This was our 4th cruise and our first Princess cruise. We have been on Royal Caribbean once and Norwegian Cruiseline twice. It was by far the
easiest embarkation and disembarkation that we have ever had. From the time we arrived at the airport in San Juan, was then transported to the
ship, checked in at the ship and was in our cabin was less than 45 minutes. When we left the ship we were off by 8:20 A.M. retrieved our luggage
and arrived at the airport before 9:00 A.M. The Dawn is a gorgeous ship. She is very tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The crew is friendly
and helpful. You would never know that there were 2050 passengers and 900 crew aboard. We never felt crowded, never had a problem getting a
seat for any of the shows or demonstrations. The only time we had to wait in line was going on a tour in Grenada and there were 376 people going
on tours and they were getting us to the tender. We had an outside cabin without a balcony and the room size was good. Princess adds a nice
touch to all cabins: terry cloth bathrobes, a bowl of fresh fruit every day, big towels for the pool, a refrigerator with ice, and a safe with a digital
combination that you set the code when you first enter the room. The food was excellent and plentiful. Each night there was either a pasta dish or
dessert prepared in front of us by the Head waiter and then it was served to you. The assortment of entrees was good. Our waiter Sergio and his
assistant Jose could not do enough to please us. The only problem was they do not know what the word No means, they kept saying, Just try a little.
It is amazing how hard these people works and still remain pleasant. The dining room is divided into sections so that you do not feel you are in a
hugh room with 500 other people. Our section held 9 tables. It is semi-divided by etched glass petitions so that you can still see everything that is
going on in the dining room with a feeling of being separate. The lights in ceiling twinkle on and off so you get the feeling of being under the stars.
The dining room is very pretty with windows surrounding the room so you always have a view of the outside. They do have a pizzeria that is open till
about 2:00 A.M. with fresh pizzas and calzones prepared for you. There is a 24 hour restautant on the Horizon deck that serves a full meal from the
menu from 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., otherwise they have a buffet during the day and evening. The only area that Princess could improve in is the
entertainment. It was good but nothing exciting. We have been on both Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruiselines where the entertainment is
outstanding with beautiful scenary and costumes and always had a name headliner. On Princess, the big show Odysea was a little disappointing. It
was built up quite a bit and was not what we expected. One nice thing about Princess is at both the pool area and in the lounges, the waiters do not
hound you to order drinks. They are there if you want to order a drink but will not constantly bug you about this. The other area is the ships
photographers are not always in your face either, which was a nice change. Certain tours do fill up early so if you plan to go on one, choose them
from the brochure Princess sends you with your package and sign up on the first day if you can. We toured Aruba, Grenada and shopped in St.
Thomas. We did not leave the ship in Venezuala but crossed the street to the straw market in Domenica. Overall this was a wonderful trip, I would
highly recommend the Dawn Princess.
