This was my 6th cruise and the largest ship I have sailed on to date. Amazingly, even with the large number of passengers on board, Princess has done
a supurb job of giving you the feel of a 'small ship'. The only reason you know you are sailing on a 77,000 tonner, is because you never seem to run into
the same people. Unfortunately you also notice it in port when you have a late arrival and everyone is trying to get off the ship at the same time, but that
can even occur on the smaller ships. I think the size of the ship can be troublesome for those with mobility problems, since it is almost 1/6th of a mile from
bow to stern. Movement between decks is easy though, due to an abundance of elevators. I was also a little shocked to see how much the ship moved
around in calm seas. I figured that on a ship that size I would completely lose the feeling of being at sea. For the most part, the service was fantastic. The
dining room staff was supurb, even anticipating my needs on occasion. The same can be said for the bar staff, never an empty glass. Unfortunately, I did
get stuck with a grumpy room steward who acted like you were invading his privacy if you wandered back to your cabin to fetch something during his
cleaning time. No need to snap at the paying customers. Princess does a good job getting you from home to the ship, but be aware! There is a 3 hour
bus ride between Anchorage and Seward. I would never take this cruise and not use the Princess travel arrangements. The ports of call varied quite a
bit, and I was glad I was travelling North to South and visited Skagway first. I would have been terribly disappointed if it was my last port. Definitely a
tourist trap. Juneau and Ketchikan are thoroughly charming! The excursions offered in all the ports were wonderful (at least the ones the members of my
party participated in) Kayaking in Ketchikan was just fantastic!!!!! As always, the Princess line prides itself on cleanliness. Dawn Princess was no
exception. Don't miss Glacier Bay. Find a deck chair (port side), a pair of binoculars and a blanket, if you can the deck steward, curl up and watch the
amazing scenery. Overall this was a wonderful cruise, save me a cabin Princess, I'll be back soon.
