The ships of Holland America offer some of the finest cruising to new cruisers or
repeaters. Their ships are beautiful,
cabins very spacious and the food is absolutely wonderful considering they are very price
affordable. They do not cater to
a young crowd, but young people who want to be catered to, or experience elegant cruising
cannot go wrong as long as
they are told the age groups. They cater to a crowd beginning in the late 40''s to the
late 70's. Lovely intelligent
passengers who are cruisers and mostly repeat guests. The cabins are kept immaculate, and
everyone should advise the
waiter that they want their food served by course, not how the kitchen sends it out. This
way the food is hot when you get
it. The waiter will accommodate this request if he is asked. If not they bring hugh trays
of food out and they sit on a
counter and some of the food turns warm. Just advise how you want it served. The
entertainment is not nearly as good as
the other ships, but you have to give up a little to get some of the best vacation value
out there. The midnite buffets offer
loads of food, but they are served at 11:15 to 12:l5 instead of at midnite. Some
passengers do not know this until they
board. If you have late seating this is of no importance as you are really full. Even
though there is a no tipping policy, they
do expect to be tipped. There are even envelopes handed out at the front desk. This is
strictly up to the individual
passengers, but no one should cruise thinking tips are not necessary. No one will force
you but be aware. The new Private
Island is just gorgeous, similar to Turks and will be magnificent when completed. The
crews and offiers aboard these
ships are the best on the high seas and know how to treat passengers.
