My 30-year old daughter and myself just returned from a 14-day Panama cCanal cruise, with stops in St. Thomas, Aruba, Costa Rica and Acapulco. I opted
(for the first time) for a verandah cabin, and certainly agree with others comments about how hard it will be ever to cruise without one again! We love this
ship and it's staff. I can truly say that our stewardess was the absolute best I've ever had in nine cruises - warm, friendly and unceasingly responsive to
every request, with a big smile (and we had breakfast room service almost every day - which is served by the stewardesses.) The cabin amenties were
very good, and the shower was excellent - something rather rare on ships, I've found. The beds were firm, I thought, but fairly comfy, and the cabin
overall was lovely and spacious. It was particularly nice to have an in-room safe, since on an upscale ship like this you dress up more, & hence are likely to
take along some nice jewelry. A few comments (pro & con) on embarking & disembarking. We live in the SF Bay area, and Crystal's air-sea program
booked us SF to Houston the day before sailing, then overnight there, then Houston to San Juan & the ship. Though they DID have Crytsal people in
Houston to direct us, and to pre-board everyone (hence to be able to go directly on board in San Juan with no check-in lines, theorectically), they did NOT
have people that we could find, upon arrival in San Juan, and no-one to specifically direct those of us who HAD pre-boarded where to go - - consequently
many, many people just got into the check-in line. I decidely to go up to the front check-in desk (pssing by about 100 people in line) and ask; he said, ' Oh,
you can go right on aboard' - so we did. But how many others went through that long line, only to find that they didn't have to?? Also, a PRINCESS person
directed us where to go - - wake up, Crystal - it's the single area that needs real attention, I think. Disembarking, on the other hand, was a breeze. We
were in SMALL color-coded groups, & were told ahead of time when our group would be called. That time came (9:35 am), they called us, & we walked aff
the ship, found our luggage & left! Wow! One last area for comment is the vibration. I'd read ahead of time about the ships stability & smoothness in the
water, so I was disappointed to find that there was considerable vibration, even in our forward-area cabing; also, she would do a kind of side-to-side
'shimmy' feelng-thing, which one of our more-knowledgeable table-mates said could come from the props being out of sync with each other. This made
sleeping a bit difficult, but all in all she is a great ship. Great people, outstanding service, elegant but still casual surroundings, excellent food and
entertainment to rival the best anywhere! Wow again! Will I cruise with Crystal again?? In a hearbeat!!!
