Celebrity Horizon Cruise Bermuda Sept. 6 - 12 1998

This is our review, Mark and Nancy Caramanna, on Celebrity’s Horizon this September 6 – 13, 1998 to Bermuda. This has been our third cruise in
the past eleven months. Our first 2 being on Carnival Fun Ships. This review might be bias in the fact that both my wife and I had the best vacation
ever. We admit we have become addicted to cruising right off the bat.

Pros: The food, the service, and the spit and polish were unsurpassed. The stewards, wait staff, crew and officers were very top notch.

Cons: On this cruise the first port is Kings Wharf, Royal dockyard. Or as the locals know it the “dockyard”. Nothing much to do at this port. Some
shopping. If you want to plan excursions this is the time to go. Best yet, go to the beaches these days. There is more to do at Hamilton, in the way
of shopping, restaurants, and bars. We had fun those first few days.

Comments:

Took a limo ride to New York from south Jersey. Our first time cruising out of N.Y. No traffic that morning. Easy drop off at the pier. Boarding time
was 1:00. We arrived at noon. We were about the 40th on line. 5 to 1:00 we began to board. We checked in with a very nice young lady named
Esther. While checking in a young lady by the name of Chantal Lalonde introduced herself to us, as the Social Hostess. Nancy said to her “My
monkey’s name is Chantal.” Nancy carries a pocketbook by Kipling. Each one color of a Kipling product has attached to it a miniature gorilla with a
name, for just that color. She showed her the keychain. She thought that was neat. Chantal asked us our names.Nancy turned to me and said
She’ll probable pick us for a show. Checked in . After having our picture taken, a young man met us. He took our carry ons and showed us to our
room. We chose an inside cabin #6086.It was mid ship, mid way up. With a regular queen-size bed. Not two pushed together. No problem here.
We were eating lunch on the outside deck by 1:20 P.M. that day. If this food was any indication of what was to come, we knew this cruise would be
great. After, we walked around to check out the rest of the ship. Beautiful, clean and only about 75 percent full. Stopped at the Rendez-Vous
lounge. Met Dave the Rave. What a great guy. At this point we met 2 nice girls who would become to great friend during this cruise. We went up to
the top deck as we were sailing down the Hudson River. What a site. The Twin Towers on one side, Lady Liberty on the other. With the wind
blowing, the sun shining, the band playing, it couldn’t have been nicer. Having chose late seating for dinner, we went to the Rende-Vous Lounge
for a cocktail before dinner. There we met a couple, who turned out to be two of the funniest people we ever had a good time with. We wound up
hanging together every night. Next was dinner. We had a table for 6. Our wait Staff was great. One person at our table complained a lot,
unjustified. We didn’t let it bother us. We would order any and every thing, and it was always excellent. We always ordered room service for
breakfast. This was our wake up call. ON this cruise we liked that they called to say they were on their way with the food. Full continental with a nice
variety of Danish, rolls, toast, and cereals. Never disappointed. The first day after slot tournament, lunch, and pool we go back to our room to find
an envelope on the bed addressed to us. It said the Master of the Ship invites you to dinner this evening, and to call and confirm. We did .While we
were resting we received a call from Chantal asking us if we received the invitation. She was the one who chose us to be part of the table. She told
us all the plans for the evening. It was the first formal night of the cruise. Mark was glad he brought his Tux with him. What a great evening. We felt
very special to be eating with the Captain. Mark was conversing with Captain Karatzas about how sorry he was for not bringing a box of chocolates
with him. The Captain said, “what do you mean”. Then Mark proceeded to tell the Captain about how he read about him on the Internet. That
someone brought him a box of chocolates for his sweet-tooth, and received a bridge tour. He was mind blown. He couldn’t believe Mark knew this.
Before the end of the dinner he told everyone at the table we were invited to a bridge tour on Thursday, while we moved from Kings Wharf to
Hamilton. Later while talking to Chantal, We found out he doesn’t do this often. After dinner we went to the show, with reserved front row. The
show was very enjoyable, a Broadway Revue. After the show the Captain said he would see us Thursday on the bridge. What a very personable
guy he was. Very down to earth. Met a great bartender Arsenial at the Martini bar.Gary, the piano player was enjoyable. Gitana , a bartender that
floated all over the ship was super. Took the bridge tour, which was very exciting. Went to Hamilton, shopping and bars great. What a beautiful
port. Very clean, people friendly.

All in all, we loved every minute of this cruise.
