An overall great holiday. Celebrity cruises Galaxy was a treat after we had been on
Olympic cruises last year. The NEW
ship was comfortable and clean. The staff were excellent.
In my opinion, the best part of the cruise was meeting other people (both guests and
staff) and the day at sea. The staff
are from everywhere imaginable and are truly a pleasure. our waiter (Anthony) and busboy
(Allen) did everything
possible to make each meal great. However, we were very disappointed in the management
style. For example,
Wednesday was supposed to be the our restraunt staff's afternoon off. (They only get one
per week.) But because the
maitre'd thought service could be better (and it was already FAR better than anything
you'd find at home), he cancelled
everyone's time off for the week. I'd like to see them try that in North America!
We didn't do many shore excursions. only the Private Buck Island snorkeling trim in
St.Thomas. The crew of the Doubloon
made that a great afternoon. Even for those of us who got seasick!
Some things to keep in mind... if you want to see the galley, etc., ask at guest relations
ASAP!. We missed the tour of the
galley because you had to sign up for it right away but nothing was posted about it. (We
found out after the fact.) Also,
there were daily drink specials and a happy hour each day but you had to know what the
specials were and the special
prices weren't always given. We didn't feel it was worth correcting the prices but just on
principle....
