The most exciting aspect of this cruise is the itinerary, which includes some of the most
beautiful islands and lagoons of
French Polynesia. The trip is clearly worth the discomfort of the long flight, but I would
consider the offered business class
upgrade to be essential. Air/sea arrangements were competently handled with no hassle to
passengers. The ship was
designed with shallow draft and limited deck space with the itinerary in mind, and it
works well, although in heavy seas it
tends to roll and pitch. Not a real problem, since distances are short and travelled
entirely at night. Days are spent in the
islands and lagoons, and snorkelling and diving are spectacular. A dolphin watch morning
excursion on a small boat was
among the most interesting and exciting things we have ever experienced. Book early, seats
are very limited. Service on
the ship is better than average but not up to the highest standards. Food is quite good,
but not memorable. Seating
arrangements in the dining room are poor, with almost no tables for two, and mostly large
tables of 6 or 8. A couple who
desire a quiet dinner together are required to be seated with a group of strangers,
although open seating enables some
choice in this regard. Cabins very comfortable, and cabin service excellent. Entertainment
almost non-existent, but that is
a plus for us. Would rather read or walk the deck. This is a memorable cruise to a most
beautiful part of the world, off the
beaten track.
