We were on the third sailing of the newly stretched Majesty. We were a little nervous having heard about a less than smooth
first sailing two weeks earlier. I am happy to report that, except for minor air conditioner noise in the Palace Theatre, all was
wonderful. My wife and I have sailed on Carnival and Holland America and found that this was the friendliest of all!! It may
have been due to the size of the ship. Even with an extra 110 feet it is still smaller than the two previous cruises that I was
on. We left approximately 90 minutes later than scheduled but still arrived in Bermuda on time. The weather was rainy and
overcast for Tues., Thurs. and Fri. Wednesday was beautiful and we took advantage of the a scooter rental from Wheels.
Navigated our way to the far end of the island and visited the DockYard and then the beaches Elbow and HorseShoe Bay on
the way back. Also did the walk about with Roberta from the Fitness Program. She was a wonderful person with a really
dynamic personality! The busses leave a little to be desired. We purchased a one day pass for $10- per person and went
into Hamilton for the day. Ended up trying to get out of the city at 3:30 p.m. - during rush hour. While we did manage to get
on the first bus that pulled up we were dismayed to learn from a group of school children that even though they hold valid
bus passes, the drivers have been instructed to not let them on until after all tourists have boarded. This means that they
often have to watch as several busses come and go which makes their attempt to get home even more frustrating and much
longer. This was sad. The water was warm (70 degrees) and the air temeratures ranged from 65 to 75 degrees. The cabin
walls were thin...I know because I could hear the gentleman next door snoring in the night!! We were in an outside cabin on
the 6th floor. It was a Category A room. We found is spacious enough for the two of us. The other couple that we went with
were in a Category C cabin and they found that a bit cramped. I don't think that I could have been happy in their cabin. One
thing to keep in mind if you are getting and outside cabin is that the even numbered rooms look out onto St. George and the
odd numbered ones look out onto the bay. Would I do it again? Yes....but during a warmer time in July or August. We ran
into 20+ foot seas on the trip back....in the middle of the Captain's Farewell Dinner. So I went to the room to lay down which
is where 20% of the passengers ended up while my wife ate my portion of lobster tail!! I believe that most everyone had a
great time in spite of the seas and the weather. Debarkation was great! Pulled into port at around 5 a.m., Customs cleared
the ship by 9 a.m. and by 11 a.m. I was on Route 95/1 North heading for home!!

This was our sixth cruise and we were excited because we were departing from Boston our main city. We were
concerned because of the reported problems reported of the Majestys first two cruises out of the yard.

The embarkation process was very good it took about 15 mins. not bad. The weather on departure was somewhat
rainy which put a damper on the sail out of the harbor. After that the weather was perfect which made for a really
great cruise.

I must say that the cruise staff was the most friendly that we have had the pleasure of sailing with, they really
seemed concerned about us. The entertainment was really great the Mickey Finn group was outstanding, the
comedian was the best we've seen on a ship and the rock and roll group from Boston was outstanding.

The food was very good the equal of the other ships we've sailed and better than we expected. The pizza was ok
not as good as Carnival but that was good because I gained 5 pounds as it was.

The cabin was very small the smallest we've sailed in since we sailed on the old Doric in 1978, but since we spent
little time in the room it was ok.

The casino staff were really friendly I had a good time and broke about even. I did notice lots of people hitting on the
slots which was different from most cruises which seem to have machines that just take and take

The ship was very clean and rarely did you see any trash at all, they really work the cleaning well.

Bermuda was even better than I remember, it really is a wonderful island to visit. I rate it the best of the best.

Overall it was a great cruise experience, I really like the departure from Boston not having to pay to fly to San Juan
or New York.

I can recommend this cruise to anyone and have nothing but praise for the entire crew.

Bermuda is truly paradise and the Majesty was a great way to visit. We had been anticipating this cruise
for more than a year and were not disappointed. The port of Boston is very convenient for us and it was
easy to find the ship. Embarkation always seems long, but was actually quite efficient. Word of warning,
don't arrive before 12:00 as the disembarking traffic is heavy. Docking is St. George is truly the way to go.
We visited Hamilton and found it to be hot and noise, while St. George was quaint and quiet. It was a relief
not to disembark and be immediately accosted by vendors, as we were in Nassau on our last cruise. We
purchased a 3 day bus pass and were glad we did. We had access by bus or ferry to wherever we chose
to visit. We visited the crystal caves & Hamilton. We located a gorgeous moongate in Belmont for our
honeymooing friends. We lucked out and discovered the beach at St. John's Bay. Pristine, gorgeous and
virtually uninhabited. We spent two relaxing afternoons alternately swimming in the turquoise water and
snoozing in the sun. The cruise director was very helpful and gave us a number of great ideas including
Carol Holding's water color studio and the Whitehorse Tavern. The tavern is just off the ship on the left
and be sure to visit George the bartender in the outdoor bar. He makes an awesome Mai Tai. Although it
was expensive lunching out, we lunched out twice in Hamilton as it was hard to return to the ship when you
were out sightseeing.

We had a wonderful waitstaff in the dining room and we found the food selection and quality to be very
good. There was always a simple baked chicken breast entree offered. We alternated breakfasts and
lunch between the buffet and the dining room. While we preferred the quality of the dining room food, the
flexibility offered by the buffet was welcome on several days. Drinks are expensive, but strong enough to
be satisfactory.

We found the selection of lounges to be excellent. You could always find the right mood and atmosphere
in which to relax whether you wanted to party or sit talking quietly. We enjoyed several of the shows, but
did not attend them all as they were somewhat repetitive. Mickey Finn was lots of fun for one night, but we
did not go back for seconds.

We did not take advantage of tours and groups, but chose to make our own itinerary. This worked for us

We had one of the new outside cabins (636) and found it to be spacious enough for the two of us to be
comfortable. The views in St. George are wonderful. We had no problems with the room. We could hear
the folks next door opening and closing their drawers at times. The steward was less than perfect, but
okay. I had to request he replace our bottled water a number of times, he couldn't seem to get the bed
made up the way we would have liked and he overcharged us greatly for an item we used. Unfortunately,
he did not bother to get it fixed and I had to deal with it on the final morning which meant standing in a long
line. Since he had 5 days to make the correction, neither the purser nor we were happy. I regretted that
we had tipped him the evening before.

We found the cruise to be much more casual in dress than expected. We found the photograph to be
excellent and purchased a wonderful formal portrait. You just have to accept that they are always around
with a camera. The sailing parties were great fun and we enjoyed seeing whales, dolphines and
submarines.

Bermuda was amazing and we would love to return someday. We would not hesitate to sail on this ship
again. The first night down was a little rocky, but we felt the ship handled it well. On the way back, we
never felt a thing although we passed through several thunderstorms on the last night.

I would welcome any inquiries from anyone with questions and thank the folks who previously posted and
accommodated my own questions.

We traveled on the Norwegian Majesty to Bermuda for a family reunion which is a great way for a large group to
travel. We enjoyed the trip very much. The cabin, Category B, was very spacious and our room steward was
perfect. Dinners were always fun since we had a great waiter. The breakfast buffets up on deck were great,
however, the lunch buffets were unimpressive and seemed like hot lunch at a school to me. We ate most lunches
in the dining room. Entertainment was some of the best I have seen on a cruise ship, but get to the show room
early as the best seats go fast. Many obstructed sight lines in the show room. During the days at sea, deck space
was at a premium and it seemed so crowded (the ship was very full). Shore excursions could be confusing
because the cruise line rarely had staff available to direct you where to go when you got off the boat. You kind of
felt like you were on your own to find the independent person running the excursion. However, the excursions
were great. The golfing and snorkeling were fantastic. Anyone who golfs should not miss this opportunity to play
on courses with such beautiful surroundings. You'll save money just booking your tee times directly with the golf
courses vs. through the cruise lines shore excursion desk. The drinks were the best I've ever had on a cruise
(strong). Overall we all had a great time.

This was a 10-night repositioning cruise from Boston to San Juan. This was an extension of the regular itinerary; sailing
on a Sunday afternoon, we arrived in Bermuda on Tuesday morning, then setting sail again on Friday at sunrise, we
cruised south to St. Martin/St. Maarten, St. Croix, and St. Thomas, before ending on Wednesday morning in San Juan.
Our initial thoughts were that there would not be very many folks under 30 and we were correct. We did not meet any
folks on this cruise who were on their first cruise. We had not cruised in almost three years, so we were mentally ready
for this vacation. It was very, very restful and we enjoyed the ports of call, our dinner table mates and the overall
experience of cruising. We had main seating in the Seven Seas Dining Room (the larger of the two dining venues). We
were assigned to table #25 which was set up for 10 (as we had requested a large table, we were pleased with this
number of co-conspirators); however, this table should have been set for only 8, as 10 proved to be extremely crowded.

Fortunately, one couple found it too crowded and never returned, so the eight of us had a very nice time. This was my
third NCL cruise and was a bit disappointed in the service and food in the dining room. NCL used to have a pasta
course every evening and it was not offered on this cruise. Several times, the fish selection was dry and seemed to
have been overcooked. There was one evening when our deserts were not presented to us until after 8:00 p.m. No
apology was offered for the delinquency. We had to ask every evening for the fresh pepper, most times one would
expect the busboy to appear with the pepper as the salads are being served. Desserts were no better than ordinary,
with the exception of the ice cream, which was outstanding. Our cabin (325) was low and forward in the non-stretched
portion, and was a potential triple, which gave us plenty of closet and floor space. We visited in one cabin that was a
quad, and they had even more room. We did not experience any ship noise, nor noise from the neighbors or
passageway. Others at our table did complain of creaking in their cabins, all of which were in the new added-on portion
of the ship.

There was a significant tear in the carpeting in our cabin and I sent a message about it to the officer in
charge of maintenance (nothing was done about it while we were aboard). Speaking of maintenance—the ship was
clean; however, many little things seemed to have been overlooked. In the Café Royale, where I ate good cinnamon
rolls for breakfast, there were many lights that needed attention. On the fourth day, I wrote to the officer in charge of
maintenance about them and they were replaced or fixed two days later. I should not have had to bring this to their
attention. There also are several service doors that squeak loudly. In the Polo Club lounge (great for pre-dinner piano
music) the service door at the rear of the bar always squeaked, thus diminishing my enjoyment of the music and restful
time before dinner. Worst experience—the delay in getting luggage on and off the ship. We arrived only 30 minutes
prior to scheduled sailing, due to a late flight and one piece of lost luggage and the check in procedure was smooth (we
were the only passengers there). However, we were delayed by one hour in sailing, due to the inability to get the
luggage on in a timely fashion. Not a large ship, one questions how long it would have taken to get all aboard on
something larger than 1800 or more passengers. Then, in San Juan, although we berthed shortly after sunrise, it took
until after 10 a.m. to get the luggage onto the pier. Customs was not the problem, as we had cleared customs in St.
Croix two days earlier.

There was absolute inefficiency in the luggage handling on and off the ship. NCL should be
ashamed of their inability to get the job done in a timely manner. I will mention the entertainment…as others have noted
here, the Jean Ann Ryan Co. of entertainers is top-notch. A low ceiling in the show lounge restricted them, but they
adapted and really put on some extraordinary shows. In Bermuda, there are restrictions as to what can be offered in the
way of entertainment while tied up for a long time, but the alternative entertainment seemed to please the crowds. My
wife thoroughly enjoyed her beauty salon/spa experience, with wonderful, courteous staff. One time, we tried to get into
the Jacuzzi and the temperature was at least 20 degrees too hot, so be wary of that. A very enjoyable cruise, we will
return to Bermuda and cruise again on NCL, but a letter is going out to them about this thing with the luggage
on/off-loading

Review of the NCL Majesty Boston to Bermuda 10/3/1999

This was our second cruise, first time with NCL. The check in process at the Black Falcon terminal was quick and painless.
We found our stateroom (865) on the Viking deck with no problem. The room was quite small, even just for my wife and
myself. It was a category C room. I would recommend the B or A, they were much bigger. Other than the size, the room
was fine. The picture window had a partially obstructed view, which meant we saw the bottom part of the lifeboat. But that
did not interfere with our view. This room was in the newly 'stretched' section of the ship. I believe our furnishings were a
bit newer than the other ones. But they other rooms appeared fine also.

We had smooth sailing all the way to Bermuda. We enjoyed our day at sea just relaxing. There were plenty of standard
activities to keep us busy if we wanted to. We enjoyed the shows that they put on. There were comedians, musicals,
dance shows. We were especially impressed by the caliber of the dancers and singers. There was this one dancer, who
must have had years of ballet training. She was doing moves that were just incredible! All in all, the shows were very
entertaining and of good quality. They also had a band 'Natural Vibes' who played all types of music by the pool. They
were very good! They also had plenty of standard fares like bingo, casino, and other games to keep you occupied (and
part with a few $!). The one activity that I was disappointed with was the Art Auction. They advertised it each day with 'free
raffle to give away a piece of art work'. Well, I attended every one and they only gave away 2 pieces of art work. I felt this
was false advertisement and I complained via their comment form.

As far as food goes, there were plenty. For breakfast, we mostly ate from the buffet on the top desk. We did not feel like
having a sit down formal breakfast. The buffet had a good selection, and they also offered made to order omelets. As for
lunch, we stuck with the buffets again. Good selection of meats vegetables, breads, salads. And there is always some type
of made-to-order food. We enjoyed the Oriental noodles cooked in front of you. We ate dinner in the Seven Seas dining
room. There was a slightly smaller Four Seasons dining room and a specialty restaurant Le Bistro, both in the newly
stretched part of the ship. The Le Bistro was pretty neat. They only served dinner (6:00 - 11:00) and do not take
reservations. Their food appeared to be gourmet and would be a great alternative from the main dining rooms. They
served the same menu every day, I guess to discourage from eating there all the time! ;-) Of course there were the
midnight buffets every night. With two of the nights being the spectacular ones. One was the Chocoholic and the other the
Gala buffet. They were all very nice to look at, but we just couldn't eat any more at that time of the night. There were
always opportunities to eat, from 24 hour room service (sandwiches/soup/salads), pizza, tacos, afternoon tea. You
definitely did not go hungry. We do feel that the quality of the food was average. The dining room food reminded me of a
typical banquet hall and the mass-produced dinners. They were not fancy and at times, not very tasty.

The ship docked in St. George the entire time that we were in Bermuda. This was nice since we don't have to worry about
rushing back each day since the ship did not leave. St George is a very quaint little town. There were many historical
buildings and there is a self guided walking tour. You can pick up a map at the visitor's center which is right by the dock.
There is a very amusing historical reenactment a few times a week at noon time, not to be missed. There is a nice small
beach (Horseshoe Beach), less than a mile from the ship. It is about a 20 minute walk or you can take a taxi. It is great for
snorkeling since the water is rarely deeper than your waist. There were plenty of fish to be seen.

We took a bus to the Aquarium, which was about 1/2 way to Hamilton. It was very interesting, a bit small. But they had
plenty of beautiful marine life. We were surprised that they also had a small zoo and had all types of exotic animals. It was
a nice way to spend a few hours, especially on a rainy day. We also went into Hamilton and took a ferry ride to the west
end where the Royal Naval Yard was. It was late in the day and we just walked around a little. The tour was closed so we
just shopped a little and took the ferry back to Hamilton. The bus ride between St George and Hamilton was about 45
minutes without traffic. You can buy an all day bus pass for $10, which is good for unlimited use of the buses and ferries.
A 3 day pass cost $21.

NCL offered plenty of shore excursions. Unfortunately, due to frequent rain, some of the ocean-related ones had to be
cancelled. We did manage to squeeze in a Sea Kayaking tour. They take you out by a motor boat, while pulling a string of
sea kayaks. You are taken to a small, secluded island and everyone gets a short briefing and we started the tour. Each
kayak held two people and was quite stable. You do not need to be experienced or athletic. They provided each person
with a life preserver. That was a fun tour.

We tried to stay active to burn off all the calories that we were consuming on the ship. So the Sports Afloat program came
in handy. The coordinator had all sorts of daily activities, from walking around the deck, aerobics, kick boxing, abdominal,
stretching, and many more. There was also a small gym with treadmills, stair-master, and bikes.

We found the ship to be in excellent shape. It was very clean and we saw staff constantly cleaning and polishing. There
was never any litter to be found any where. We found the staff to be very courteous, helpful, and friendly. The majority of
them were from the Phillipines.

The first night of the trip back to Boston was a bit rough. But our cabin, being in the middle of the ship, was a bit better
than the folks who were on either end (based on their description). Also, our friends who had a room near the aft
complained that the engine noise was very high and they felt a lot of the vibration. So we were pretty lucky that our room
was in the middle.

All in all it was a very nice trip, especially compared to our experience on the Carnival Tropicale. We would recommend
this ship and the staff highly. But keep in mind the food is not the greatest, but there was plenty!

Here is a link to a site where we keep our pictures of this cruise. Hope you will enjoy them. Happy cruising!
