This was my second cruise on Premier's Seabreeze. My first was in December of 1997. She is
an older, smaller ship, but is an excellent value for the
money. 7-day cruise with air ran $750. I'll try to hit on all the important
highlights/lowlights in areas important to me.
Ports/Shore Excursions- Cozumel- great shopping and night life. Snorkelling was better
than average. Montego Bay- we were discouraged from
doing anything other than the ship sponsored excursions, due to road construction and
general unrest in Jamaica. Grand Cayman- GO TO STINGRAY
RAY CITY! It is a sandbar off a reef in the middle of the ocean. Fishermen used to clean
their fish, and throw discards overboard, which attracted the
Ray. Water is clear, waist deep. You can touch and feed the Ray if you wish, but won't see
much if you stay on the big pontoon boat (there are two
tours available, take the one which allows you to be in the water). Shopping in Grand
Cayman is good, but much more expensive than Cozumel and
Jamaica. There is a US ATM available there, you may need it at that point.
Food- Breakfast buffet is the same everyday, some variety would have been welcomed. Buffet
lunches on Aida (grill buffet style) and Carmen
(buffet) were decent, but dining room lunches were better. Dinners were good. Dining room
service was excellent, but our waiter was the reason.
Midnight buffets were hit and miss. There always seemed to be a theme. Caribbean was good,
Chinese was awful. Grand was the best I've had!
Casino- small, but does have about 20 nickel slot machines.
Cabin- one outlet (not in bathroom) Cabins show their age and could have been cleaner.
Water from faucet was warm, and ice was not replenished
often enough.
Bar- 12 oz. can of Coke was $1.73, and alcoholic drinks were also expensive.
Entertainment- Small boat, small time entertainment.
Activities- Generally, good. I enjoyed the many give-aways of Seabreeze t-shirts, hats,
etc. as well as Cindy's (shopping lady) giveaways of items
from the ports. The disembarkation bingo prize is a cruise. There is also a drawing from
the comment cards for a free cruise at the disembarkation. It
helped the time pass quickly.
Pools/Hot Tubs- I feel obligated to say the brochure advertises three pools. There is only
ONE pool, which was very crowded at all times. It would
have been nice if there was more deck area with sun. Deck chairs were comfortable. The
three hot tubs were nestled together, and were not very
crowded.
Embark/Disembark- The best I have ever experienced! Small ship = less waiting time!
Air/Sea- Arrival air arrangements excellent. Return had me going to Ft. Lauderdale, then
Atlanta for a connection to my destination. Wouldn't have
been so bad if the flights were earlier.
Overall- Seabreeze is a good ship for first time cruisers. This was about the least
expensive cruise I could book, but that allowed me to spend more
money in the ports and on the ship. If you are looking for luxury and amenities, pick a
different ship. If you are looking for a bargain, look at the
Seabreeze!
