I found the embarkation to be the smoothest ever on any ship I
have sailed. Very fast and efficient. Overall the staff seemed
very friendly, and
eager to please. I enjoyed the dinners in the restaurant, as the
waiters were excellent! The food itself was actually better than
I had expected,
although not as good as other ships Ive sailed on. The
ports of call in Europe were very beautiful. The shops onboard
were very nice, and I
especially liked the fact that you could buy duty-free liquor at
discounted prices for in-room consumption. (Although they should
sell corkscrews
in the shop- Having the cabin steward open every bottle of wine
was a real hassle)
On the downside, although the ship is the biggest and most
expensive (for now), it lacks something. There really isnt
anything that is a
'standout'. The design is a bit odd, such as- if your in mid-ship
cabins, there is no stairwell to use. Also, the saunas and steam
rooms are outside
by the pool, with absolutely no privacy. The Botticelli
restaurant is located in an area that is very hard to get to.
The shore excursions were pricey, and the lunches provided were
bland and cafeteria like. The shuttles cost $4 per person each
way in some
ports, whereas on your own you can do much better. I.e. shuttle
to Athens subway station, then on your own was $4 each way. A
taxi all the
way to the Acropolis was $5 per ride. (2 people in cab) The
cruise line tends to nickel and dime their passengers.
Overall the experience was a good one, but I dont think I
personally will book another cruise on her.
