This was our fifth cruise with Princess. We have enjoyed all of them, but this was a
little better than the rest. We stayed at
the Wyndam Old San Juan Hotel for two days prior to the cruise and had a great time. Food,
beverage service, casino and
accomodations were first class. The hotel was recently renovated and is located on the
waterfront approx 50 yards from
the spot the ship is docked. This made boarding a breeze. The hotel bellman picked up our
luggage that morning and
delivered it to the ship. We had to walk across the street and we were boarded. It took
about ten minutes to sign in and
find our room. The ship did not leave until 11:00 that night so we had another full day to
spend in Old San Juan. I have
mixed feelings on the ports we visited. Aruba, Grenada and St. Thomas were excellent. Lots
of things to see and do and
the people made you feel welcome. The two other ports (Dominica and La Guaira) were a
waste of time and in my
opinion should be elminated from the itinerary. There are so many beautiful places to
visit in the Southern Caribbean, it
is a shame to waste two days of your vacation in places that offer nothing or make you
feel very uncomfortable while you
are there. Police carrying machine guns and wearing bulletproof vests was a common sight
in Venezuela. Now back to
the ship. Other than a little room noise early in the mornings, I have no complaints at
all. Our cabin steward was very
friendly and most helpful. Our room was always clean, supplies restocked and any special
requests were immediately
taken care of. Service in the dining room was very professional and exact. The waiters and
the busboys not only got the
job done, they did it with a smile on their face. They knew when to joke with us and make
us feel like we were the only
group in the room. The food preparation and selection were always excellent. If you did
not like what you ordered, it was
quickly replaced with another dish We enjoyed the breakfast and lunch buffets very much.
Always a fantastic selection. The
Pizza was a big hit. The Bistro was a welcome change a couple of nights. They served a
full dinner menu until 4:00 A.M.
We did this one night in place of the main dining room. We found that we could enjoy the
show and eat a late dinner in a
beautiful setting overlooking the sea. We enjoy our vacations and Princess seems to always
fill our needs. This year for
the first time we traveled with two other couples. They are already starting to make plans
to return next year. I would
recommend this trip to anyone. .
