This was our first cruise, and was a positive experience, overall. We got the cruise at a
bargain rate with the air-sea package, and feel we received
good value for our money. This is a beautiful ship, with marble and wood paneling
everywhere, and no neon lights anywhere. If you are looking for
glitz and flash, choose another line.
The cabins are roomy and well equipped. An outside cabin has 200 sq. feet, and a large
porthole that gives the cabin a bright feel. The cabin was
well maintained by a steward who was seldom seen, but efficient. We found the
entertainment to be quite ordinary, and often skipped the show
lounge. The band that played poolside was terrific and fun, and the band in the lounge was
good ,too.
The passengers were 40-50 years old, on average, but most were fun and friendly. There
were several newlywed couples onboard, but they were
greatly outnumbered by anniversary and older cruisers. Probably half the passengers were
European, and the announcements were in many
languages. The food in the dining room was excellent, with efficient and friendly service.
The Lido buffets were repetitious and ordinary, but there
was a great variety of items served. For breakfast, there are eggs and omelets cooked to
order, and a beautiful outdoor area to eat and enjoy your
coffee. If you are on the late seating for dinner, grab a cocktail and head for the
hot-tubs at the stern. They are deserted at about 6:00 pm.
We had a great time on our introduction to cruising, and look forward to going again.
