This was our second cruise on the Seabreeze, the first was to the western Caribbean two
years ago under the Premier line.
I cannot even begin to express what a dramatic change for the worse this line has taken
since Premier has taken over. The
trip started out great. We were met at the airport by a Premier rep and promptly escorted
by bus to the ship. If we had not
been citizens of the U.S. we could have boarded easier. It was even harder to get our
luggage onboard. We found an
entirely different type of personnel on board than we had on our last cruise. This staff
definately was not people oriented.
The most pleasant person on board was the captain, who unfortunately could not spend all
his time with us. The cruise
directors were twins we nicknamed Frick and Frack. Totally out-of-it. The shows, if you
want to call them that were not worth
the time it took to put them together....a far cry from our last cruise with the Platters.
We were with a group of 20, ranging
in age from 21 to 80. For some, it was their third cruise with the line and agreed it
would be their last. We found it to be
very unkept, to put it mildly. Dirty trays and dishes on all the decks and in the Carmen
Lounge, where food is not allowed.
We even saw a busboy wipe his persperation with a table cloth and then use it to set up
the deck buffet table. The new staff
could not speak or understand English welll enough to get orders straight and every
request we made was an adventure.
Our young people also complained about the disco and the dj who was absolutely rude to
them and used fowl language
expressing his feelings. This was reported to the captain. On the last day out of St.
Thomas, the crew threw themselves a
party shutting down 2 decks from the paying passengers. This left a skeleton crew to see
to the needs of the passengers
and we felt really endangered the passengers in the event of an emergency. There were not
enough crew members sober
enough to handle the children, elderly and disabled on the ship. Absolutely unheard-of.
During this party, one of the
busboys fell down a stairway and was serverely injured causing the ship to proceed
full-speed to Miami where medical help
was waiting. This shortened our cruise by about 12 hours. In a group the size of ours, we
had a good time in spite of
everything, not because of it. It's a shame a good thing came to such an untimely
end....meaning the cruise line...formerly
the Premier.
