My husband and I sailed on the Costa Victoria February 15, 1998. It was my second cruise and my husband's first cruise. We travelled with 4 other
couples, all ages 24-30. We departed from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and the weather was o.k. We had to wait for about 300 passengers that were
delayed. We arrived to our room and our luggage took about 2 hours before we received it. But this is understandable with so many people on a
boat. I have sailed on the Costa Allegra about 5 years ago and found the crew to be much more outgoing. We found that the crew was not
understanding our English and that we were constantly repeating ourselves. There was not much variety in the food for breakfast and lunch, not to
mention how long it took to prepare. One morning the waiter forgot our orders completely. This was not what we were expecting. When we did
receive our food, it was cold or warm. The pizzeria was very pretty, however, we did not like the fact that the pizza's were already made to cook.
There was too much cheese, and we did not have much of a selection. The waiters were also rude in the pizzeria. There was bottled water in our
room, but we had to pay 2.75 for it. For the price we payed on this cruise it should have been free. The drinks were not all that great and the
poolside waiters never came around when you wanted them. I have to mention "Melbourne" was one waiter whom we made friends with because he
was so outgoing, unlike the others. The dinners were great, and our matre'd, Gaetano was nice, however a bit annoying. Our waiters Miguel and Ilija
were nice and funny, however, they did not speak English well and it was hard to communicate with them. The photographers were great, especially
Branimir. He was from Croatia and very friendly. He presented himself very professional. The pictures were absolutely beautiful. I could not help but
buy almost everyone. The casino staff was also pleasant to be around. Skip, from New Zealand, was friendly and always at our attention if we
needed something. I was surprised to see the lack of Italian crew. On the Costa Allegra, it was nice to here the crew speak your second language.
Our room was always kept clean. Everytime we left our room and came back it was clean again. I thought the boat was too big and that next time I
would choose to go on a smaller ship, maybe with 900 people instead of 1900. Maybe that's what took away some of the attention. The captain was
not very friendly. One night our table bought his table a bottle of wine and it took about a half hour before he acknowledged us and we were sitting
right next to him.

There were not many shows that were interesting at night. I wish there would have been more of the night life. You don't see much of the crew and
when you did they rarely said hello.

I think this boat needs some friendlier people who could understand and speak the English language. I don't know that I would consider going on
another Costa ship, unless it was much smaller like the Allegra.
