When we had booked our cruise we were gauranteed a cat 7, but were upgarded to a cat. 5.
We
were told by our travel agent that this was the best way to book because you would be up
graded.
We had a cabin loacted at the stern of the ship, excessive engine and propeller vibration
during
sailing hours plus the noise kept you awake most of the night. On our third day some of
the crew
were painting outside our cabin, they had spilled some paint or paint thinners. We were
advised by
our cabin steward to ask for another room. We then went to cabin services and told what
had
happened. They said that someone would come to investigate, but no one did, so we
complained
again with the same result, it took five complaints altogether with the last two
complaints to the
chief cabin steward. We were told that nothing could be done about it.
A cruise is something that I would consider in the future, but only with a confirmed cabin
located
mid-ship.

This was my second cruise but the first for my husband, mother, father and aunt. Everyone
loved it. Everyone said they would do it again in a minute. The food was fantastic, as was
the service. Our cabin was quite spacious outside category 6.
The only complaint was the rocking of the ship. We were told the waters were unusually
rough during our time at sea. No one got sick but the first couple of nights were uneasy.
Once we had our sea legs everything was great. Talking to several other passengers that
were repeat cruisers on this ship assured us the waters were rough.
I am looking forward to our next cruise to Alaska next year.

Over all this way a great experience; The food was fantastic, the crew could not have been
better, the destinations were wonderful. There were just a couple of draw backs: Our cabin
was right above the anchor ( 0500 noise), The island of Martinique was not our favorite
(people were rude) and this being a more elegant cruise seemed to be frequented by an
older crowd (retired) not many young people on board. Again, these are just a few
negatives in a mostly positive experience. We would recommend this to anyone, and plan to
sail Celebrity again.

Great: Most midnight buffets, bread, cookies and desserts, embark and disembark
procedures, friendly professional cruise staff in general, ship impecable clean, omelettes
cooked to order at breakfast buffet. Dissapointing: Most sit-down lunch and dinner menus
in the dinning room (Exception one or two days of course), Entertainment at show lounge
was only So-so with very simple productions, lack of a formal Cinema, pressure to buy
optional excursions, expensive caviar on their America's cup Lounge. Definitely Celebrity
did not "Excede our expectations", its hard to sleep in their cabins because the
Horizon cracks at night, our impresion is that probably due to competition and high
operating costs they might be cutting costs after their exceptional ratings in the first
years of this decade. Of course they have good aspects, but we prefer to look for diferent
alternatives in the future, we will very unlikely sail again with Celebrity.

This was my second cruise and I think it realy showed me how much better the service and
cleanliness can be. My
cabin was on level 10 which may have been a big factor in how quiet it was. The lack of
the cruise director barking
on the loud speaker as our last cruise was a welcome change. The crew was wonderful. They
seemed to be at
every turn to see what they could do for you. My experience with Celebrity Cruise Lines
was great and I will go
again.

This was my 11th cruise, my husbandıs 6th cruise, our 5th New Years cruise, and our 3rd
cruise in 1996, so I need to preface my comments by saying that our expectations were
high, mine especially so. When Celebrity advertised allow us to exceed your
expectationsı, I knew that it could be difficult. They met my expectations in most cases,
and fell below in some areas. They never exceeded them.
Celebrity did a good job with air arrangements. Our flight to San Juan left at 11:30 AM, so we didnıt need to be at an airport in the pre-dawn hours. The return flight was in the early afternoon, so we didnıt feel obligated to spend either 8 hours in the airport or on a shore excursion which had been done before. The luggage handling was a different story. We waited over 6 hours for the bags to arrive. Panic was setting in since we were about to sail. My husband found the bags in the stairwell and carried them to the cabin. I have no idea how long it would have taken otherwise. Our first cabin (4070) was far from quiet. When the ship was at sea, it sounded like we were at the end of an airport runway with aircraft constantly taking off. We always travel with earplugs, but they didnıt help. My husband discussed the problem at the purserıs desk and we were offered an alternative cabin, one deck up. The second cabin (5087) was smaller and the beds couldnıt be pushed together. We moved anyway because we really did want to get some sleep during our vacation.
The dining room food and service was excellent, but the dining room itself is loud. The tables were very close together and many of the larger ones had semi-circular bench seats. Both the table and the bench were attached to the floor, so you couldnıt adjust your seating distance. The food served on the Lido Deck was also excellent. The serving lines never seemed to be excessive and there were always plenty of seats. We enjoyed the exercise program. The fitness center was well ventilated, had a great view, and a nice space for aerobics classes. The instructors were good and the classes were offered at many different fitness levels.
The tender service to Catalina Island wasnıt great. We got our tickets at 9:30. Tender service started at 10:00. The tickets were for tender #11, which never departed the ship until 12:15. By that time, it had started to shower and we just stayed on the ship. For New Yearıs dinner on other ships, there have always been souvenir menus, hats, and noisemakers. On this sailing, they ran out of these items during the first dinner seating. It wasnıt a big deal, just another minor annoyance. The New Yearıs celebration was held poolside and the champagne flowed freely from 11:45 until 12:15. Hors dıoeuvres were also passed about during this time. All in all, we had a lovely vacation. Who knows? We might even sail with Celebrity again.

This was our first cruise. We travelled with Pied Piper Travel, a travel agent
specialising in sales to the gay community, based
in NY (we are British). Our party of 22, average age around 35, was unusual in that the
cruise clientele was primarily people
aged 60 or over (and they all seemed to come from the American Midwest!) Having said that
there was a relaxed
atmosphere on the cruise and we did not feel any tension between our group and anyone
else.
The Horizon was an impressive boat, our cabin was 6045, about half way up the boat, above
the show lounge which might
have been a problem if we were early bedders or on early seating, but didnt bother
us. Activities on-board seemed to be
targetted at the more senior end of the spectrum, and not many of them appealed to us. The
lectures on Alaskan history and
wildlife were particularly disappointing, as they were superficial and seemed to focus on
where to shop and best things to
buy! I found the Cruise Director a truly unpleasant character (he could have invented the
word oleaginous) but he seemed
to go down well with many people. The show lounge entertainment was pretty good on the
whole, and often had a certain
camp appeal, but couldnt really compare to something youd get shoreside.
Disappointingly, the ship quietened down very
quickly after dinner, with amusements after the show very limited. The bars closed at 12
or 1, and the disco - probably due to
the clientele - was always quiet (there were some other young people on board!) with an
unfriendly and disinterested DJ.
Food was better than expected, the evening dinners were very good, although I found some
of the food oversalted. Service
was decidedly patchy - very friendly, but with a few oddities such as having a separate
bar steward and wine steward - so you
could buy a glass of champagne from the bar steward, but only a half-bottle from the wine
steward. Buffet food (in the Coral
Seas) was very good, with a wide choice at breakfast and lunch, kept well replenished and
very fresh. We didnt eat breakfast
or lunch in the main restaurant.
This review sounds quite negative, but we really enjoyed ourselves, but feel the cruise
experience might not be for us! Alaska
was absolutely sensational, but Im not sure wed enjoy days at sea or calls at
uninteresting ports. Also Princess Dianas
death while we were away meant that often wed sit in the cabin watching CNN rather
than participating in some of the
activities we might otherwise have done.

This was our second CELEBRITY cruise. We were so impressed the first time on the ZENITH
that there was no
question which line we would take again. The ship is spotless! We saw officers picking up
luncheon debris on the
deck when it was blowing around. The cabins are impeccably maintained. I feel bad messing
it up. Service is
always with a smile. The maids/stewards will always say "hello" if they pass you
in the corridor. I have noticed
that they don't press you to buy drinks if you refuse the first time. The only complaint
is the cost of the serivces
in the salon. They are about 50% higher than what I would pay at a nice salon on land. The
evening
entertainment is energetic, but lacking in talent. Our cruise director sang a song one
night & he was better than
all the other entertainers we heard all week. The shore excursions are so-so. Nothing
spectacular & not cheap.
But overall, this is a terrific value! The food & presentation is absolutely tops!
Suffice it to say, we are taking out
third Celebrity cruise on the CENTURY in the spring. We have praised the line so highly
that several friends &
relatives have also taken CELEBRITY cruises. Don't hesitate to go!

My parents took my sister and me on the vacation of our lives! The second we entered the
ship, it was as though we were
suddenly royalty. We were greeted by our friendly cabin steward who was ready to show us
to our room and he informed us
that our luggage was being brought up to our room. I enjoyed almost every aspect of this
cruise. The gourmet food was
inventive and always satisfying. Never before have I had such delicious food, such
attentive service, such a wonderful week in
Heaven. The entertainment was very amusing and it seemed to cater to people of all ages.
Although I was one of the few
younger people aboard the ship in late February, I was somewhat disappointed with the lack
of teen-related activities. I did
do a lot of dancing in the Gemini Disco. However, my family and I found the DJ to be rude.
He ignored our song requests
even though we were some of the few people in the room. The Zodiac Club was very
tastefully decorated and comfortable. It
housed various activities such as Karaoke Night, The Newlywed and Not so Newlywed Game,
which my parents participated
in by the way, and the wonderful talent of Oasys, the talented musical group that
performed every music style. Every night,
there was a different theme. On Tex Mex night, there was Mexican food amid a gorgeous
array of pinatas, Mexican
ice-sculptures, etc. Every theme night had its sparks. All were enjoyable. The cruise
director reminded me of an English
game show host. He was very lively and always smiling. The entertainment staff made our
whole family really feel like we
were special. It was a wonderful luxurious time. The Horizon was an architectual beauty
filled with activities that can keep
anyone busy, not just the staff. Did I mention that every morning, there was someone
painting or buffing up some part of
the ship? Did I also mention that I left my stateroom early in the morning to go on deck
and have a first look at St. Thomas
and I went back to my room to find that my bed was already made?! Celebrity is definitely
an up and coming cruise line.
The fleet, as I understand, is very beautiful- every ship inside and out and I recommend
this cruise line to anybody. If you
are looking for a beautiful ship, with friendly crew, delicious food, great entertainment
and nightlife, and a desire to cruise
again, cruise Celebrity. The only severely bad thing about the Horizon cruise was having
to leave. I will cruise Celebrity
again, because this summer, my mother and I plan to cruise the Century, one of Celebrity's
larger ships, to the Western
Caribbean. It should be fabulous, after all, I know what to expect from Celebrity- the
best. Celebrity lives up to its motto.
Celebrity really does exceed your expectations, whatever they may be!
