This was a first cruise for my husband and he had many expectations, most of which were fulfilled positively. We used the Princess airfare and
arrived in San Juan late morning. We were greeted by staff and escorted directly to the ship and allowed to board. Total check in took about 15min,
with no lines and all paperwork prepared ahead of time. We had time in San Juan and then ship left port late at about 1am. Sunday was at-sea,
which was very nice to be able to learn the ship, although I would have liked an at-sea day later in the cruise to relax after running around at all the
ports. My husband and I both had massages on Sunday which was nice, I did not like that the staff asked you to sign for a 15% tip without really
explaining what you were initialing. In the hair salon I was sold a barrette for $35, it was in my hair with no mention of price until I paid the bill. By
that time it is pretty difficult to remove it and complain. We had dinner every night in the Florentine dining room at a table for 6 with 2 other couples. It
was very enjoyable to meet some other people and the service was excellent from our waiter, Augustinio. He and our assistant waiter knew what
each person was drinking and always had it available. He never pushed extra food on us and we were allowed as much as we wanted, including
multiple appetizers and desserts. I enjoyed Aruba, where we took a taxi tour and then took an intro dive tour. Caracas can be removed from the
itinerary, we just spent another day on board. It is a 45 min drive into Caracas and I heard there was not much to see once you got there. We took a
Princess excursion on Dominica, which was very rushed. All of the shows were excellent, the comedians were funny although they seemed to share
some of their jokes. The disco always seemed to be empty and the casino took $20 the first night and we didn't try again. We had an inside cabin,
which gets very dark, but it was also a handicapped cabin so it was about twice the size of other cabins. Disembarkation went very smoothly, we
were the first group off and had no troubles getting through customs and to our flight. We flew American and actually ended up in business class
from Chicago to San Francisco. I would recommend this ship and we will be cruising with Princess again.
