I went on this ship on its sailing of March 21 from San
Juan-Aruba-Caracas-Grenada-Dominica-St.Thomas-San Juan. We
tendered in Grenada, and were dockside everywhere else. We had a mini-suite, which was
quite suitable for my family of
three. We were also accompanied by my wife's family. Before the cruise, we had requested a
table together. When at the
beginnning of the cruise, we found we were at different tables, the Maitre D found us a
table together. There were 2,050
passengers aboard for this cruise, and the space ration was quite acceptable. There were
no long lines at the buffet and
I could always find a space at the lounge near the pool. The dining room food was quite
good with a pleasing variety.
One night the dining room served a rack of lamb that was tender and succulent. The duck
was good as well. The dining
room fell down on the beef wellington, however, which was dry. That one experience did not
detract from the overall
quality of the dining room. Buffets were varied and plentiful, with interesting salads and
a carvery for lunch. The teen
coordinator was enthusiastic about her job and cared about the teens in her charge.
The destinations were interesting, particularly Caracas. Dominica has an interesting rain
forest. We snorkeled in St.
Thomas. The bar entertainment was good and the games the cruise staff devised were fun.
Some negatives--the tender to Dominica was inefficient. The nightly theatre entertainment
was not up the quality of my
past cruise. The ship's officers did not mingle with the passengers as they did on my
previous cruise.
