This was our second trip aboard the Diamond, and even more
enjoyable than the first. The professionalism of the crew and
staff is evident from the first
day. They are very concerned about the comfort and satisfaction
of the passengers and it shows in all areas of the ship.
There was wonderful, creative variety in the food, which was
beautifully prepared and presented. Personal preferences were
catered to, some requiring
advance notice (which is only fair). When room service was used,
it was very well done and gave one the feeling of being truly
pampered.
The cabins with verandas are quite small, but are very well
appointed. In our opinion, it is preferable to have the option of
your own private balcony in
exchange for a smaller cabin.
Cleanliness abounds, and we really had no complaint at all
regarding this point.
The alternative dining room (Italian) is one of the most fun
features on the Diamond, and we highly recommend all passengers
take it in.
This is definitely not a ship for families with young children,
as there simply aren't activities to keep children occupied. In
fact, there aren't very many
interesting activities even for adults (other than attending
lectures which may or may not be of interest) and in order to
enjoy the Diamond, you need to
be able to amuse yourself much of the time. They seem to promote
the spa and work-out room a lot, but truthfully, not a large
percentage of the
passengers used them .. walking seemed to be a more popular form
of recreation.
Late evenings in 'The Club' were very enjoyable with Tony Payne
at the piano doing dance music, sing-a-longs, etc. as the mood of
the room dictated.
Very enjoyable.
For repeat cruisers, the art auctions are becoming quite boring,
but perhaps there are enough first cruisers to keep them going.
We did observe that
very few people are buying anymore.
This is truly a lovely ship for those who wish a quiet, relaxing,
pampered trip. We will certainly take another trip aboard the
'Diamond' in the future.
