A cruise is a great way to see different places and eat different foods, both of which we enjoyed on the
Norwegian Dream. Nine of us set sail on March 12 for the ports of Aruba, Curacao, Tortola, and St. Thomas.
We all had a great time and will cruise again. We felt NCL did a good job for the price. I was skeptical about
cruising this ship after reading the opinions of others, but realized most people talk about their bad
experiences and not the good ones so here is a positive one!

The rooms were bigger than expected and clean. There wasn’t a refrigerator, which would have been nice
(the suite had one). The cabin stewards did an excellent job cleaning the rooms, bringing fresh towels,
keeping the ice bucket refreshed, etc. There was no fancy towel displays but we didn’t miss it.

We ate at the breakfast buffet almost every day. The last 2 days of the trip they cut down on the variety of
foods and we didn’t think this was right, we paid for a full selection. We found out while waiting to leave the
ship breakfast is served in the sports bar and pizzeria. NCL did not advertise this well and it would have been
nice to know as the buffet closes and 9:30 and we often rushed to get there (probably our fault for not reading
the cruise news).

We ate in the dining room during the evenings. If you were going to go out during the day, I’d definitely
recommend the late seating for dinner. We thought the food was good and displayed nicely. Our favorites
were: Shrimp Kabobs, Asparagus Mousse, and Tropical Fruit Gazpacho. The waiter did a good job explaining
the menu and made excellent recommendations. The waiters performed a few skits during dinner and they
were fun, I think only because our waiter was a character! One thing NCL could upgrade is their sound system
in the dining room. Another tidbit, don’t fret about formal night; there were tuxedos next to plain shirts with ties.

Between the 9 of us we sampled a lot of drinks on board and thought the drinks were prices fairly as the tip is
included. The drinks were quite strong too. Not once did a bartender measure the liquor by shot glass. The
poolside waiters could have been around more after 4 p.m.

The islands were visited were Aruba, Curacao, Tortola, and St. Thomas. We did not participate in any of the
ship’s shore excursions, however I think some may be a good bargain. A couple we met took the Jeep tour in
Aruba and had a blast. In Tortola we took a private service to Virgin Gorda and it would have been $7
cheaper by booking on the boat.

On Tuesday we arrived in Aruba where we rented a taxi on our own and went to the rock formations and the
natural bridge. The taxi driver was very friendly (ask for Feena) and gave us some history as we drove
around. She dropped us at the Hyatt after our tour and we spent the afternoon on the beach. Carlos and
Charlie’s is by the ship and a great place for happy hour. We ate dinner on the ship and went back, very
young crowd, very bar.

Wednesday was Curacao and we were not impressed. The city is very dirty and smells like an oil refinery. We
rented a taxi and the driver was horrible, didn’t speak to us or give us any history. It was also overpriced.
Feena (from Aruba) recommended Rick or Rick Jr. and we wished we’d gone with them. We went to the Hato
Caves, not worth the $6.50. They rush you in and out and put way too many groups in the caves at one time.
They also lock the gate, thus there is no way out until the group has gone all the way through. It’s also very
warm inside the caves. The city is very dirty and prices somewhat high. Others we talked too went snorkeling
here and saw a lot of fish.

Friday was Tortola and the favorite island of the group. Some people rented a taxi for the day where they got
history of the island, visited a distillery, and Cane Garden Bay. This island is very laid back and relaxed. We
took a ferry to Virgin Gorda to the Baths. The rock formations were very cool. The beach was busy at noon
when we arrived but by 2:30 it was almost empty. We snorkeled and saw a stingray and barracuda.

The last day we arrived in St. Thomas and it was lightly raining. There is plenty of shopping here and the best
prices. Shop around before you buy. This was probably least favorite island because it is so commercialized.

A general note about the Embarkment/Disembarkment process - very smooth. We left Minneapolis at 6 a.m.
and were on the boat by 1 p.m. We were with a tour group - Trilogy and it was VERY smooth. Same with the
disembarkment process, one must be patient and not hung over! Overall we were very satisfied with the
itinerary and the ship, we’d cruise NCL again.

This was our first cruise and our honeymoon. We are both 30 years old and about 30 years younger than the
average age on this 2 week trek through Scandinavia. We thought it was wonderful. We enjoyed being one of
7 honeymooners rather than one of 50 or 100 in the Caribbean. I will start with negatives or things below our
expectations. First, we were given a free breakfast in bed for being honeymooners, and the meal was not
edible. It was cold and noone likes cold eggs. That was unfortunate, but free, so we just got dressed and had
the buffet. The shore excursions were fine, not outstanding, but fine. I would suggest doing one morning tour,
perhaps the city highlights, then venture out on your own - going to the places you saw in the morning, but
didnt tour. This also allows you to see how far the ship is from the city center and gives you an idea of the city
layout. I think the tours of St. Petersburg were very good, and since you need a visa if not on a tour, I would
take them. I would also avoid, if possible exchanging money on the ship. Bad rates with fees. I never had
foreign currency in my pocket, just US Dollars and a credit card. Only twice did I wish I had a few coins in local
currency.

The only other negative we could think of was the air/sea package. It was again, fine, but could
have been better. I think we had the advantage of being young and mobile. Arriving at 8 in the morning in
London, when your room wont be ready for 4-5 hrs is not the best planning. Then, we arrived late to our
disembarking port 9(due to weather), so schedules had to be changed. NCL did a great job finding hotels and
flights for 1700 passengers with less than a days notice. However, the NCL staff was not that well informed of
changes (they were happening fast) and we didnt know what hotel we were assigned to but put on a bus to
the airport anyway. There a rep. called and we boarded another bus to the hotel. It was a minor
inconvenience, and perhaps more of an issue for older passengers. We were kind of happy to get an extra
day, but by the time we found our hotel it was too late to enjoy it. Some passengers complained about NCL
not paying for the meals, but I felt happy to get a room. The positive aspects of the cruise was the staff on the
Dream. Everyone was great.

Our Stewardess was always smiling and friendly. Our waiter and Busboy were
fun, as was the Maitre D'. The Cruise Director and his staff kept us active, entertained and were very nice.
We were joined for dinner by the Chief Engineer on several occasions and he was also delightful. The food
was fine to very good, not GREAT, but never poor. I read several reviews prior to leaving and was worried,
but we were happy as were the others at our table. Being a bigger eater I could have used more than one
entree' at times, but was sure of this policy. I did get it once and my waiter went to the trouble of getting it for
me. But if you need more food on a cruise there is something wrong, because it is ALWAYS available. We
enjoyed the activities...trivia, ping pong, shuffleboard, scavenger hunts, etc. Great way to meet people and
happy fun. The shows were fine too, but we didnt take full advantage of them...afterall, it was our honeymoon
and the mornings came early. We are looking forward to our next cruise and would not think twice about it
being with NCL. The Dream is a wonderful ship and I would recommend the obstructed view rooms - Higher
up, above the main deck and we had a window with a view for less than many others...

My wife and I wanted to visit Europe and found the Scandinavian Capitals cruise to be the one cruise where
you could visit at least six European capital cities without unpacking and repacking your suitcases at each
stop. We selected Norwegian Cruise Line because (1) we had previously sailed on the same the ship the
Norwegian Dreamward before it was stretched (lengthen by 100 plus feet) and renamed as the Norwegian
Dream three years ago, and (2) Grand Circle Travel (GCT) was providing the entire cruise and land
package including extra days in London and Paris. The 10-hour non-stop flight from Los Angeles (LAX) to
London was pleasant aboard a United Airlines Boeing 777 with TV screens in the back of each seat, three
separate meals, and free drinks. We left LAX at 4:30 PM Tuesday and arrived at London at 7:30 AM the
next day. After a city tour of London from the airport, our room was ready at the London Tower Thistle Hotel
and our bags were waiting for us in our room. The hotel location was very nice – on the east end of London,
on the Thames River, next to the London Tower. After lunch, we rode the standard red two-decked tour bus
for a city tour that allowed us unlimited getting on and off for the day and an optional free Thames River
boat ride from downtown London to our hotel.

The second day, GCT provided another city tour – each of
the three city tours showed us different sites and in the afternoon, we visited the London Tower, which was
located across the street from our hotel on our own – a half day wasn’t enough time. Be sure to use the
hotel personnel whenever purchasing tickets to see any events – they have the lowest prices and the best
times, seats, etc. On the third day on the way to the ship, we had another approximately a half-day
sightseeing trip. Our cabin was on the same floor as before – the Atlantic Deck, cabin 6034 – good sized
with a large picture window, queen-size bed, two bed end tables, a chair, a couch, a small coffee-sized table,
an ottoman (foot rest), a telephone, and a television set. The shipboard telephone service was poor due to
the delay and echo using their satellite service and the TV service was OK with one movie channel, a CNN
channel, another news channel, etc. The closets were adequate as was the bathroom with shower. The
cabin steward was excellent as he quickly learned that we are early to bed and early raisers. We selected a
table of six and the early meal seating.

The meals were acceptable but nothing to write home about. Our
waiter was slow and often we were nearly the last ones to finish our meals. I believe that the service was
slow because our waiter was gay and the other waiters were picking on him behind the scenes, i.e., when
placing and picking up our orders, etc. We didn’t go to any of the evening shipboard shows as we were too
tried from our often 12-hour days touring the capital cities of the Baltic Sea region plus the frequent time
zone changes. The newest feature aboard the ship was the Internet Café where you can access the Internet
to send and relieve your e-mail, surf the net, etc. This allows us to send the photographs that we had taken
earlier that day to our family and friends back home in the States. We took six land tours at Berlin, St,
Petersburg, Helsinki, Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Oslo. After leaving Dover, the ship sailed through a very
long German canal with a very scenic countryside and this canal saved a day’s traveling time by not sailing
around Denmark to reach Germany’s coast. The shipboard personnel told us to always exchange our
dollars into the visiting country’s currency before we went to ashore. Don’t bother doing this as every
country we visited readily accepted the Yankee dollar. Plus the ship charges a high service fee ($3.50)
every time you change money. After visiting Scandinavian Capitals, we landed at Dover again, and took
another half-day ride, stopping to visit another English Castle before boarding the Chunnel train (under the
English Channel) to Paris. Our hotel in Paris was the Hotel Concorde La Fayette located downtown and
looking out from our 10th floor room window, we could easily see the Eiffel Tower and the Arc of Triumph.
The land tours were to the Notre-Dame Cathedral, Chateau de Vincennes, and the home of the famous
French artist Monet. Our trip to the Charles de Gaulle airport was on time, but United Airlines was not - we
had a three-hour wait. The flight was smooth from Paris flying over London, Iceland, the southern tip of
Greenland, down through Canada, and entering the States over Montana. It was a wonderful
once-in-a-lifetime trip and we are ready to go again.

I had a very good experience on Dream for my first cruise. My objective for this trip was to visit the
Scandinavian countries without the hassle of packing and unpacking. Seeing Berlin and St Petersburg
were a bonus.

I was fortunate enough to find a deal that put me in a suite. This allowed us priority boarding and a larger
more comfortable room for 12 days. Several times during the cruise hors douerves were delivered to our
room before dinner.

The staff were amazingly energetic for the demanding schedules they work. The entertainment was
generally good.

Being a golfer it was great to have a driving cage where you could swing a club every day. I only wish
they did not put the clubs away at 6pm.

Our waiter was great and tried hard to please unfortunately he was stuck with a lazy busboy. One sore
point was dinner. I am not an adventerous eater and because I would not order something for each
course this typically left my traveling companion and me sitting (we had a table for two) waiting for our
entrees. My frustration was compunded by the lack of dining options at dinner as I was also not interested
in the formal nights.

The Bistro was a great alternative to dining in the main dining rooms and the food was great. Although it
is a slow relaxed service you are not forced to stay on schedule with the rest of the diners.

We took the Berlin tour and St Petersburg tours with the cruise line because we were not as confident
about navigating those countries on our own. The tours gave you a good feel for the history of the cities.
The guides were excellent.

We found our own tours in Helsinki, Stockholm, Copenhagen and Oslo. These tours were the same
offerings as the ships tours and were about one third the cost.

Overall: Let me put it this way, I am going on another cruise on the Dream this winter.

The food was the pits. Maybe I have been spoiled from other cruises, but this one ... we longed to get
ashore and have a lovely lunch. Too much Americanized fare and not enough of the ethnic variations
from the ports we were traveling to. Late night buffets (rather small) were a re-hash of what we had
earlier, only more stale. We were lucky enough to have a veranda in our stateroom, as many were
looking for a quiet place to read next to the railing of the ship. Hours for the ice cream and pizza were
always just too crammed together to enjoy something when returning from the shore excursions.
Excursions needed more variety, but were interesting and mostly worth the money.

Very nice service from the restaurant waiters and stewards but did not make up for the poor selection
of food. Even the hamburgers were on huge dry buns, and hard to eat. Room service was usually very
cold and dried out. We opted to eat breakfast in our rooms every morning as breakfast quit serving at
9am. The breakfast buffet was great and probably the best meal of the day. Out of 12 dinner meals,
only 4 were tasty. Chilled soups were excellent at every meal. Desserts of the gelatinized variety were
awful and I didn't gain a pound on this cruise. Maitre'D specials were good.

Casino was one of the worst. I must have played at least 2-3 hours on the video poker and slots each
night, and never hit a 4 of a kind except for the first night and the last two nights. The best evenings
entertainment was the Liar's Club. It was a last minute preparation from the entertainment people and
it was GREAT!. Elvy Rose was hilarious as the spanish maid and really made her absurd answers
sound real!

Excursions were very good, only alot of walking and many cobblestones. My mom was in a wheelchair
part of the time and she could not book many of the tours. Many ruins and once you've seen a couple,
you really aren't anxious to see that many more. The weather got rough in the Ukraine, but the trip
was very comfortable. The boat was redone recently and made the stabalizers much better. Didn't
care much for Athens as alot of gang graffiti on everything. Was surprised at Turkey being so much
greener and enjoyed all of Istanbul. Ukraine was wonderful and the band welcoming us to both Yalta
and Odessa was terrific. They played their hearts out in the wind and rain on departing Yalta.

On the whole, enjoyed the countries visited and the stateroom, but the food was horrible most of the
time. Food in the cities was terrific and made up for the difference. Would go again to Turkey but not
on NCL Dream.

This was the third cruise I had the opportunity to take. Others being Royal Carribean and Princess. We
were able to get a great fare on Norwegian and went with friends we met on the Princess cruise. While
we had a nice time, I will not travel again on a Norwegian cruise ship.

The Food: The food reminded us of Denny's. We never once finished an entire meal, nor asked for
seconds. The dining room was not as clean as the other cruise ships. Our tablecloth had food stains on
it two nights, and glassware had to be sent back for being dirty. The morning orange juice was similar to
tang--it was not made from real fruit juice or concentrate (and we went to Florida!). The other cruise
experiences I had offered food I raved to friends and family about afterward. The group of people we
interacted with (about 30) all seemed to comment on either the inferior food quality or the demise of the
food if they had traveled on NCL before they were purchased by Star cruise lines.

The Service: After the first night, the staff on Royal Carribean and Princess remembered our names and
were amazingly attentive. The dining room staff on NCL didn't remember our names or our dining
preferences. They seemed to lack a caring attitude. This extended from our busperson to the maitre 'd.

A Food Exception: We dined one night in the Bistro, a more private dining room which each guest pays
an additional fee to attend. The Filet Mignon was among the best I have had, and the service was easily
on par with Princess cruise we took prior. A very nice dining experience.

The Shows: We attended each of the shows and enjoyed each. We were fortunate to have an especially
talented comedian, and the performers put on a entertaining and sophisticated performance which was
a lot of fun.

The Ship: The layout of the Dream is slightly awkward. To get from one side of the ship to the other on
deck 9, passengers had to go through the dining room. Having guests in tank tops and shorts traveling
through the dining room during formal night hindered an already challenging evening for the ship. The
disco and the main theater also were designed so that guests had to walk through them to go from one
portion of the ship to another. The grand atriums of the Royal Carribean and Princess ships were
missed on this NCL ship which did not have an atrium of any type.

OVERALL: The Dream is a nice ship, which seems to have been neglected. The majority of the crew
had a very low moral which one could sense. The negative feeling was especially strong in the dining
areas. The food was really disappointing. We had a wonderful time with our friends, and enjoyed
meeting new people. It is sad that some people will think that all cruise ships are as bland as this NCL
ship was. If you are considering a NCL cruise, you may want to ascertain whether others are
experiencing the same quality food and moral as this ship had.
