This is an elegant ship with a 6-star approach to passenger comfort. The food is varied for all patates. The passenger list
on this cruise included people from Europe, North and South America, Mexico, Australia, India, Japan, and South Africa.
On this segment of her European itinerary we sailed with a full ship. You would not have known it. There were never
times when a crowd was encountered. Even on the dock when several shore excursion busses returned at the same time,
the crew were there to assist everyone in reboarding the ship and to hand out fresh juice and punch although it was not a
particularly warm day. Dining room service was flawless. After the first day, our 2 waiters knew our special needs and
were ahead of us at every turn. We never had to ask for anything. All amenities were there at our fingertips even before
we knew we wanted them. Our cabin stewardess handled our every need with seamless service. She was always there,
but basically invisible. Room service for our morning coffee, etc. was delivered with a smile and always ready whenever
we were. Our special requests--an engine room tour--were handled gratiously. A letter from the Chief Engineer invited us
to join him for a personal tour of the lower decks. A request for an extension cord brought an officer to make sure that I
had what I needed. All in all, this is by far the classiest cruise we have taken. With only 3 days at sea, we did not have a
lot of deck and ship activities, but the ports were interesting, varied and geared for the interests of seasoned travelers.

This was my first cruise on Cunard; my previous cruises have been on Princess ships. I have some knowledge of
embarkation and disembarkation procedures with other cruise ship lines because I have helped friends and family members
embark/disembark at the cruise ship terminal in San Diego (my home town), and in Los Angeles/Long Beach.

We embarked in the port area near Athens in late June for a two week cruise. Embarkation was truly remarkable. Just
moments after our taxi arrived pierside, a Cunard representative greeted us, immediately arranged for our luggage to be
taken aboard, walked us to the ticketing area, where we waited less than one minute to have our documents checked. We
were then offered champagne, ice water or orange juice to take with us (it was a hot day in Athens) while we boarded. A
white-gloved tuxedoed Cunard attendant then showed us to our cabins (there were three of us in two cabins), where our
luggage had already magically been delivered. Our cabin attendant, a young Norweigan woman (who spoke flawless
English), arrived momentarily to introduce herself and explain the services and facilities available for us in the cabin.

Our cabin had a large verandah, a huge walk-in closet, a huge bathroom with an extra-deep tub, a sofa, club chair, coffee
table, desk, plus a credenza with a refrigerator, TV and VCR. The cabin, as in all areas of the ship, was immaculate. No
dirt, no dust, no trace of wear and tear. Cabin service was excellent. Complimentary fresh flowers and fruit were freshened
automatically, virtually daily. The refrigerator was kept fully stocked with our favorite beverage (Diet Coke), and the ice
bucket was perpetually filled with ice. The service was truly beyond belief.

We ate almost all of our meals in the main dining room, though we occasionally had breakfast in the Garden Cafe. The
Royal Viking Sun features single-seating dining for all passengers, so we could arrive for dinner at a time convenient to us,
rather than at an appointed time. The menu was wonderful and included such extras as palate-cleansing sherbet courses
offered between the various courses at dinner time. Dining room service was extraordinary. We had two waiters assigned to
our table (three of us at a table for four). They were both European and spoke flawless English.

The ports we visited during our 14 day cruise included Istanbul, Kusadasi/Ephases, Mitolini, Mykonos, Santorini, Mecina,
Sorrento, Rome (Cetiv.), and Barcelona. Approximately 1/3 of the passengers were remaining on the ship for an additional
14 day cruise. (We met one passenger who takes a three month cruise on this ship every summer).

Truly, the Royal Viking Sun is a little slice of heaven. The ship will soon be going into drydock for some improvements, and
will then be renamed the "Seabourn Sun". If Seabourn operates the ship as well as Cunard has done, then I will definitely
become a frequent passenger on this ship.

Kudos to Cunard's Royal Viking Sun!

Our 'Cruise to No Where', from San Francisco to Monterey, back to San Francisco, and a cruise
through the entire bay, under 5-bridges, all the way up to Martinez, including the Oakland Estuary was
much like a cruise through the Fjords of Scandinavia. This was the largest occupied cruise ship to ever
sail the waters of the Bay and Sacramento River. Fascinating and beautiful. Refurbished just recently,
the ship was in pristine condition. Spacious, meticulous, and a wonderful , happy crew. The lifeboat drill
was professionally conducted and each crew member I observed took the drill seriously. I was very,
very impressed at the conduct and demeanor of the crew. This was my profession at S. F. International
Airport - Fire Chief. Our cabin was meticulous, spacious, beautifully designed, and with all the
amenities. My wife needs closet space and we had an abundance. We attended 3-separate parties and
the service was outstanding and gracious. Entertainment was fabulous and the ampitheater was
gorgeous. The golf driving range was wonderful and I corrected my swing with a 6-iron - this is a must
see for golfers! Laser-automated. Although a very short cruise we were deeply impressed with the
ambiance, the fantastic service, the great food, and all the amenities you could desire. Definintely will
take this ship anywhere.
