First cruise on Sun. 2 prior Princess Cruises on Regal to Alaska. This was our best cruise
yet even tho the itinerary left a great deal to be desired. We
enjoyed the cruise--don't get me wrong but I wouldn't travel back to any of the ports of
call for a week stay. Princess Cay, the private island, was a joy!!
Excellent facilities, great food and a wonderful day in the sun. Dun's River Falls is a
don't miss in Jamaica--do your gold shopping at the taj mahal mall. Our
waiters in the Marquis Dining Room gave us even better advice than the shore excursion
person. Don't pay more than $10 gram for gold chains--don't
wait for Grand Cayman or Cozumel for gold, pearls or anything but silver--negot hard but
don't pay too much. Grand Cayman was a beautiful island. VERY
expensive. Cozumel was the typical tourist trap and lots of fun to shop. Carlos and
Charlies was a disappointment--better food at Hard Rock.
The ship was glorious. We had a balcony stateroom on B deck--lovely--and the safe is a
nice addition.
Two disappointments--Bingo is very expensive and shouldn't be a profit maker for the
cruiseline--at best, split the pot with the passengers--Don't charge
for soft-drinks in dining room or casino--also the ice-cream shouldn't have been an addl
charge---at $2500+ per person book price, that's too pickey.
Comedian Billy Vader and the cruise director Paul make the trip==great interaction. You
can keep the 'Pirates' show and the 'Odyssea"--we prefer the
musical reviews and the las-vegas type entertainment. There should have been more variety
in the breads served both at the table in the dining room and
breakfast pastries.
Criticism is meant in a constructive vein--still a wonderful experience and price properly
negotiated a good bargain.
We booked our own air and stayed at the Hampton in Hollywood--free shuttle back and forth
to airport and pier--nice way to relax before and after the
hustle/bustle of cruise. Don't plan too late an arrival the day before--shuttle stops at
midnight.
Keep on cruising.
