I would like to give a brief background of me to give you a reference to read this review.
I am a Michigan State Alumnus, class of 74,own and run a home improvement business in the
greater Orlando area. My wife teaches high school and we have been on 13 cruises with 8
different cruise lines.
We arrived by our own transportation to the port about 1:45 and we were escorted to our room by 2:00. Since we are members of the Captains Club we received priority embarkation, disembarkation as well as an invitation to two private cocktail parties. If you plan on cruising with Celebrity I recommend the $35.00 investment for the Captain Club. The room was the largest we have had except for the rooms on the Carnival ships. We had three teenagers with us so they brought in a roll out bed at night so the floor was wall to wall bunks. The closet space was ample and the bathroom adequate. The room was well insulated so we heard nothing from the outside. The TVšs in the rooms are interactive so you can review your charge balance, order wine for future meals, and even gamble in your room.
The strongest point of both Celebrity cruises we have been on is the dining experience. I was delighted with a choice of three soups at our evening meal. They were all exceptional. The food presentation was the best of any ship we have been on. From the arrangement of the vegetables, such as the hand made potato baskets, to the sinful deserts made the meals a memorable experience. Darren Ede, our maitreš d came to our table every lunch and dinner meal to make sure we were well taken care of. Some of you probably have been on cruises where the maitreš d doesnšt show up until the last night. Aksu Recep, our wine steward showed me the dinner menu at lunch and made suggestions for an appropriate selection depending what I selected for my dinner entree. Our water glasses were never empty, Gabriel Cruz our busboy paid close attention to the kids needs. Sergio Matias, our waiter always suggested the the best desserts and always explained what coming on the midnight buffet. The only problem I had was the one night my steak came overcooked and Sergio took it back and the next one was overcooked and he quickly returned with the third one that was perfect. He handled it in professional and expedite manor. My wife was happy that she was given a sugar free version of one of the desserts instead of plain ice cream that is she has received on other ships.
The casino is not as active as the carnival ships, but has generous blackjack rules if you care to indulge. One is allowed to split any pair, including aces 4 times as well as double down on any two cards. The staff in the casino are all very friendly. If you like a cigar after dinner, Michaelšs club offers refuge from the ships activities with hand rolled Cuban seeded cigars with a choice of Cognacs. This intimate room has rich wood trim with a Picasso as the focal point. Carlos offers great conversation as well as advice on the art of cigar smoking to all. I found this to remind me of the small friendly neighborhood tavern that many might remember or frequent at home.
The entertainment on the ship was good, but was not the strongest point of the ships attributes. We were very impressed with the two musicals put on by the singers and dancers. The giant screen behind the stage is a multimedia marvel. Holly Lipton, the female vocalist has a great voice, but should leave the humor to Cary Long. He had the whole audience in hysteria with his timely delivery. I would highly suggest this excellent ship to anyone. Of all the cruises we have taken the celebrity experience is the most memorable and exceeds not only your expectations, but value compared with any ship in its price category.

We loved the Century! It was elegant, quiet and relaxing. It was good for a RELAXING
Honeymoon, which we wanted. The staff was friendly, but the activities and shore
excursions could be improved. If you're looking for a calm, relaxing vacation with plenty
of shopping opportunities then the Century's E. Caribbean itinerary is for you!

While on the cruise the cruise director was very visible. However, with the premise of a
new ship causing me to book the cruise, I was extremely disappointed with the amount of
vibration experienced while sailing. Each morning the crew would DRAG lounge chairs across
the deck above my cabin. This caused for a daily wake-up call of approximately 6am.
Furthermore, while enjoying dinner in the dining room, the ship experienced much
discomfort due to vibration. I believe this was caused by the location of the dining room
in proximity to the engine room.
During our stay on board the ammenities were satisfactory. However, once departed, it
seemed we had to rush back to the ship to disembark. There was not enough time spent in
each port of call. Once back on board, looking forward to a midnight buffet, I was
dissappointed to have to wait behind crew to eat. I was very upset to have experienced
this. Also, the bar service at poolside was not as effecient as expected.
On some positive notes Earl the bartender in the coffee bar was the very pleasent. He
truly made the cruise a very memorable one. We are still using his tricks to the delight
of our friends back home. During dinner our waiter, Chamal, was very helpful and friendly.
The busboy, Ramos, was truly the workforce of the serving team. It is unclear however,
what purpose the Maitre'D had during dinner. He seemed to come around just for his tip.
Our cabin steward was very helpful and diserves credit. I found it very nice to be able to
see your invoice prior to disembarking on the television screen. This was helpful.
In closing, I would state that the ship was experiencing some growing pains. It was very
unfortunate that I had to be the one to feel the pain along with the ship. I will have to
seriously consider whether to book another Celebrity cruise.
Sincerely,
Daniel P. Noonan

This was my second cruise aboard this ship. My family and I sailed aboard the Century
three months prior to this sailing. The previous cruise was also to the Western Caribbean,
and had Hurricane Bertha not hit, this one would have been to the Eastern Caribbean.
Although the last minute change in itinerary (last minute meaning when we arrived at the
dock for embarkation) was incredibly upsetting for my mother, who was determined not to
enjoy herself, the wonderful staff succeeded in making this cruise as good, if not better,
than the last one. I have sailed Celebrity four times now and have come to the point where
Celebrity is the only cruiseline we will use.
When I boarded the Century for the very first time in March I was overwhelmed by its size
and beauty. Everywhere you turned there was brass and glass, crystal and oak. The artwork
throughout the ship, ranging from the three violin sculptures outside of the
Cinema/Conference Centre to the crystal sculptures in the stairwells, was exquisite.
Everything was immaculate and remained that way throughout both cruises. Each morning at
sunrise, each night at sunset and everywhere in between the cleaning crew was polishing,
dusting and cleaning.
The staff on Celebrity ships are first class. The Sports Director in March, Mark Herkamp,
was excellent. I tend to be quite shy and thanks to him I was participating in everything
from virtual golfing to the pool olympics. Our waiter and busboy in March, Arek Wykowski
and Kamal Ghimiray, and in July, Kamal Ghimiray and

This was my first cruise. Thank goodness it was SUCH a positive experience! My husband and
I chose the Celebrity Line because of its good ratings on food and cleanliness. The
dinner-time food was fabulous! The service in both the dining room and cabins was first-
rate. My only complaints concern the fitness staff - I had a massage that was expensive,
and not worth it - at half the price! I had to wait over 30 min. for the masseur to show
up. Then I felt like he was pressuring me to buy skincare products. I did learn that the
fitness facilities are run by a company other than Celebrity. My husband particularly
enjoyed Michael's Room, a cigar room. I even enjoyed it! A wonderful place to relax after
dinner.

I felt after 35 cruises, this rated as one of the best! I have cruised mostly on Princess,
Royal Caribbean, and
Carnival but Celebrity has made a believer out of me! The food and service in the dining
room was excellent, as well
as the beautiful surroundings! Unlike other Caribbean lines, Celebrity does not have
"theme" nights in the dining
room. I enjoyed this as I've reached a point where I do not need entertainment between
dinner courses. The ship
itself was very well maintained and beautiful. The atrium was a little disapointing but
otherwise the ship met my
expectations. The strong points would be the AquaSpa, the Dining Room, Service and Staff.
The weak points are
entertainment, embarkation, outside decks and pools. The outdoor decks were not teak, but
a non-stick substance.
I feel a ship of this calibre should have teak decks. Also, both pools were salt water and
I felt one could have been
freshwater. Also, the pools and spas were closed and netted over at 6pm everynight. I felt
the spas should be open
at least until midnight. All these were minor flaws and certainly did not damper an
otherwise flawless cruise. I
recommend Celebrity to anyone who enjoys great service and food in wonderful surroundings.
I do not recommend
Celebrity to anyone who needs constant entertainment such as Carnival ,or who wants to
party all night for seven
days (although this is possible). All in all, a great cruise!

We enjoyed this cruise very much. The Century is a beautiful ship, immaculately clean,
with excellent service. The shore excursions were a bit of a disappointment, particularly
the so-called luxury yacht cruise to Dunn's River Falls in Jamaica- a total rip-off. The
food was good- beautifully presented, but not as outstanding as we had been led to
believe. Our dinner companions who had sailed the Century last year said the food was
better then. (Maybe some of the chefs had been transferred to the Galaxy?) The
entertainment was better than we had expected, however, and we enjoyed the shows. In spite
of the large number of passengers, we never felt crowded, and were able to find quiet
spots for reading. The deck around the pool was pretty crowded, especially on those days
we were just at sea. Overall we were impressed with Celebrity and would take another
cruise on this or another of their ships without hesitation. We felt the cruise was a very
good value for the money and it was a wonderful mid-winter break.

This was our second Celebrity cruise and it was great! I have to say that the staff is one
of the hardest working groups
of people that I have ever seen. They were always ready to serve you with a smile. We had
done this honeymmon
itinerary about a year and a half ago, but we had ran into two hurricanes and had to turn
around and lose one port and
hit San Juan and the Bahamas instead. We are glad that we were able to try it again! It
was great to be pampered in
every way poosible.
We thought that the ship rolled more than we had felt on the Zenith, but we didn't let it
spoil our great time. We also
thought the Matre'd was not very nice to his staff and only came around to accept praise
or his tip. There were also
more kids on this trip than we had expected. Several people had newborns and there were
several toddelers. The staff
did a great job keeping them busy. They had their hands full with the pre-teen boys, but
there was only one night during
the entertainment that I saw any of them become out of control.
I would reccomend this ship to anyone young or old who would like a variety of activities
and relaxation. We will be
taking another Celebrity cruise hopefully again soon!

There wer six of us on this cruise ranging in age from 37 to 68. Two were first time
cruisers and for 4 of us more
experienced cruisers thiis was our second Celebrity cruise-1st was Horizon to Bermuda in
1994. We have had 3 cruises
since the Horizon but not on Celebrity and couldn't wait to see if they would exceed our
expectations once again. And did
they ever! The first timers are now hooked! This is a beautiful ship. Celebrity has
managed to launch a mega-liner but
maintain the outstanding service and cuisine found on their smaller ships. The food is
outstanding and the service in the
dining room and other eating places is superb. We had a small suite with verandah and
butler service. The butler is
overrated, but he was nice-we just didn't need much from him. On Galaxy and Mercury you
can get the verandah without
the butler, our choice for the next cruise. Unfortunately our cabin stewardess had an
attitude, which is so unlike Celebrity,
but the service was still outstanding. Our waiter (kamal from Bombay) and bus boy were
wonderful-this was the best
dining room service yet after 8 cruises. The embarkation and disembarkation was also the
smoothest ever (the ship was
cleared by 8:30 AM). The timing of the activities on board could have been arranged better
as many overlapped, but this
was the first week for the cruise director so maybe this has been corrected. The shows
that we saw we thought were
fine, but many complained. The casino staff was great and we actually won quite a bit on
the slots-they were the loosest
of any ship yet. Overall, this was a wonderful cruise experience and the Century is
understated elegance throughout. You
will not be disappointed with the food or service. Now we see no reason to try any line
other than Celebrity and have
booked for Mercury next March.

This was my first cruise ever and I had not even heard of Celebrity before. From the time
I got on, things proceeded
smoothly. I was given my room card that was my key to my room and my charge card while
aboard. Then, I was led
to my cabin and found out that my room key did not work. I found my way back to the lobby
and got a new room
key.
I booked a single cabin in the inner ship and it was quite large. I was able to unload all
of my stuff and I liked the
pitcher of ice water and ice bucket that was on my dresser. There was sufficient material
for me to familiarize myself
with the ship and everything was simple and easy to understand.
Each morning, there was a newsletter with the agenda for the day and if we were docking
that day, an informational
page about our port of call proved most helpful. My only complaint was that it was so hot
and humid in Ocho Rios and
Grand Cayman that I got off, did my shopping and came back to my air conditioned home.
The interactive tv was very helpful to keep track of your purchases, book future shore
excursions and movies.
For entertainment, being a movie buff, I watched a lot of movies and liked the mini
theatre that they had.
The disco was also very nice and I was glad to be part of a singles group on board because
it made it easier to dance
with. Otherwise, it would have been awkward because I was afraid to ask a lady to dance
and have her husband pop in
to defend her honor.
The food was excellent in the main dining room but I found the food in the buffet ok. Even
then, after a while in
paradise, you do hunger for a Big Mac.
Overall, Celebrity deserves its 5 star rating and I would definitely sail Celebrity again.

My new husband had booked back to back cruises for our honeymoon and the Century was the
first cruise on our Itinerary. As this was my first cruise, I
have to say i had an excellent time even though there were some negative aspects. Firstly,
embarkation was very good. When you arrive at the port you
are given a number as you enter (we got number 6, and it went all the way up to 22).
Therefore, we were on the ship by 1:15 pm, and in our cabin by
1:20. The Centrum of the Century was very beautiful with stairs leading up and down to
three floors where the shops and pursers desk was located. Room
space aboard the Century was plentiful! For two people who are not that skinny, I would
have to say that we had plenty of room to walk around in our
cabin and that the bathroom was very nice and roomy too. Our room steward Joseph was very
good. He always kept our room looking fresh from when we
came back in the afternoon or evening. The only complaint that we had about his service
was that one afternoon when we had the do not disturb sign up,
he interrupted our nap to return laundry (which was very expensive!!!! so dont do it on
board). The dining room on the Century has to be one of the most
beautiful restaurants I have ever seen. Its done in a cherry wood (maybe mahogany), and at
night, when the lights are dimmed, it gives off a romantic
glow to the place. We had a table for two, and we were very pleased with our table and
waiter Rafal. He was the best service we had aboard the Century.
I found that he often covered up for his busboy, and he always had special touches that
made this trip so great. The food was gourmet. Everything was
cooked to perfection especially the meat selections. The desserts were fantastic and you
always had to try at least two a night. Unfortunatly the buffets
(with the exception of the hamburgers and hotdogs they had on the pool deck) were awful!!!
Eat only in the dining room! Also, I found the entertainment
on board with the exception of the cruise director to be very lacking. Therefore, we did
not see many shows on board the Century. The shore excursions
that the Century went to were Ocho Rios, Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Key West. In Ocho
Rios, unless you are going to Dunn River Falls or some beautiful
beach to do snorkeling....do not get off the ship!!!!! Grand Cayman is beautiful no matter
where you go but very expensive and you must do the Stingray
City excursion. Cozumel....unless you are with a tour to some ruin..the best way to see
the sights would be to rent a car and drive it around the island and
you have to go to Carlos and Charlies Bar.....try a yard around 3 pm....youll have plenty
of fun. The best excursion on the Century was the one to Key
West. You did not mind walking around this quaint town. go to the Hogs Head Saloon and try
the Death by Chocolate!! Disembarking in Ft. Lauderdale was
the same type of thing that went on when you embarked. You were given a number (we had 11
this time) and you waited. However, you were off the ship
by 1030 am no matter what number you had.
All in all, i would have to say that this was a pleasant cruise despite little problems we
had.

We had been told that Celebrity was the upscale cruise of the mass market cruises, that
the food and service was outstanding. I understand how difficult it
is to feed 2,000 people - I don't expect 4 star cuisine - but the food on this ship did
not live up to its reputation. We had no table assignment when we got
on board, we were told to go to deck 4 at 4 pm to get it. At that time we were told to go
to deck 5 at 4:30 pm to get a table assignment - there were many
of us spending the time we would have enjoyed getting to know the ship waiting in line.
When we finally saw the Maitre'd we asked for a table for 6 to 8
and were told we had it - we walked into dinner that night and had a table for 2. My
husband and I have been married for 21 years and love each other -
but we did want company!! Finally we were seated next to the captain's table. This is
actually a horrible place to be because all of the service goes to the
captain's table and you get ignored! Our cabin steward left much to be desired - just not
around much and didn't do the kind of job we have come to
expect. Embarkation was quite difficult - we were held in an area and called by number -
I've never had towait so long. The plus side is the ship is
beautiful, the cabins wonderful - and we go for the upper end of the inside ones! The
cruise was relaxing and even tho I have specific complaints - they
did not keep us from having fun and getting the vacation we needed - we just expected
more.

Sailing on 10 cruises and being an avid ship buff, both my wife and I looked foward to our
trip on the Century. Although we were generally
pleased with our experience, we are still firm believers in the fact that there is no such
thing as a perfect cruise, ship, or cruise line...Ah, if
we could just take the best atributes of each.
On the plus side... The Century is beautiful ship, in the manner of the great liners. She
is elegant in every aspect, and the crew does her
proud, keeping her in absolute inspection form at all times. The service was the most
courteous we have had. On the sun deck you could
actually indulge in a nap and not be asked every three minutes if you wanted a beverage.
Every crew member was extremely respectfull.
Just to walk down the hallway ment saying hello to several crewmembers. The waiters seem
to be mostly European, and ours, Pavo, was
extrodinary. His expertise and guidence in selection led to many memorible meals.
Staterooms are generous in size, and well equiped.
The Lido food was above average, and the selection adequate... The best was the two
mornings that whole trays of smoked salmon were
put out... Heaven...
I could go on with the positive aspects, as there are many, but, as I am always interested
in the negative comments I will continue...
On the minus side... Being led to believe that 5 star gourmet food awaited us, we were
somewhat taken back by a selection that was really
nothing out of the ordinary. Don't get me wrong, the food was good, very good in fact, it
is just that it was not as exceptional as we were
led to believe. The varity offered really was not all that different from other cruise
lines. The entertainment was very lacking. Although the
show people had the energy, both talent and material were lacking. Many people that saw
the first production show did not bother to
come to the second. The midnight buffets, with the exception of the Grand Buffet, were not
worth staying up for. The Oriential offering was
in fact a joke, from the music to the food... a feeling share by many.
Overall the Century is a classic ship and we would sail with her and Celebrity again...
Heres hoping that the new owners maintain the
service and ship at present standards.

The Celebrity Century is a beautiful ship and maintained excellently by the staff. The
staff was very courteous at all times (even on
disembarking). Embarkation and disembarkation went very smoothly. The room was very nice
(inside cabin, 10th deck - Penthouse deck,
amidships) except that the A/C could have been cooler. For that matter, the A/C throughout
the ship was meager at best. The cabin
stewardess met us and assisted us right away. She was very courteous and very good at
getting into the room and fixing it up throughout
the cruise.
The dining room food (supposedly rated the best in other ratings) was only fair. I only
felt that I got one good meal the whole 7 day cruise.
The dining room is on two floors, the 5th and 6th at the stern. The dining room (at the
back) was always vibrating and was terrible on the
first evening. We complained (as did others) and they must have slowed the ship down to
ease the vibration. The Farewell meal (Thurs)
was terrible. As the lobster on ships is never very good (it is frozen and then thawed), I
ordered the prime rib and everyone else ordered
the lobster. The prime rib was fatty and tough. I tasted a piece of my wife's lobster and
it was chewy, tough and tasteless (and that was
the consensus at our table). The baked potatoe was burned. They took forever to get us our
food and then they rushed at this dinner and
turned off the lights as they introduced the staff.
I am an avid boater, having been on many sizes of ships. On our trip, while the seas were
very smooth, I felt at several times the rolling of
the ship. I suspect that they were not using the stabilizers as the seas were smooth and
felt that they didn't need them.
They only served coffee, tea, milk and water from 12 noon to 12 mid. At the buffet food
times, they served lemonade and punch. Soda was
never free and a glass was 1.25 and a can was 1.75. Since it was very warm and humid, they
should have served coffee, tea, milk, water,
lemonade and punch from 10 AM to 1AM and soda should have been less expensive. I did feel
they nickel'd and dime'd me on this cruise.
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this cruise due to the food. While everthing else was
OK, one of the reasons to go on a cruise is to be
treated like royalty and fed like a king. The food did not stand up. Actually the buffet's
were better then the dining room.

This was our Honeymoon cruise and we expected a lot. We feel we got a lot more than we
expected. We had some rough
weather, going through a tropical storm going out and out running a hurricane coming in
and the ship did wonderfully. The
captain steered around the worst of it and still fot us to our destinations. The food was
outstanding! There was plenty, it was
delicious, and the presentations were wonderful. We were mostly impressed with the
entertainment/recreation staff. They
were exceptional! We had more fun than we ever imagined. Our waiter was very professional
but a bit stuffy and our cabin girl
was just the best. We walked into St. Thomas and hired our own guide much cheaper than the
excursions and he gave us a 2
1/2 hour tour of the whole island. The ship itself is incredible. There are over $3 mil of
artworks everywhere and the
decorations and layout is top notch. The cabin was larger t han we expected and we had
more cupboard and drawer space
than we could ever use. About the only thing we were a little disapointed in was the fact
that the pools and hot tubs closed
early in the evening as we would have liked to swin under the stars. We would gladly go on
another Celebrity Cruise and feel
that is the best vacation you could possibly have.
