My husband and I chose this trip for our 25th anniversary, and were thrilled with our
choise. We were pampered and treated like valued
guests by all on board. Our room steward greeted us by name as we arrived in our room and
our luggage was already laid out on our beds. All
of the staff were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The food was delicious and
several different entree's were offered each night to
suit a variety of tastes. One night we enjoyed the king crab legs so much that both my
husband nd I asked for seconds which were brought
immediately, The other 4 people at our table followed our lead and soon we were all on our
2nd helpings. The fruits, salads and breads were
fresh and plentiful. We loved the shore excursion to Skagway, our favourite stop. We took
the White Pass train and bus tour which ended in a
replica mining camp complete with hookers, story tellers and gold panning for all. In
Ketchikan we canoed in an Indian style war canoe on a
quiet glacial lake and stopped for a lovely snack of smoked salmon, chowder, bread and
jam, and hot coffee cooked over an open fire. It was
great fun racing the other canoe back to shore. We even saw a mother bear and her cubs
along the road by our bus. It is worth it to have a
room with a porthole or window. One morning as I woke up I looked our window and saw a
whale breach about 50 feet away. Another time I
saw a seal float by on an ice flow. The entertainment drew us to the lounge every noght.
We especially enjoyed the floor shows and were
amazed to enjoy a musician named Harry Bee, who played harmoinica like you can't imagine.
It sounds corney but he really put on a great
show. Be careful if you opt for a massage, they lull you into buying products afterwards.
I purchased one tiny vial of moisturizer that cost me
$80!! (as I later found out). It was fabulous trip, and we have already booked our next
cruise. Holland America really treats you well.
