Our cruise to Bermuda on the Zenith was excellent. The ship was well kept, clean, and
everything in working order. The food and dining room
service was outstanding - our waiter, Rocho Lorenzo, was the best we've had on any cruise.
The staff was friendly and accomodating -
answering all of our questions and meeting our needs. We ordered coffee every morning with
'wake up service' and it was always prompt and
hot. The one thing we were disappointed in was the quality of the shows in the evening,
but we also found out that when cruise ships are docked
in Bermuda they are prohibited from having luscious, live shows. The island of Bermuda is
beautiful and there is plenty to do via shore
excursions or treks on your own. We did the glass bottom boat and snorkeling, and also one
of the bus tours of the island and found them both
worthwhile and well worth the money. There was a good mix of children and seniors - which
may have been a conflict with one group or the
other, but we enjoyed the nice mix of age groups. We thought the embarkation and
disembarkation went as smooth as any we've experienced;
we were on the ship within 1/2 hour of checking in, and because we had an early fllight
returning, we were one of the first off. We'd highly
recommend this ship and itinerary.

Even though this was only our second cruise, and the first since our honeymoon fifteen
years ago, the Celebrity Zenith and Bermuda, didn't let us down.
The hallmarks of any cruise, food and service, constantly exceeded my expectations.
Before sailing, I read many reviews of this ship, from many different perspectives over
the past year. I would have to say that most of the negative
comments made about this ship and crew, were no longer to be experienced. Celebrity has
been investing heavily lately in taking care of it's crew, and it
shows. A happy crew makes for a happy guest.
When cruising to Bermuda, you must make sure of your ships itinerary. The Zenith sailed to
both Hamilton and St. George. A couple of the others don't,
including Zeniths sister ship Horizon, which spends the entire time at the Dockyards, at
the extreme west end of the island. Hamilton, the capitol and only
city, is in the center of the island, while St. George is on the eastern end, and full of
history.
There were two areas where we thought there could have been improvements. We both thought
that the air conditioning in our stateroom could have
been cooler, even when turned down all the way. We heard this complaint from many other
guests as well. To be fair, we traveled in August, one of the
hottest months in Bermuda, and it was always more comfortable in the ship than on deck. We
would have liked it a little cooler in the cabin for sleeping.
My wife felt that there could have been more seafood selections for dinner, even though
you always had a choice of at least five or six different entrees
every night.
As I mentioned earlier, the food in the dining room was superb. With five full courses,
and several choices in each, it was hard to leave hungry. The one
thing I learned from my first cruise fifteen years ago, and vowed not to be shy again, was
that if a portion seemed small, or you wanted more, just ask. I
usually had TWO entrees most nights, and not always the same one. If I loved the appetizer
or soup, I just asked for another, and it came very quickly. I
usually didn't even have to ask for a second desert, our waiter often brought over extra
anyway. Of course the waiter and busboy provided exceptional
service and attention. Ours weren't as entertaining as some, but they were always there
when needed.
It's no joke that you can eat at any time of the day, (well from 6:00AM until about 2:00AM
anyway). For breakfast and lunch, the offerings in the Windsurf
Cafe pretty much matched what was being served in the open seating restaurant. The only
complaint here was that there was often a line, but it usually
moved very quickly. If that wasn't even fast enough, you could go out to the grill during
lunch for hot dogs, hamburgers, and other grill/barbecue treats.
Due to our busy schedule of activities on the island, this was often the case.
Our cabin accommodations were comfortable, and the cabin staff attentive. We didn't see
our steward often, but if we needed something, we could just
call cabin services, and our needs were meet very quickly. The evening turndown service
was always accompanied by fresh towels, which was a pleasant
surprise. We also purchased the anniversary package, which included flowers in the cabin,
two thick terrycloth robes, champagne, glasses, breakfast in
bed, and more. Room service was always prompt, if not a couple minutes early.
The one service I really liked, was the interactive online excursion feature of the
in-cabin television network. On our first night out, we were able to bring
up a list of available excursion tours setup through the cruise line, and their on-island
agent. There was plenty to choose from including, walking tours of
the towns, sailing, snorkeling, glass bottom boat tours, and more. We heard a couple
complaints that there wasn't any coordination for golfing, but we
don't golf. You could also just go ashore and make your own arrangements, or take a guided
taxi tour. All the scheduled excursions had been
pre-screened by both the cruise line and their agents. You might pay more for the outings
via the cruise line, but you were never disappointed. We were
able to book tours for almost every morning and afternoon, right from our cabin, and
charged to our on-board charge account. This was allot easier than
looking through guide books and making calls once you got to the island.
There were constant multiple activities going on, to satisfy both young and old. I was
surprised to see so many children on the cruise, but a Bermuda
cruise is a good family trip, and I hope to take my kids next time. All age groups seemed
to get along fine. You were always well informed about the days
activities by either the daily newsletter, or a TV channel dedicated to listing the days
activities. Celebrity has a strict rule about no public address
announcements, unless very important.
There are several shops onboard, and a casino, but they are only allowed to be open while
at sea. Since the Zenith stays in Hamilton two days, we did
most of our shopping there. The nightly shows were also limited to at sea nights. There is
a law in Bermuda that the cruise ships can't have professional
entertainers give shows while in port. Unfortunately there aren't any on the island
either.
The embarkation and disembarkation went very smoothly in New York. Since we had taken a
cruise line provided bus from central Mass to New York, we
had preferred disembarkation. We were Group 4 out of 14. We were also so impressed with
Celebrity that we joined their Captains Club. For a one time
fee you get regular newsletters, discounts, and some extras when you sail again. You can't
join before you have sailed. However, since we joined before
we left the ship, we were able to get our first benefit. New disembarkation numbers, 1. We
were the first group off the ship, and our luggage was waiting
for us at the end of the gangway.
Overall we had a wonderful time, and would definitely sail again with Celebrity.

The Zenith was small compared to the newer ships but still a nice ship. The crew were
fantastic, always helpfull and
pleasant. The food was good but we were expecting better, everything we heard about
Celebrity included how great their
food was, we found it to be good but not great. Overall the ports of call were nice and we
felt the excursions were
moderately priced. We were to tired in the evening to go to any shows and only made the
first midnight buffet but it was
good. The bar prices are outrageous and the air-sea program was terrible. Celebrity
clearly chose flights for their
monetary savings and thought nothing about customer comfort. Hospital was vey steep,
$220.00 for a 5 minute consultation
and a few days worth of medication for a bladder infection. We did enjoy this cruise but
if Celebrity is condidered a premium
line then we will go back to value and Carnival.

This was our first, and probably last, cruise on Celebrity Cruise lines. We opted for a 2
day package in Acapulco prior to our
cruise and found the hotel to be less than satisfactory eve though it had been billed as
superior. On the day we transferred
to the ship we ended up spending an hour in traffic and then an additional half hour
sitting on the bus at the terminal
because of poor coordination on the part of the cruise line. The terminal was very small
and it appeared they tried to
transfer all of the passengers taking the various packages at the same time. Once inside
things went very smoothly with the
staff being very efficient.
When we arrived onboard, to our suprise, our luggage had already arrived at our cabin. The
cabin was neat and clean, but
the arrangement of the furniture seemed to make the cabin seem small and cramped. The
cabin was equipped with a
mini-bar which was locked throughout the cruise as the key was not made available to us...
The ship itself was beautiful from the outside, but a bit of a disappointment from the
inside. If you are looking for the grand
atriums featured on other lines this is not the ship for you. Given the lack of a central
meeting area the ship seems small
and somewhat disorganized inside. Additionally the lack stores and shops onboard leaves
little to do but gamble and/or sit
in the various lounges and bars while sailing during the at sea days.
The staff was poor to excellent depending upon the circumstance. Or room was kept clean
and spotless, our waiter was
excellent, our busboy was only fair, the lounge service was good to excellent and the
various other service providers wer
only fair. It was not uncommon to hear the senior staff yelling in public at the staff for
poor service.
The itinery itself, with the obvious exception of the Panama Canal, left a lot to be
desired. Our first stop was a half day at a
small port in mexico which after being in Acapulco had nothing to offer. We next stopped
in Costa Rica and in the words of
the cruise director there is nothing to do there but take a tour package to San Juan (all
day trip) or take the shopping
package (all day trip). The port is a small industrial village 2 hours, and $150 via taxi
from San Juan the capitol city. Next
was Cartegna which was declared off limits by the US government in December. The cruise
line advised us of this but said
they would stop anyway. They offered a tour of the city for those who dared but little
else. We next went to Arube but arrived
very late so only had 2 hours to shop before the shops closed for the day. We spent an
additional 7 hours in port for those
that opted to dine in town or gamble in the more friendly casinos. Lastly we stopped in
St. Thomas the shopping mecca of
the world. Since it was Sunday the shops closed at 1 PM, but that left ample time to shop,
eat and explore the island.
Disembarkation was a nightmare. We were told that customs would only allow small groups at
a time to leave the ship so
as to allow the the opportunity to adequately search the luggage. When we finally got off
the ship we found the customs
agents to be most friendly and saw no one being searched.
In closing the trip through the canal was wonderful, the food and food service was very
good to excellent, cabin service was
also very good. The rest was no better than average. The ship is billed as 5 stars but
probably is closer to 4. We will
continue to cruise in the future but do not anticipate using Celebrity again.

My wife and I just returned from a 15 day cruise on the Zenith of Celebrity Cruise Line
through the Panama Canal. We selected Celebrity because of there
five star rating and booked over a year in advance. We have cruised on Sitmar (no longer
in business) Princeses, and Holland America. We boarded in
Acapulco, Mex. and got off in New York. The only information about the trip was what was
in the cruise brochure and what little our travel agent could give
us. I had lots of question that could not be answered without help from the head office. I
first let my travel agent try to find out then I called the companys
800 number and found out that even then I could not get answers. Simple things like; How
many formal dinning nights we would have? as this was not
printed in the brochure for a 15 day cruise,What shore excursion would be offered? We had
wanted to arrive in Acapulco earlier so as to see the town
and also stay in New York a few hours but the cruise line would not arrange for us to do
that. We could do that on our own at a big cost to us. The head
office was even hateful at times.
The ship was beautiful, clean to a fault. Someone was always vacuuming, polishing and
painting. The ships crew (Greek)were very gracious. The captain
had one of the most friendly personality we have seen. The galley and dinning
personnel(Indian,Russian,South American)(very mixed) were very good.
The meals were super. I gained 12 lbs. They offer two seating and a buffet. The buffet runs
most of the time(6:30am-8:30pm).We only had three formal
nights. Which I thought for a fifteen day cruise was not enough. Near our table a man in
his mid to late 30s and with his family came to the dinning hall with
open shirt and long pants on formal nights. Nothing was said to him about his dress. I
felt that the Maitre D that greets everyone as they enter should
have suggested that he try room service or the buffets on the formal and informal nights.
There were others that also did not follow the dress code. The
ship even has tuxes to rent. Cakes, pies, donuts I would rate as poor. The rest of the
food was superb. They only had three Midnight buffets that were
grandiose.
The shore excursion personnel were very poor. They treated the passengers rudely and most
of the time were poorly organized and poorly informed
about the excursions offered.
The cruised director, Dennis Sciortino was a delight. The entertainment was very poor.
They had three nights of what they called Vegas Shows. The show
girls(all English) were high energy and very good. These were poor quality as to Vegas
standards. The other nights they have one man show or dancing
like you would find in a bar. Every night after dinner and show about 10pm the ship had
nothing going on for a couple of hours not even lounge singers
except for the Casino(We are not gamblers). We were running on fumes by this time in the
day and needed something to keep us busy and from fallen
asleep. This hour of so did us in most of the times so we ended up going to bed and
missing things.
We had six days and nights of rough seas. The ship offered Merazine for those who needed
it. You could see a doctor and get a shot($50) if you needed.
The ship had sick sack placed around for your convenience. The room stewards were handy
all the time for what ever your needs were. They were
wonderful.
Our room was larger than we had expected, had more drawers than we could use, and two
closets. In one of the closets there was a safe for your
valuables.NICE.The bathrooms had a hair dryer but you need to take your own. You may need
to take a clock for your room We were on the 6th floor very
handy to everything. The elevators Very SLOW. We walked most of the time.
Their children's program for the cruise was poor. At times kids were playing and running
in the halls and appeared to be bored.
I hope you have smooth sailing and the wind at your back.

This was my very first cruise, and I am anxious to go on another! Everything about it was
superior and I could not have asked for more. My parents have cruised
several times before, on the Horizon and the Zenith from Celebrity, and they were right on
the mark with their description of just how great cruising can be! I
must say that for a first-time cruiser I was highly impressed. The service was
impeccable... our cabin steward, Wilfred and his assistant, Judas, were so quick in
their actions, you could truly leave for 5 minutes and return to fresh towels and a new
bucket of ice and bottle of Evian. The food was magnificent! Our waiter,
Branko, and our busboy, Jose, could not have done better in their duties, and because we
were so nice to them, they really went beyond their responsibilities in
return. The wine steward, John, entertained the table with quick little magic tricks each
night as well. The presentation of all of the food was also remarkable...I
could not believe how some things were actually accomplished, from the carved vegetables
and fruits, to the watermelon castle, ice carvings, parade of baked
Alaskas with flaming lemons on top, and of course the napkin creations of my
nimble-fingered favorite waiter in the world, Branko. The buffets were excellent, as
were the ever-present and friendly bar-service people by the pool. The Celebrity Signature
Card offers a quick way to pay for anything on the cruise, from casino
to bar to shoppes to shore excursions, and so on. At the end of the trip you may pay off
this tab with a credit card or with cash if your bill is small. I enjoyed what
I saw of the entertainment, and the cruise director, Dennis Sciortino was great fun. The
final show, I'm sorry to say, I did not see, since I was busy running
around the ship finding a safe place to meet secretly with a certain crew member whom I
took a liking to (hmm, did I say that?), but everyone else said it was
wonderful, including international recording star from Britain, David McClaine, singing
the song 'This is the Moment' from Jeckyll & Hyde. I thought, however, that
teh magic show with Sarah & Bob Trunnel was weak and lacked actual creativity. Bermuda
itself is the most wonderful place I've ever been, and offered so many
unique opportunities that one simply does not encounter in the USA. Pastel houses, an odd
but beatiful parade in Hamilton on Bermuda Day, May 24th, the
beginning of summmer for them, great wool, tartan, and Irish linen shoppes, both in
Hamilton and St Georges, and of course the ever-present Bermuda shorts,
which seem quite sexy on some men. Scooters or motorbikes are a great way to get aroud if
you understand the left-hand road system. The beaches are
awesome and the water is warmest at night. The tree frogs, or coquis, offer a beautiful
seranade to a night walk or horse-drawn carriage-ride. I cannot say
anything bad about Bermuda, Celebrity cruises, or the Zenith itself. Everything was
exemplar and I cannot wait until I can go back again!!!!!

This was our first sailing as a family; I had previously cruised on the Rotterdam in 1982.
Our bus ride/embarking procedure was smooth as silk and
we were escorted to our room by a Celebrity staff person. The room was a tad small for
four people, as our 8 year son and 4 year old daughter
accompanied us on this wonderful vacation. The eating commenced immediately and did not
stop until 2 a.m. The food is diverse, tasty, and always
presented perfectly, and we continued to be amazed meal after meal. The also had a
children's menu, so my kids were as happy to go to dinner
as my husband and I were. The Zenith had a Youth Counselor, Amie, who tended all the kids
on board from 9 am to noon, 2 pm to 5 pm, and 7:30
to 10 each night. She did activities, arts and crafts, took them to movies, and paraded
around the ship in costume for all to admire. My kids would
run down the hall when it was time to go, as the minutes in between felt like days to them
while waiting to go back to the playroom. Bermuda was
lovely, and we docked in Hamilton for the first part of the week. I did not participate in
the ship's scheduled tours, and do regret this and will be
sure and take advantage of this next time. So we found our own things to do and would run
back to the ship for meals at noon and 6 pm. Next
stop was St. Georges, with a lovely little beach called Tobacco Bay. I still cannot get
over the azure color of the water, I had never seen anything
so inviting and so warm and clean. I hear we had the calmest seas in several weeks, and
did not hear of any seasickness. I did have one little thing
that bothered me, despite all this pleasure. I took my daughter to the two pools one day
(at sea) and the chairs we mostly occupied but some had
towels or other belongings on them to ward off perspective loungers. I watched two such
chairs for 45 minutes go unoccupied. When I asked the
person sitting near them if I could use them I was told that her friends were coming right
back. So down we sat for another half hour, and still the
chairs were idle. So after an hour and fifteen minutes of walking in circles, we left. I
thought maybe pool personnel should clear unused chairs after
say, a half hour to prevent such chair saving practices. They are, after all, about the
pool areas anyway, cleaning and clearing other things. We
shall look forward to our next voyage. We loved Zenith and cannot wait for our next visit
to Bermuda.
