CRYSTAL is everything (and more) then I expected. Our 7 day voyage on the SYMPHONY began in San Francisco
with an incredibly easy embarkation; no waiting area, no lines, no hassle...we arrived 2 hours prior to the
suggested boarding time and were allowed to board right away. That first impression set the tone for the rest of
our 7 day cruise down the Mexican Riviera. CRYSTAL is magnificent in virtually every area you can imagine. The
cuisine is extraordinary. The meal I had in one of the two alternative dining rooms is on my list of 10 best meals
ever!

The Entertainment was the finest I've seen at sea...4 nights out of 7 featured the 10 member Crystal Dance
Ensemble....Las Vegas 'show' quality! The hallmark of a Crystal cruise is the service... an attentive stewardess (no
cabin boys on this line) who, at my simple request, brought a very healty portion of Segruva Caviar to our cabin
one afternoon prior to dinner; a lido-deck steward who introduced (then attached) himself to us the first day out,
and was there to meet and greet us (by name), carry our trays, etc., throughout the remainder of the week....even
the Captain was 'out and about' chatting with the guests. I enjoy expresso after a good meal and only had to ask
for it once...the first night...every other night it magically appeared with dessert. Best selection of wines afloat...I had
a private tour of the 'cellar' with the principal wine steward (and learned that the good Calif CABS and French
BURGUNDIES/BORDEAUX age twice as fast aboard ship as they do ashore (the constant movement of the ship
accelerates the aging process!!!). This is a dressier ship then most others....my observation, after having been on a
number of different cruises, has been that on the standard one week cruise about 40-50% of the men wear
tuxedos on the two formal evenings....it was more like 95% on the SYMPHONY. It was also interesting to note that
most people we met aboard were REPEAT Crystal passengers. The company president, Joe Watters, was aboard
and made the announcement that the readers of TRAVEL & LEISURE had once again voted Crystal the NUMBER ONE
cruise line in the world. NO WONDER!
