We were on a family vacation. There were 18 of us altogether, 8 children aged 12 years
down to 4 months. We brought 3
nannies with us and boy were we glad that we did. The childrens program leaves a lot to be
desired. There is one program
for all the children, it is NOT broken down into age groups. Therefore the 12 year olds
are doing the same thing the 2 year
olds are doing. The food is not geared to children at all. There is no childs menu.
Fortunately, they do serve a pasta dish
each night and that is what the children ate. We did order hamburgers for the children one
night to be served the next
evening, which they did, but they were not good. There concept of fresh bread or rolls or
buns is nothing like we consider
fresh. The ship is mostly European passengers. All announcements are made in 4 or 5
languages. This is not necessarily
bad, just time consuming. The rooms were very spacious. The bathrooms in particular were
very nice. It is a lovely ship and
the cabin steward was joyful even cleaning up after all of us. Our waiter was a delight as
well...he really took a shine to the
small children and took them all over the dining room to show them off. My husband and I
have taken several cruises and in
fact our very first cruise was on the Costa line, the Carla C, lots and lots of years ago.
If we were to be making our plans for
this trip all over again and knowing what I know now, I would choose a different ship. We
don't like being on a ship with 2500
passengers, that is one of the reasons we chose this ship. But I would do more extensive
research to find one that suited
our needs for this particular trip.
