This was our second cruise, the first being on Carnival's Fantasy
to the Bahamas last year for 4 nights/3 days. It was only natural
to compare the two
ships and we found some things on each ship better than the
other. The Royal Majesty was much smaller and lacked some of the
deck space that the
larger ships have now. This was especially true when it came to
trying to find a place near the one pool on board . It was
impossible to sun next to the
pool because the space was taken up by the tables used to eat at
from the buffet area. You had to go to the aft section or up a
deck and then there was
a shortage of recliners and towels. This is going to be curred
after the ship is lengthen this winter and they will be adding an
additional pool. Our room
was much smaller than on the Fantasy with the shower being a bit
tight however this was not a major problem. Overall the room was
very nice ( we were
on Deck 7, no window ). One thing we learned on this trip wasnext
time we get a cabin with no window is to bring a night lite as it
is very dark!
Embarkation was fast and because of the size of the ship finding
your way around was a snap. There was only one dining room so it
sometimes became a
bit crowded if you were early for your seating, again this had to
do more with space in the passage ways. We found that you needed
to go through the
Casino to get to some places and this was somewhat questionable
especially when someone had children with them. The kids tended
to stop and look or
even attempt to play with the slot machines. On the Fantasy this
was unheard of and the Casino was a separate area to enter and
exit.
Docking at St. George was a great benefit as compared to Hamilton
or Dockyards. We found the area much more convienent to getting
around the island
and you could walk to Tobbacco Beach and St. Catherines. Coming
back we encountered some rough seas on late Friday evening and
into early
Saturday and there seemed to be many feeling seasick. Shows on
the ship were excellent given the size of the stage and the
cruise director, TOO Tall
Tony Fletcher was a riot. He was leaving the ship after this
cruise to go on to another NCL ship in Alaska. Lastly I want to
say that the the Maitre d', Mr.
Luis Leite was magnificent in taking care of us. He showed us how
much he cared about our seating arrangements, where to go on the
island and gave
us a feeling that we were special. He will be back with the ship
next year after drydock and anyone traveling on the Majesty
should be in good hands.
