First the negative, first season out of Philadelphia and
embarkation was a problem. Everyone appearing at the same time
causing a backup in traffic
caused the delays. Once on the Pier things went well.
Disembarkation was also slow, again often caused by people not
following instructions. If one can
accept the fact, and lower expectations, that in most departures
and returns you will have some confusion or delay they will enjoy
the trip more.
The good things, the Horizon has Great Food with excellent
presentation. The Waiters and Bus boys are excellent, at least
that has been our experience
on our Five times aboard the Horizon. It is easy to find your way
around this ship, its size is just right for us. The Cabin staff
provides the right level of
service and always anticipated our need for everything from ice
to the laundry service. The entertainment is good, the Cabins are
clean, and have great
storage spaces, Interactive TV, and ample space. This ship décor
is done in good taste and reflects a quiet elegance. When in
port, next to another ship,
you can take pride in your choice of ships.
The Ship experienced a medical emergency some 200 miles at sea,
the Officers, Medical Staff and Crew responded with great
efficiency in preparing for a
Coast Guard Evacuation by clearing deck space, informing the
passengers of what was taking place. Of course the US. Coast
Guard was outstanding in
their performance. It was most comforting to observe the Crews
teamwork in action under poor weather conditions and know they
can handle such an
emergency.
All in all, Celebrity and the Horizon have provided great cruise
experiences for us. In Alaska, in the deep Caribbean and in
Bermuda.
One editorial note if I may, The Cruse lines are not responsible
for the Weather, boorish people, poor cab drivers, and shops that
overcharge. Like most
of us, we have run into an occasional employee that was having a
bad day, but don't we all. The cruise lines do the best they can
to control what
happens onboard, all cruise lines need to do a better job on the
land tours they offer.
