assistant, and the restaurant manager. The
food was outstanding and presented very well. As an added bonus we have not found on other
ships, they had a children’s menu for our 8 year old. This contained smaller portions of our menu
items in addition to burgers, fries, sandwiches and the like. After the first night, our assistant waiter
made sure our girls had a big glass of chocolate milk in front of their seats before we arrived. They
really took to the girls and fussed over them all week.

OTHER AMENITIES:

Our girls participated in the kid’s programs for their age groups. They made new friends and have
continued those friendships through e-mail. We were pleased with the amount of activities they had
planned for the kids. It appeared that several people enrolled their kids each day. They came
home with plenty of memories of their vacation.

For us, Celebrity has always provided a first-class vacation experience. The ships are always clean
and well maintained, the staff are always positive and eager to assist, and the food is second to
none in our opinion. A cruise on any of the Celebrity ships, especially the Century, is money well
spent. We are already planning next year’s cruise back to the Eastern Caribbean!

Questions and comments are always appreciated and welcome.

Happy sailing!!

After many cruises on Royal Caribbean we decided to try Celebrity. We had done the Western
Caribbean twice before so we mainly were attracted to the ship and the pricing. We arranged our
own air however, we did purchase tickets for transportation from the Ft. Lauderdale Airport to the
pier. Upon arrival we expected to be greeted by representatives from the cruise line. We saw every
other cruise line waiting except Celebrity. A little disillusioned I checked the info packet and called
the number listed for information. Was put on permanent hold with frequent messages saying your
call is very important please remain on hold. After 10 minutes of waiting and really not feeling very
important I became frustrated and hung up. I saw a Carnival Cruise greeter and ask her if she had
any idea how to find Celebrity reps. She was very polite and actually took us to a Celbrity rep near
baggage claim. I asked the Celebrity rep, Margaret, why we were not greeted and she very rudely
told us we were not on her magic list and that we were not suppose to be greeted since we
arranged our own air. I told her that we had vouchers for transport to the peir and should have
been met. She wanted to debate that we were not really on the flight we had just arrive on and
since I just got off the plane I was ready to argue. Bottom line, just about now I was wishing we were
booked on RCCL or were going with the nice lady from Carnival. First impressions are very
important. All that being said, that was the worst part of the cruise.

Upon arrival at the pier the embarkation was a little slow, however, once on the Century we were
very pleased with her beauty. Upon arrival in our cabin we were greeted by the smell of cigarette
smoke, uck. Called and complained and the cabin steward show up with a can of spray that did
help alot. I had purchased an anniversary package which included flowers, robes, candy, etc which
should have been waiting in the room. This was suppose to be a surprise for my lovely wife.
Nothing was there!!!! I was in hot water, 22 years of marriage and no present. While my wife was in
the shower I troted up to the desk and was told they were still delivering the packages. Later while I
was in the shower getting ready for dinner, they delivered the package to the room and made my
wife sign the bill. Oh well, so much for being romantic. However, we were very pleased with the
beautiful flowers, the robes, and the rest of the package. good value. The cabin was much more
spacious and appealing than other ships I had sailed. The light wood paneling was beautiful and
the bathroom and shower was larger.

The food on the ship was very good with lots of variety. The presentation was good and we were at
a table with 3 other couples and had a wonderful time although the age range was very diverse.
The breakfast on the Lido was excellent as was the lunches we had there.

The entertainment in the lounges was fairly good although the local dance troupe was a bit
amaturish. (RCCL has much better entertainment).

The decks were spacious and the chairs by the pool had nice padded covers, much better for
snoozing by the pool. Bar service was adequate and the entertainment poolside was okay but not
exceptional.

All things said, I definitely would sail on Celebrity again if it is competitively priced with RCCL or
Princess. However, the better get rid of Margaret, the greeter from hell.
