This was our fourth celebrity cruise and in my opinion, the best yet. The ship was a floating palace that I could find no fault. The staff, while new to this ship, did an excellent job handling the people and making everone feel welcome. The food was a gourmet treat and I can honestly say that there was not one bad meal experience. Service on entire ship was perfect. In trying to think of something on the negative side to say, the trip was just too short. I can recommend a celebrity cruise on the galaxy to anyone. Celebrity is the only way to go.

Editorial by Corey B Litwin (http://www.litwintravel.com/features/ad1.htm) I recently was invited by Celebrity Cruises to sail on one of the Galaxy's 7-Day Western Caribbean Cruises. Parents of a new-born child are usually very eager to show off their newest addition to their family, and the same holds true for the parents of The Galaxy. Celebrity Cruises recently launched their newest daughter in December 1996; at the same time other cruise lines were launching their newest vessels.

The trend with these new cruise ships has been to build huge ship that offer its passengers more activities and public rooms to choose from. The Galaxy is currently the second largest cruise ship afloat, but she hides her weight well. Her sleek design makes you appreciate the ship for her beauty not her size. Immediately after stepping on-board you will appreciate the soft colors, wood, and all the great art work used throughout the ship.

Her cabins are very spacious and for those that can spend the money on a suite you will not be disappointed. All cabins have an interactive television that you can order room service, gamble, or watch newly released movies. Almost all the modern comforts of home can be found in your cabin. The public rooms on the ship are really big. I never had a problem finding a seat for a show and never waited in a line for anything.

Service on the ship was good, but I felt there was a little bit of a communication problem with the staff that needs to be fixed. Not a major concern to me due to the fact that when I was on-board, the ship was only three cruises old. My favorite thing on the ship was the food. I have sailed on Celebrity before and I honestly feel that the food on their ships is the best food on any cruise line with one thousand or more passengers. Out of a possible six stars, I give the Galaxy five stars.

I am confined to a wheelchair & this was my first cruise. All in all I found it to be a very enjoyable adventure. Cabin was
excellent for wheelchair accessibility as was most of the entire ship. Tendering was an adventure since I cannot walk &
had to rely on crew to get me on and off while I remained in my chair. They scared me pretty good a couple of times but
I did survive. Service on the whole was good but I felt the crew could have been a little friendlier. Passengers tended to
be a bit towards the older end and like the crew not too friendly. I would certainly recommend the Galaxy for disabled
travelers as well as the able-bodied. Looking forward towards another cruise on RCCL's Rhapsody next month!!

This was our fourth cruise all in the 90's all with celebrity two on the Amerikanis, one on the Horizon, and this one on the
Galaxy, this past one aboard the Galaxy was by far the best one, every aspect of dining weather it be buffet style
breakfast on deck, or the lunch grill, or the eveing dining room, and midnight buffets the food was excellent the food staff
was superb, the waiter staff excellent our waiter Rudy was the best, shore excursions were ok, tendering was a bit slow
long waiting line in the bowel of the ship was'nt the best maybe should be more organized so not as many people are
gather in one spot for such a long period of time, but that's what happens when everyone want to get off the ship at once.
Had a wonderful time enjoying Micheal's Club on board it's lounge where you could enjoy a cocktail and to me the
highlight of the cruise could enjoy a fine cigar in comfort knowing you were not offending anyone because Micheal's club
is set up as a cigar smoking lounge that is totally enclosed so not to offend the non-smoking guest aboard ship and the
host Omar was a very knowledgeable young man, all in all this ship is magnificent you will be very pleased at its offerings
I would not hesitate to tell me friends its the best ship on the seas, so much in fact the we are sailing again next year on
the Galaxy.

The cruise overall was very good. Weather according to the people in Alaska was very unusal and very pleasent. Did not
pack one bathing suit or a pair of shorts! The weather was more like southern California than Alaska, In the high 70's in
most places. Ketchakan, the location with 14 feet of rain per year was very shorts weather! The cruise overaall even
being the first for Alaska was very enjoyable. The ship being new was great with the exception on the very violent
vibration in the dining room when the ship either back down or went over a shallow area, an experience to be missed!
The most notable negative aspect of the cruise and one that would keep me from cruising Celebrity again if I thought it
was a repeatable offense was the embarkation in Vancouver. It took over 2 1/2 hours to get aboard the ship, inexcusable!
The second was the ships officers insisting that we leave Haines on the schedule time even though we arrived 1 1/2 hours
late. You take an expensive tour and it must be cut in half in order to get the people back to the ship on time, unacceptable
and I believe Celebrity owes me a refund for that tour. Overall the cruise was very enjoyable and I would do it again (all
ready considering it) if the embarkation problem was resolved..

Beautiful new ship with great physical plant. Crew was very friendly and helpful. Entertainment was amateurish and not
very good. Dining room was unable to respond to even simple variations from the scheduled menu although the staff was
friendly and tried to be helpfull. For example, grilled fish could not be served without sauce because the platters came off
the line that way. Embarkcation was a disaster! Total mismanagement. after waiting 2 hours in assembly area I sought out
someone in management to seek a way to cancell. No management was avaiable, they were elsewhere trying to quell the
revolt. Similar occurance in Haines when ship was late and not enough time for scheduled and paid for tours. No
arrangement or acknowledgement that tour guests should disembark first or that we were not getting what we paid for. I
would not travel again on Celeberity.

I had a Mini-suite with balcony on deck nine and found it to be very quiet. They are stretching it a bit calling it a suite at
172 sq. ft. however it has a King size bed and the sofa makes into a single bed. I found the mattress on the king size bed
somewhat uncomfortable and our daughter found the sofa bed was very uncomfortable due to the mattress being too thin
allowing the steel braces to be felt.. The ship could supply nothing to alleviate this but we found that stuffing blankets
under the mattress helped.. The shower is the largest I have used on any ship. I am 6’4 and 280 and was quite
comfortable in it. On the negative side the shower flow continually runs hot and cold requiring constant compensating
adjustments to keep it even.

I found the dining room, upper level aft, to be quite noisy which made it difficult to hear the live music being played
during meals. This was partially due to the fact the music originates from the forward center of the dining room. At times
there is a low frequency noise at the aft of the dining room when the ship is in a swell. This appears to be caused by the
propellers running near the surface of the water. However as almost all of our trip was in calm seas this was not much of
a problem. I opted for the optional Anniversary package which in my opinion, and that of my surprised wife, was worth
the money.

The food in the main dining room can only be described as marvelous. The deserts are to die for. I have been on five
different cruise lines and only Crystal can compare. The food in the Oasis Café is better that of the competitors and has a
wider variety. As well there are four separate serving areas which greatly speeds up the distribution process. A negative
here was a chronic lack of coffee cups. I suspect the cruise line is geared for the Caribbean where hot drinks are not in
demand. It kept the kitchen staff hopping to keep the rack supplied. I was most impressed at embarkation having arrived
aboard at 2.30 p.m. we were treated to a full lunch of the same quality and variety as we had throughout the week. The
midnight buffets are also above average, so good in fact that I went to five out of the seven offered . If you like to eat this
ship is for you, I put on a pound per day to prove it.

This ship has the most outdoor viewing areas and sunning decks of any ship I have been on. A real plus when viewing
glaciers. If the weather is inclement the Stratosphere Lounge on deck twelve with its two deck high glass going across
and around the front of the ship fills the bill.

Although there was a full complement of passengers on the cruise (around 1900) this ship usually felt empty. The show
lounge is extremely large with excellent sight lines and lots of seating space so the rush for prime seats which I have
experienced on other ships is not necessary.

The ship is extremely clean (don’t know how they do it}. I tend to be a Mr. Clean and it is impeccable although I did find
some dust on the hinges in my closet. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Several of the staff stated that their goal
is to provide the best possible cruising experience and in my opinion they delivered. During this seven day Alaska cruise I
observed that the majority of passengers would be in the fifty and over age group.

Would I go again with this cruise line and on this ship, you bet, it was a memorable experience that I would recommend highly.

My parents invited a total of 14 family members to cruise with them in celebration of their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Their
choice of the Galaxy gave us all added reason for excitement and anticipation of our reunion. The ship is a beauty--from
chrome trim on the ceilings, to the Grand Foyer staircase, to collections of unique artwork through out the ship. We especially
appreciated the Stratosphere lounge, with its harpist during the early evening hours. All glassed in and situated in the bow at the
highest deck level, one could enjoy watching for wildlife, the sunset, or even rain. The show lounge is spacious with
unobstructed views for all and the productions astound with a variety of sights and sounds--from video to laser and light
shows and special effects. The food was unbelievably good, but thanks to a great exercise class schedule (and a lot of stair
and hall walking), it IS possible to lose or maintain one's weight. There are also asterisked selections for those following low
fat diets. I also liked that one side of the ship was a designated non-smoking area. Even though our cabins were without
portholes, they were the nicest we've ever had--spacious, with interactive TV, incredible closet and drawer storage, huge
showers, and a wall safe behind the wide dressing table mirror. I could go on and on with the superlatives....

Whatever embarkation problems may have existed before, have either been rectified or I was fortunate to have missed them.
Debarkation also ran swiftly. The land tours were fairly pricey, however, and many people could arrange privately to take
similar tours for perhaps $20-$50 less per person. For a family of five, that can add up. We were also disappointed in the
timing around some of the ports of call. The stop at Haines, for example, was from 6-8 p.m., right in the middle of Early
Sitting. Ketchikan was particularly frustrating as there was MUCH to see and do and very little time, seeing as how it was the
second formal night. Those of us who wanted to shop felt that it was, of necessity, an aerobic activity.

In our experience, cruise directors (in addition to doing a lot of behind the scenes work) generally go out of their way to
schedule activities to introduce the passengers to one another. On a ship of 2,000 people, the LACK of these kinds of activities
was even more noticeable. The cruise director's programming for teens could be improved, too. High schoolers who weren't
yet 18 were not permitted in the disco after 11 (usually), and there was little opportunity for them to do karaoke, which many
wanted to do. The teens I traveled with and the friends they met had no interest in drinking--just in dancing--and I think the
cruise director could do more to accommodate their desire to hang out and dance with their friends. I also wish the cruise
director could have been more "flexible" in allowing for a passenger talent show, in which many of the adults were eager to
participate. The photo service on board, we felt, was a great service for the cost. Sometimes wallet size photos were offered,
in addition to, or in lieu of, the typical 5 X 7 size.

One disappointment was that the much publicized computer lab was down for the entire week, thanks to vandalism by a
passenger the week before. There were, however, lecture classes on computers by a member of the cruise staff with a great
way of simplying a complex subject for newbies.

Anyone wanting to check out the web site my 15-year-old made in honor of my parents' 50th will find a link back to this
GALAXY site. (http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Prairie/1633)

I was also on the 1st Alaska sailing of the year and would like to comment on my fellow passengers comments. Embarkation was the worst I have
ever seen, but in way of explanation, it was the very first alaska cruise for this ship and several of the employees. They had to learn the lingo
along with how to use the computer system ( not like your average home computer!). Several of my fellow travel agents arrived in the moring and
had no problems boarding. The later in the day when planes strted arriving is when the back log occured. Actually, Celebrity did manage to get
everyone one board with time to spare before we departed. Food = Outstanding!!! Let me tell you, traveling with a group of travel agents on a
conference can and usually is an adventure! Believe me, they throw any and every problem at the waiters they can think of! Needless to say,
they passed. The dining room staff do not know who is and who is not an agent at meals not in the dining room. My husband was very impressed
by the service we received on this cruise.

Rooms = Our association was allowed to inspect several cabins on one day at sea. Let me tell you, I would have no problem staying in any of
them. Yes, we looked at the Royal Suite along with the lowest cabin in price.

Time in Haines. Yes, it was cut short, but not because of late arrivers from Skagway (some one always thinks the ship will not leave without them!)
The dock crew at Haines was brand new and they had problems, again not Celebrity's fault.

The service was outstanding in all areas and I do not have a problem recomending Celebrity to any of my clients.

I took a cruise to Alaska with my family. Overall, this cruise was excellent, though the pleasant weather may contributed to this factor. The
midnight buffets were mainly for looks and not taste. One thing that is good about this ship is that they have food all day round, so when
ever you're hungry, you can go get something to eat. My dining experience was very good. The busboys and waiters are extremely polite
and pleasant to be around. Though on the first day, the seating arrangement was messed up and we were short a seat, but that was
fixed quickly. The cabin was very quiet even though the cabin that we occupied was right next to a busy stairway and surronding by
lounges. The ship itself was increadibly stable. There was hardly any rocking and when there was, it was only for a short period of time,
unlike that last cruise I was on. My experience on the Galaxy was wonderful and I would recommend it.

The Galaxy is an amazing ship and we had an excellant time. The food was very good. The taste and the preparation were as
I expected and what I had heard and read about. The food in the Oasis Cafe was also very good. I found that most of the
lunch items served in the dining room were also offered in the Oasis Cafe. The cruise director, Don Fluke, is very, very good.
He is extremely animated and very funny. His staff however was not, but maybe I held them to high standards because I
thought he was so very good. The ship never felt crowded and we never waited in line for anything more that 3-4 minutes.
There was an extrodinary amount of very good shore excursions. There were somewhat expensive but given the season in
Alaska is so short (May - Sept.) I understand why they are priced high. The cabin was very nice. We had a verandah which is
great on this cruise as you can just sit and watch all day. There was some noise noticably in the cabin. Very rarely did we
hear our neighbors, but thee was squeaking and creaking most noticeable, naturally, as you tried to get to sleep. It certainly
was not loud or frequent enough to prevent one from a good night sleep. In any event it was an amazing time on an amazing
ship. Before we went we talked to our friends about how this would be a once in a lifetime trip. Not true anymore - we are
going back!

We took our first cruise on the Galaxy and were pleasantly surprised, by cruising in general and the Galaxy in particular. The ship is huge, but
somehow they manage to make everything run smoothly. With that many people it's hard to totally avoid the assembly line feeling, but they did
as best as could possibly be imagined.

High points included the food and the childrens' program. The food was uniformly excellent (in the dining room anyway). The dining room menu
and service was similar to that we've had at fine restaurants in major US cities. The buffet was good for a buffet but that's about as far as I'd
go. Our two girls, aged 3 and 5, thoroughly enjoyed the activities scheduled by the ship.

There were a few negatives. One, the embark/disembark process, while about as good as it's going to get with 2000 people and their luggage,
is nothing to write home about. Getting three kids out of our cabin at 8 AM was no picnic.

Two, I think they could use more quality control with their shore excursion providers. On one trip, the idiot bus driver ignored obvious signs of a
flat tire and we ended up losing a wheel at 55 MPH. It would have been easy for the bus to roll over the guardrail into the Gastineau Channel in
Junueau, or to have the sparks from the hub ignite the gas tank. On another trip, they didn't get us back in time for dinner (for no good
reason) and we ended up eating greasy Chinese food from the midnight buffet.

Third, the childrens' program wasn't operating often enough. One day of the cruise was scheduled for Glacier Bay National Park. You don't
actually get off the ship during this day, you sail around marveling at the scenery. It's gorgeous, but no childrens program was scheduled that
day. I don't know about you, but my kids have a pretty short attention span when it comes to big beautiful chunks of ice.

In general though I highly recommend the company, the ship, and would definitely take it again for a family cruise.

My wife and I along with my in-laws were virgin cruisers. And yes, we are hooked. We have taken at least 2
vacations a year and thought the Galaxy was just as posh as some of the resorts, with the added bonus of a
new port every day and food for basically free. Embarkation was a fiasco, some were allready boarding when
somone told us the ship was not ready for us. A fellow said his family had allready gone aboard, the Celebrity
rep shouted that he did not care, go ahead then, everybody might as well bored. It was 92 degrees in the
terminal, so it was nice to get on board. Our room was on the 8th floor looking over the bow. The King bead
was very comfortable and the room was roomy enough The food was great. I am a Vegitarian, and the Vegi
menu was very good. You could pick and choose off the regular or the Vegi menu. The private beach was
great except for some jelly fish stings. We did one ship excursion, you are much better off with finding your
own taxi and seeing the Islands. The hotel Celebrity set us up in was called the Raddison Normandie. You are
best to find your own. It was not up to par at all with the ship. Celebrity seems to like American Airlines. The
planes were both dirty and one smelled like an out house. Long delays at Peurto Rico and Houston. It took us
11 hours from San Juan to Seattle. Our luggage took 2 days to find us, not a nice end to a wonderful trip.
