After reading other reviews only days before our cruise, we expected the worse. We are
happy to report that we were pleasantly surprised. We did not
encounter any air conditioning or plumbing problems. The maintenance workers are
constantly maintaining the ship, however we were not disturbed at night by
any noises from them. We also had no problem with our second key working.
Our trip to Calica was cancelled due to high winds and waves, so we arrived at Cozumel
about 12 hours early, which was fine with us. Some of the people who
had tours booked at Calica were disappointed, but the Shore Excursion Staff quickly put
together an alternative tour to try to soften the blow. Cozumel is a clean,
fun, city and the people are friendly and not pushy at all, as they are on some of the
islands in the Caribbean.
We were disappointed in Roatan; in fact, we can't imagine why a cruise ship would stop
there. The people on the island are very poor. Many of them live on
houses that are up on sticks, and we couldn't see any water/sewerage systems. We were told
about how beautiful the snorkeling/diving is around the island, but
we wouldn't want to get into the water simply because after a good rain, the island washes
into the sea, and what comes with it is something we don't want to
think about.
Our cabin stewardess (Jovel) was absolutely the greatest! If you are taking the cruise, I
hope you get her. I don't know where she was hiding, but every time we
left our cabin, it was straightened up with fresh linens when we got back. The rest of the
staff on the ship was friendly and efficient as well, and we never wanted
for anything.
The food in the dining room was very good, and we liked the quality and variety at the
luncheon buffets.
Our only complaint was the transportation from the ship to the airport. The people in
charge of the busses and luggage seemed confused, taking luggage off the
bus, putting it back on the bus, taking people off the bus, putting them back on the bus.
Then once we got started, our bus driver, who was friendly and quite
personable, took a wrong turn which concerned us all immediately. NCL should do something
to improve this situation, because once we disembarked, the party
was definitely over! We would suggest arranging your own transportation if this situation
does not improve. There were a few taxis and limos waiting where the
busses were located for your convenience.
For the most part, it was an enjoyable and relaxing voyage.
