This was our third time on the Sea Goddess and our fifth cruise. Obviously, since we
continue to
re-book, we are very pleased with the overall Sea Goddess experience. Despite reviews in
Conde
Nast and others, we have not found any cruise line to surpass the luxury and wonderful
service
that we find on the Sea Goddess. (The Windstar to Tahiti and the Legend through the Panama
Canal are ok, but not anywhere near the same ballpark.) The excursions are included in the
price,
and they are well-planned and informative. There is nothing like being handed a cool moist
towel
and a chilled glass of champagne upon returning to the ship after a hot ride through the
jungle!
The staff knows your name immediately, and that personalized service is so welcome and
sincere,
especially considering the no-tipping-expected policy. Special requests at dinner are
accommodated with pleasure, and the maitre d', Christophe, takes special pride in making
his
guests feel wonderful. Yes, the initial price shock may shave a few years off yhour life,
but the
number of return bookings will tell you that this ship gives a very high return on your
investment.

My wife has always wanted to try a cruise, so for our 25th anniversary I decide that we would give it a try. I
wanted it to be a special memory, something that we might not ever do again. I did a great deal of
research through the Internet to find the right ship and cruise line and eventually settled on the Seabourn
Goddess II. Our trip was from Nice to Nice with stops in Corsica, Italy and the French Riviera.
What can I say, it was a fantastic experience. The ship was everything that my wife and I had hoped it
would be. The staff were excellent and always available to get whatever you wanted. The food was superb
with a wide variety of choices and no feeling of being rushed. Not having been on a cruise before I can’t
comment on how the cabin would compare to other ships, however, we found it to be comfortable and well
appointed.
The first indication of the type of service you receive happens when you board ship. Upon stepping onto
the ship you are greeted by name by the captain and all of the senior staff members. You are introduced
to your chambermaid who provides you with a glass of champagne and escorts you to your cabin where
you find a full bottle of champagne chilling in an ice bucket.
Given its small size you get to know most everyone on the ship, and we found most to be very friendly.
This is not your 1,000 passenger run of the mill ship. The passengers come in all age groups but tend to
be 40+ and economically well off. Doctors, Lawyers, presidents of companies and retired businessmen
were the norm. We also found more notable individuals on board in the form of Frank and Kathie Lee
Gifford and Bruce Jenner and his wife.
A number of the excursions that were available were a bit of a bust. A buss trip around Corsica, a trip to a
gourmet restaurant with a private class with the chief was viewed by those who went as overpriced and not
worth it (we passed on them). I found the trip to Florence much too short (I have to go back to that city and
spend at least a week) but this was not the fault of the cruise. If you are selective the tours can be very
good.
Entertainment on board is limited as the ship is so small, however, the lounge has a three-piece band and
music is played in the evenings. The casino is small with only 3 blackjack tables (generally only one or two
are open) and a few slot machines. However, the camaraderie and fun around the table with the dealer
was great.
It was fun! It was great! We are planning to do it again….
