Rest assured that the problems listed in previous reviews have been attended to. We had a
beautiful
cruise where we were not only treated in a special way by our own host and servers, but by
every crew
member we encountered. The only negative comments I can make include the fact that I was
surprised that
there was no clock in the room. To find out what time it is, if not wearing a watch, I
would have to turn on
the television to the Report From The Bridge channel and wait for the time segment. The
other comment, is
about Embarking. I was very impressed with the terminal, and the ease/speed of paperwork
and baggage.
We did the cruise only, so did not have anything pre-checked. Although it was just past
noon we were
allowed to board the ship where a beautiful lunch buffet was being served. BUT......be
forwarned that this
brunch is mandatory if you are early. You are herded baggage and all (we had more than the
recommended one carry on each) to the restaurant, and not allowed to your cabin first.
Other than that, everything was first rate. The children definitely are there, even if it
is not a vacation time,
but are seen more in the distance as they are kept happily occupied by crew members.
Everything is
organized beautifully and ran smoothly on our cruise. I was nervous after reading so many
negative reports
at this site, so I was on the look out for flaws, but found few.
I was very happy to learn that the Magic is to start 7 day cruises, as 4 was too short
with how busy you are
kept. We had beautiful weather which made it hard to tear ourselves away from the deck to
do much else.
The bar service on deck was excellent, they are there, but not pushy. Also on the pool
deck you could get
hamburgers, pizza, chicken sandwiches, or tacos all day and into the evening.
The food in the restaurants was excellent. When asked how my dinner was one night, I
replied very good.
My server got upset and said 'Then we shall have to fire the chef, as it must be
excellent.' Quality and
presentation was far above expectation. There were several choices, and portions were
generous. We
enjoyed rotating restaurants nightly. We were happily surprised that there were many
tables for 4, and as
our cruise was not full, we were the only 2 at our table. The last cruise I was on all
tables were for 8.
My husband and I found the same magic on the ship as we do at the WDW resorts, and are
looking
forward to the new 7 day cruise. not pushy.

This was our 13th cruise, so we have alot to compare it to. We travelled with our 3 children -
15,12,10 and a couple of friends with their child - 3. We were completely impressed with the
embarkation and debarkation. We have never walked right on the ship and right off without having
to wait a couple of hours, but this time we did. The ship was beautiful and completely Disney. Our
cabin was layed out better than any others but not quite as big as Premier. The welcome aboard
buffet was good. The shrimp was out of this world. We went to make our reservations for Palo for
the first night. We made them for the latest since we had early sitting with the kids. Parrots Cay was
our dining room for the night and they had lobster and filet mignon on the menu. To me, this
restaurant had the best menu of all. We didn't eat as much as we wanted to since we were eating
again later at Palo. Palo was a nice meal. The chocolate souffle was great. The show was a
Hercules show. It was okay. The next day we went shopping only in the Bahamas as we had been
there 6 times already and had seen all of the sights. We went to the Mickey Pool for the kids that
afternoon and they had a ball. This is where they wanted to stay the whole trip. We ate at Lumiers
for dinner that night. It was great also. Especially, the creme brulee. We each had 2 of those. The
show was a pirate ship show. Okay again. We went to the adult comedy show that night. It was like
'Whose line is it anyway' on t.v. We enjoyed it. The next day we went to Castaway Cay. It was cloudy
but we still had a good time. We rented a canoe and paddleboats and snorkeling equipment for the
kids. The barbecue buffet was okay. The kids wanted to go back to the Mickey Pool so we came in
early from the beach. We ate at Animator's Palate for dinner. It was a unique dining experience and
the food was good. They had a dessert sampler plate that was pretty neat. The show that night was
the best - 'Disney Dreams'. This was a nice weekend getaway for the week before Christmas as we
had hoped it would be. I would recommend this cruise to anyone. The only real negative I have
about the cruise is that the itinerary said the fitness center would be open at 6:30 and I woke up
early the first morning and walked up there and the sign said it opens at 8:30. So, I never got to use
it. I walked around deck 10 about 12 times to get in my 3 miles each day. There were so many
activities planned from 8:00 to midnight, if you want to do everything you won't have time to use the
fitness center since it opens so late. Also, I think the gift shops need to have more of a selection of
items other than Disney.

If this is your first ever cruise, you may not notice anything too negative. This was our second
cruise, our first being with Carnival, I have to be honest, we were very dissapointed. Our kids were
11 & 12 and the kids activities were not based for these ages. They were either too old or too young
to enjoy the scheduled activities. We did notice that about half of the computers in the lab were
broken, and also about half of the video games in the game room were broken as well. I'm sorry, but
I think these things were unexceptable..this wasn't so with Carnival!
Our first day on the cruise we orderd a cheese tray from room service, the food was fine, it's the fact
we had to call them 3 times before they would ever come to pick up or beginning to smell tray, and
that was the NEXT EVENING!! :( Our room was not attended to until our 2nd night out only then after
I called and complained about no service.
The dining was wonderful. Our waiter Sam and his assistant Milenko were the joy of our trip for
service. The food in the dining rooms were great! I just wish I could say the same for the rest of the
ship.
You can not eat anytime on this ship. We were scheduled for late seating so our breakfast was at
8:30. If you wanted to snack at 10, tough. The pizza & ice cream stops didn't open until noon, nor
did any lunch items start until noon. The pool snacks closed at 5 and if you were hungry before your
dinner seating (ours was late 8:30) touch! And midnight buffet? Forget it! There was one, if you call
it that, they offered finger sandwiches, fruit, and a piece of Mickey cake. So, in short, if you are hear
all the wonderful stories about cruising and the food..I promise it isn't true with Disney! On Carnival
the 24 hour pizzaria was wonderfully homemade...not so on Disney, it's the frozen school cafeteria
kind. The ice cream isn't custard, it's ice milk. Please, don't expect much food on this cruise.
I won't even go into the fact that we had a burned out light in our cabin and no one ever came to fix
it during the entire cruise even after 4 phone calls. lol
Nassau was wonderful. Be sure not to miss the Atlantis. We finished our tour and ended up wanting
to go on another when we got back to the ship, but that was imposible, there wasn't anyone at the
desks to see what was available.
Castaway Cay is everything wonderful you have heard. But you MUST get off the boat for the
workers work ashore. It's a lovely day at the beach and the food there was pretty good. Again, there
are only certain times you can eat.
I was a little dissapointed that there wasn't more family things to do. In the evenings it was pretty
much adult time with no kids allowed in a lot of areas. I can understand this, but there were some
shows we seen that we thought it should have been a parental choice. They had some good shows,
and the movie theater was a treat for the kids too.
Embarking and Disembarking are truly a dream for this cruise line. Very very easily done. No need
to dread them with Disney.
We managed to have a good time, not letting all the problems ruin our vacation, but would we ever
take a Disney Cruise again? No, I think we all agreed it's back to Carnival for us...or one of the many
others.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

We just returned from a 3 night Disney Magic cruise.....Overall I did enjoy it ..... for a discounted rate of
$303 for Florida resident rate.. it really was worth it... however not everything went smoothly...it's not a
"normal" cruise at all.....it's more of 1/2 cruise and 1/2 extension of their theme parks....The ship Interior
and Exterior are beautiful.. the Deck areas could have done quite without so much Mickey..(he's
EVERYWHERE you want to be..)...you will never forget you are on a disney ship...
In a nutshell, the cruise is great for families travelling with children. (We are a younger couple with out
children) Get at least a Category 9 stateroom.. the larger "split" bathroom is terrific.. probably the best of
any cruise line. the hotel services were great.. our room was kept up very well.. Watch out for 6 and 7 AM
announcements.. they are piped DIRECTLY into each room right above your sleeping head.....
In many instances, the staff could have been better managed (they were definitely not as disciplined as
other cruise lines... On several occasions I observed the crew grouped together shooting the breeze,
etc.) Our head waiter (NOTour main waitress Villija who was very polished and professional) "Anya"
(Avoid her at ALL costs) is to be blamed for screwing up our tables first night of dinner at Lumiere's.
(Dinner took over 2 1/2 hours..... her response was that they were "Waiters" so you have to "Wait"....then
she proceeded to try and force - feed desert to one of the seniors at our table....lets just say, Anya didn't
get very many envelopes at the end of the cruise..) When several guests at our table laughingly referred
to her... she came over (sensing we were laughing at her) and wouldn't leave until we told her what we
were laughing about... when we (of course) refused she literally threw a napkin at us and stormed off...
very unimpressive.
Also, Disney only does 3 courses (most do 4-5 courses at dinner..kind of cheap..) so don't forget to order
extra appetizers..as portions may not be large enough...also, the waiter at Palo seemed miffed when we
ordered more than 3 courses...
With 3 night cruise you do one of each of the 3 dining rooms.. they still haven't figured out how the
rotation will work on the 7 night cruise..
Despite an Adults only area, don't expect too much in the way of adult "night life" type of activities..we
were (not travelling with children) pretty disappointed in things to do after midnight.....Many of the rooms
simply were not open after midnight.....Kind of wierd is their main disco which is decorated like a Barn....
Also, (MAJOR ISSUE FOR US) for Late sitting dinner, the scheduled production show runs at 6:30PM ..
which sort of defeats the point of late sitting... (i.e. you still need to be dressed and ready for either
dinner OR the show by 6:30...way too early in my opinion..and unlike other cruise lines who always
schedule their main entertainment after dinner.) I suppose this is OK if you are traveling with children,
however....Disney is apparently expecting more adults on the 7 night itineraries....so they may enhance
the adult entertainment after hours...
Also, unlike other cruise lines..the main Buffet was not open at anytime I could see other than the embark
buffet..(which was very tasty).. The whole area seemed to be a waste of space.. The only quick meals we
found around were pizza, hamburgers and hot dogs around the pool area.. tasty, but still pretty
disappointing...even Carnival keeps their buffet open nearly 24 hours a day.. you can always do room
service.. but if you are like us, you'll wait LITERALLY 25 minutes for them to answer the phone... (Once
they DID answer the phone, however the service and food was good... not a huge selection of room
service, but not too bad considering it's free...mostly sandwiches..cookies, etc.) The Captains cocktail
party was a very nice touch.. they hand out tons of free drinks in the main atrium and you can take
pictures with either the real captain or captain Mickey... a nice touch...actually kind of elegant..
Also, be sure to try out the spa... for 15$ spend some time in the Rainforest... this is a series of rooms
with different scented steam baths... very very relaxing... dont' forget to do the aromatherapy showers..
the fog shower is the best (sprays eucalyptis)... and the heated chairs...very nice..
Castaway Cay is great.. expect to see lots and lots of children.. they were for the most part well behaved..
(most were exhausted by 8-9PM ...and you can hear them stomping around at 6-7 AM).. Since you are
travelling with an 11year old, your experience should be better than ours. We talked to one of the waiters
at Palo (Very good..well worth the 5 extra bucks..just get reservations as soon as you embark..you need
to go to palos in person..I think at 2PM...schedule it one of the nights you are dining in Parrot Cay - not
the lovliest of dining rooms....it looked like ricky ricardo exploded in there..) about the 7 night itinary.. they
haven't worked it all out yet.. so he kind of suggested that the first couple of cruises may not go very
smoothly... he also had reservations on how well the entertainment would work (Unless you really really
enjoy disney stage shows..) they were thinking about adding magicians, etc. (BTW the Disney Dreams
show is a definite must-see.. VERY disney and also very well done..nice special effects too...it's OK to
skip the Hercules show..)
I don't mean to sound like a complainer...it WAS an enjoyable 3 nights...but being Disney, I think we were
literally expecting Everyting (service, activity and food wise) found on a "Normal" Cruise..but with the
disney touch.....this was different....
If this is your first cruise you don't know what you're missing say on a Holland America or Princess cruise,
etc..... but I can say all in all it was worth it and fun..and for kids..probably the best thing afloat..... Be sure
to get a discounted rate (don't pay full price..it's not worth 2X a normal cruise)..... try AAA or a few
different travel agents..and if you can find a rate comparable to other lines..I say go for it..

We enjoyed our first Disney Cruise experience. We were fortunate enough to only have 1100
passengers aboard so never seemed crowded at all. My husband and I brought along our 5 year old
daughter and she just loved it. (We did choose to leave our 2 year with Grandma and Grandpa and were
glad we did.) The kids club was great, she was in the 3-5 year old section and think she would have done
a little better with the 6-8 year olds since she was just a few months shy of 6, and is a little mature for her
age. She got bored a few times and complained that the dress-up clothes were too small for her. But they
said they can't bend the age groups at all, even for siblings. We never left her for more than a few hours
at a time, but was still a nice break for us. the parents are given pagers and if the children are ever
unhappy or just want their parents, they will page them. The one thing I was glad I did was upgrade to a
room with a verandah. With the 5 year old along we knew we would be confined to our cabin fairly early in
the evenings, so it was really nice to be able to sit out there. Our travel agent had advised against having
the verandah, and when I asked 'why?', she said that 'You'll never want to go back to a cabin without
one.' Most of the other cruise lines do not have as many balcony rooms as the Disney boats. The cabin
was very nice and spacious. My husbands biggest gripe was that they shut down the ice cream place at
8:00, and he likes to have that as a snack before bed. Our other gripe was about how early we had to be
out of our room on the debark morning. If you had the early seating for dinner (which is the preferred
seating for families with young children), your breakfast is at 6:45 am. That is much to early to get tired
worn out little ones up. My husband went ahead to eat while I stayed with our daughter to let her sleep,
and he said that he was the first one in the dining room at 6:44 and not many more had shown up by the
time he left. They have a buffet up on the deck that morning, but they could serve a little more than just
cereal and yogurt when so many people were opting for it. I'm sure that we will go on another one in a few
years when our 2 year old is a little older.

Well, It's Disney and you better have kids or Grandkids to go on this cruise. If you are childless, choose
again!! The boat is magnificent, and you can tell that Disney paid 350 million for her.
Kid's Programs Ou twin girls age 8 had a blast the whole time they were there. Most nights we could'nt
get them to leave and come for dinner. Beepers are issued, so that you can be told when the kids need
to be picked up. Our son (age 10) was in another age category that had the ability (if the parents
wanted) to sign himself in and out of the club. He had some freedom and we found out that most of the
time he went to the club and stayed. Overall a really great program.
Entertainment Overall the entertainment was good. Saw the Tigger movie just as it opened in theaters.
Live shows were good too, with Hercules the muse-ical very entertaining. Adult only shows left alot to be
desired, and one improv comedy show was cancelled cause there were only 12 of us in the audience.
After midnight there was NOTHING going on.
Shore Excursions We did not take any excursions cause we know our way around Nassau and took our
kids to a beach near the Sheraton Hotel. Total cost $4.00 per person each way. (not the $30.00 per
person wanted on the ship)That night we went back to Paradise island and gambled for a few hours until
about midnight.
Private Island Really, really nice. Bring lots of suntan lotion, easy to get fried.
Dining Rooms Food was ok...not great, not bad. Our French service team was not that great and the
assistant server was inattentive if you did'nt buy wine or water etc. Palo's (adults only) was very good and
gave a chance to have some good service. Entree choices are limited to a few and there is a chance a
finicky eater may not get something he likes.
Overall The family had a good time!! Value was good but then again we paid the minimum for our trips.
And remember this is a trip that the kids will enjoy a little bit more than you do. But if you could see the
look on their faces......

My first and foremost comment to anyone considering Disney is, it is a beautiful ship and a great family
vacation. The ship itself is breathtaking, everything sparkles and the crew does a great job of keeping it
that way! The staterooms are very roomy for a cruise ship and there is plenty of storage space in each
one. We did experience some rough seas, but at no fault of the Disney Cruise Line. As a matter of fact
we were not able to pull into the Private Island Castaway Cay as a result of the rough seas. This was a
huge dissapointment because we did try to and it looked beautiful from where we were. But every effort
was made to get into the island, the captain tried for some time and decided it just wasn’t safe. Programs
on the ship are plentiful for families, children and teens. If you are traveling with small children, ask for a
child’s menu in the dining room, because the initial menu doesn’t have alot of kid dishes on it. I would
recommend staying away from the Aft staterooms if possible on the lower deck. The engine noise was
pretty loud on deck 2 in our stateroom, but it was one of the last rooms in the back of the ship.
Especially when the engines where reversed, the entire room vibrated. So if possible get a stateroom
that is midship. All in all it was the vacation of a lifetime and well worth the money. We hope to sail with
Disney again in the future.

I have been on two cruises. My other cruise was on the Carnival Destiny. Overall my experience on the
Disney Magic was a positive one. The ship is beautiful; but I could do without the Disney touches, fortunately
they didn’t go overboard with the Disney characters etc. I'm extremely picky when it comes to details and the
only thing that bothered me about the ships appearance was a few missing buttons in one elevator and a
couple of cracks on the floor of the bathroom in my stateroom. Speaking of the stateroom, the size of the
rooms are adequate; and the idea of having the bathroom divided in two sections is wonderful. Being
somewhat of a movie buff, I enjoyed the cozy movie theater that ran movies several times a day (especially at
11:00 p.m.). It's too bad that they don't provide popcorn and sodas or anything for that matter on that side of
the ship. The food is good and the quality of the ingredients is very good. My only critique here would be that
sometimes the way things were prepared was not as good as the ingredients, a little overcooked or
undercooked etc. Presentation in some cases. Unfortunately, I didn't get to try the alternative restaurant Palo.
It was all booked by the time I learned about it. The shows in the main show lounge were okay. They are
mostly geared to kids; but still I though the dancers could have been better and their voices could have been
a little bit better too, and sets and choreography a little more exciting and not just razzle, dazzle. I enjoyed my
stay at Disney private island. The Adult beach is very clean and pristine which makes it a good place to read
and relax. In Nassau, I went to the Atlantis Resort and is worth seeing once; but I would not pay all that money
to stay there. The only thing that really irked me was the fact that you had to pay $ 2.50 for a Coke even with
meals. At least on the Carnival Destiny they don't charge you for soft drinks with meals and they provide soda
machines on the stateroom floors; which cost $ 1.25 and you could carry anywhere in the ship, including the
show lounges. Overall, I would recommend this ship for families without reservation. As for adult couples, I
think Disney needs to do a little more work to better the competition (i.e.: not charge adults for soft drinks)I
went in a family reunion trip, by the way.
