This was a "trip of a lifetime" for all of us - my sister &
brother-in-law,cousins, neice & friend, friends from NYC and
of course,my husband and myself. We had been "bumped" by Princess Cruise Lines
from a 10 9 day Hawaiian
cruise which they had overbooked to this 19 day cruise which took us from San Juan - 6
days across the Atlantic to
Madiera, Gibraltar, Cannes, Florence, Rome, Istanbul, Kusadasi & Athens. I had been on
many other shiplines
before, but this was my first on Princess. I can hardly say enough good things about the
Royal Princess. It is a
wonderful ship. It rode so smoothly - for the most part, you hardly knew you were sailing.
The cabins were nice size,
very clean and to my husband's delight had a bathtub. We even had a small refrig. Fresh
fruit was brought to the
cabin everyday.
We had a wonderful waiter and busboy, who did everything they possibly could, to please.
The head waiter was also
great - made special, delicious dishes for us. The food was very good & there was a
very good variety - basically
Italian. We loved the fact that there were so many swimming pools - one could always find
a place in the sun near
one.
We also were very pleased to have a self laundry - it was so important on a long cruise.
Another thing we liked was
that there was a movie theater so that we didn't have to sit in the cabin to see a movie.
We enjoyed all the ports, but for the most part I do not recommend taking the tours - we
did much better when we
went on our own. The tour desk is the one complaint most people had. I have also had much
better entertainment
on other cruise lines.
All in all, it was a wonderful cruise.
