This was my first cruise on the QE2. Perviously I had made only transatlantic crossings. But I always wanted to do the
Panama Canal Transit on the QE2. And that was a fabulous experience. I had a penthouse cabin (8006) and ate in the
Queens Grill. The cabin was amazing and I will certainly never travel on the QE2 in any other type of cabin. But the
Queens Grill was a great disappointment. On every transatlantic trip the food there has been extraordinary. On this trip it
was- blech! In fact the menu was exactly the same in all of the restaurants. I sure hope this is only true because this trip
was the first leg of the world cruise. But I do not envy those folks who will have to eat that crap for 120 days! I am not
exaggerating, I could not eat over 50% of what they served me- it was terrible. Of course the service was as amazing as
usual. The average age on board was vastly older than me (I would guess 70+), but with the cabin I had I didn't need to
socialize much. I am booked for a tranatlantic trip this summer, I am keeping my fingers crassed. By the way the in cabin
VCR Cunard promises in their brocures doesn't exist.
