I followed the cruise reviews of this ship and did not have great expectations. After
sailing on the Dreamward, I am wondering if others are talking
about the same ship. This is a beautiful ship. It is very tastefully decorated in soft
colors and interesting artwork. The use of windows is exceptional.
The size of the dining rooms is much nicer than the huge banquet halls on other ships. It
is also nice that dinner is the only assigned seating. This
gave us a chance to try all the dining rooms. Food in the Sports bar is limited but
adequate (go to the other dining rooms if you don't like it). Nobody
on the ship looked like they were starving to death. The cabins were the nicest I have
ever been in. They are a nice size and well decorated. The
ship was going in to be stretched so I expected it to be a little run down but crew were
seen at all hours cleaning, painting, etc. The food was good
as was the entertainment. We ran into a tropical storm (that kept most of the passengers
in their cabins on the night of the captains party) and were
re-routed a couple of times. The captain did his best to keep passengers informed and we
saw it as an adventure. Our waiter, Adrian, was
exceptional. We enjoyed his humor, magic tricks, menu tips, and stories of the sea. Our
busboy, wine steward, and cabin steward were equally good.
All of the staff were friendly and accomodating. We did not go to Grand Caymen due to the
storm and anchored at Playa Del Carmen instead. We
also missed the private island and went to Key West in its place. Too bad because these
were the two stops on the cruise we had NOT ever been to
but that just means we have to go again. All in all we enjoyed this ship very very much. I
will never understand those who complain about the food
and a few carpet stains. This is a mid-range cruiseline and the prices reflect that. I
heard one woman complain that she hadn't seen a lobster YET
(this on the 3rd day of the cruise). If that's what is important to her she should dig
deep into her pockets and sail on Seabourne or Radisson Seven
Seas. This is not a ship for the young adult party croud looking for tacky neon and glitz.
This ship is tasteful.
