I have sailed 10 times. This was the first on Celebrity. Did they exceed my expectations like they advertise? So much so that we purchased the Captains Club for
future cruises. First I will get the negatives out of the way since they were few. I am an early riser and the first thing my brain thinks about is coffee. Every other
cruise line I have sailed with has 24 hour coffee. Their first coffee is available is 6:30. I complained and it became available at 5:20 which was good. The coffee
cups are about the size of a half cup of coffee. Several people brought/bought mugs for morning coffee. My husband is a smoker and ashtrays were not readily
available. They pack them tightly away for the night. Embarkation/disembarkation. They use a numbering system which works very well. You are issued a number
and when your number is called you go. This eliminates a bottle neck both at embarkation and disembarkation. I have seen a foot race with other cruise lines as
it seems everyone wants to be first on and off. My first and lasting impression of Century is that it is an elegantly beautiful ship. Looks and feels like a grand
hotel. It is not a glitzy ship nor a party ship. Not that people did not have fun its just we did not encounter the vast number of drunks and out of control people
on this ship as we have on Carnival. Again, not to say everyone that sails Carnival are drunks, its just that they are in more abundance. After all, they are the
party ship and they live up to that name. The Century was more what a relaxing cruise is all about. The food quality and presentation were the best I have ever
had on any ship. The waiters/busboys are at the Islands Cafe to carry your tray to the table. Just one of the many little touches Celebrity does to enhance the
cruise experience. My husband is a very picky eater and he found all the food to be very good. We did not order room service so I cannot comment on that. The
ships stabalization is excellent but in all fairness we had extremely calm seas. The worst we had were maybe 2 foot seas for about 4 hours one day. The rest of
the time is was ripples. I was a little surprised to find the ships restaurant aft. Normally most ships put the restaurant midships because that is the focal point and
there is less movement there. Being aft the restaurant did have more than average vibration which during rough seas would not be too good I would think. All
personnel on the ship were helpful and friendly. I have been on ships where the guest relations people were not real friendly. They do very little PA announcing
which is good. On some ships you feel like you are in K-mart with continous blue light specials. You must keep your daily activities paper with you or you will miss
activities as they are not announced. This became increasing appreciated as the cruise went along. After 7 days of constant announcments on other ships it
gets real old. I really cannot say enough good about this cruise line. The cruise experience was the best I have ever had. We will be sailing Celebrity again, they
know what they are doing and are doing it well.
