This cruise was a last minute offering by one of the agencies
that we have used in the past. The offer included 2 nights in
Venice at the Regina Europa
Hotel. This was a great start to our cruise. The Pacific Princess
is the smallest ship on which we have cruised, but there were no
obvious disadvantages.
The cabins are small and somewhat utilitarian, but are kept
spotlessly clean, as is the entire ship. Food in the dining room
is very good with an excellent
variety. After the marvellous breads in Venice, we were a little
disappointed with the baked items. The lido buffet , in our
opinion, attempts too much with a
very limited facility. Foods are brought up in an elevator from
the main galley, and seemed often to suffer in the process. The
internatonal lunch buffet was
very good, items being served by crew members from their
respective countries. Service on board was exceptional. We have
sailed twice on Crystal
Cruises and, as far as we are concerned, Princess surpassed them.
This was a very busy cruise, with long days in port. We spent
over $1,000 on shore
excursions, and did not take one in every port. However, since we
were in Egypt 10 days after the tragedy at Luxor, we felt much
more at ease using the
planned trips rather than venturing out on our own. Overall we
were very pleased with Princess and will sail again with this
line.
