My husband and I went on our first cruise to Alaska. It will definitely not be our last. We choose Holland America because of the luxury it is noted for and
was not disappointed. We did not realize it would be so oriented towards Seniors when we booked our cruise, but that was the pace that worked out best
for us. Both my husband and I are very large people and I must say Holland America bent over backwards to accomodate us. They even put armless
chairs in the movie theatre so we could enjoy the movies. I had made special arrangements for our dining room service for armless chairs, but not at the
lido restaurant. On the first day of our cruise we went to the Lido deck for lunch and they found us two chairs without arms and they stayed there the
whole cruise. It was almost like having a reserved table for two. The cabin was very spacious as well as the bathroom. We were concerned about the
shower, but Holland America has a regular size tub/shower combination. It was the most relaxing vacation we've ever taken. Hubby read so much he
had to take a taxi to a local mall to get some more books at one of our port calls. I just sat and watched the spectacular scenery. I never got tired of
looking at the mountains. Now for the disappointing things. Not much to say here. I had bought a special romantic package, but the home office failed to
notify the ship. This was especially disappointing because I had been raised on the 'Love Boat' and am quite the romantic. I expected roses and
champagne upon embarkation plus much more as the week passed. The first two days were spent fighting with the front desk. They kept saying they had
no record of my paying, even though I had a voucher to prove it. Anyway, on Weds. they got confirmation I did in fact pay for it and they would try and
put together something from what was available on the ship. The magic was already gone from the moment, so I asked for a refund, which was provided.
Room service food left a lot to be desired, but we only used this once when I was just too tired to go to dinner. We were very lucky with the weather, it
was sunny almost every day. We were planning on going to Alaska again in two years, but I don't think I can wait, so we will probably go again next year.
Since we are now Alumni, I'm sure we will go Holland America again. We set our standard pretty high for any other cruiseline to meet. I think we will be
taking my Parents along this time. I think they will enjoy the slower pace environment.

I highly recommend this cruiseline for supersize people. Just ask and they will accomodate your seating requirements. If you have any questions or
concerns, please feel free to e-mail me.

Enjoy Alaska!!!
