This was our first cruise, but will not be our last, to say we enjoyed it would be an understatement.
The ship was even better than I had expected, fantastic inside and out, and it looked more stylish
and modern than any others we cruised with or moored alongside. I had read many reviews about
the ship, but none prepared me for the view on entering the centrium, glass and brass everywhere.
Every part of the ship met this spotless standard. Any worries I had about a cruise holiday being
stuffy, and over formal were corrected immediately, as I noticed that 95% of passengers were normal.
The service was exceptional, and the staff very friendly, I always felt I was being treated personally.
The waiters addressed you by name, if they saw us anywhere on the ship they came over to talk. Our
assistant waiter came to find us on deck one afternoon to tell us that dolphins were swimming
alongside the bow.

The following comments are intended to provide helpful hints, information I found useful and advice I
would have liked:

Embarkation Get to the port about an hour earlier than stated, avoid the rush, book in easily, and
walk straight on the ship at 12:00. Pack any change of clothes you might want that afternoon in your
hand luggage, eg: swimming gear for that early dip, as some people did not see their luggage until
late in the afternoon.

Cabin Being a little claustrophobic I was nervous about having an inside cabin, but found the Q class
interior cabins ok, the downside was that you could not tell whether it was day or night. We were on
the upper deck 8, sharing with outside suites etc, the walkways felt wider than the ones we
experienced on lower decks (2&3), and we were right next the centrium balcony, where there was a
leather seated area. Would I pay the extra for an outside cabin next time? Only if I could afford one
on deck 7 or above. Additional items that we required: Hairdryer, clothes iron, unless you want to pay
laundry for all ironing.

Ship Considering that the ship was fully occupied, it only felt crowded on three occasions, the first
evening performance which was for both meal sittings, and the two at sea days around the main pool,
but there was always room somewhere on deck. The first night the two girls felt a little bit of motion
sickness, but nothing requiring tablets (especially as these meant no alcohol). A slight vibration could
be felt in the dining room lower level, and in the rear entertainment theatre. The dress code is not
strictly enforced at dinner on formal dress evenings, in my opinion this is a pity, if people do not wish
to dress up on these occasions then there are other areas to eat.

Entertainment We only saw the start of two shows, as my wifes concentration started slipping after
the late stiing dinners. We preferred the more active entertainment in the rear lounge. The Poolside
band was great, I'm still singing "Who let the dogs out" to myself. Bingo definitely worth a blast for the
snowball jackpot on the last day, especially as one of our party shared the $9000 jackpot. On the
Captains cocktail evening, we were not aware of where exactly to be when, and there were queues
for pictures being taken all round the ship, if you specifically want to meet or have a picture with the
Captain check where to queue. Second sitting people, don't laze around until last minute to go down
to dinner. There is a lot to do and remember the ship is now half empty. Throughout the cruise the
photographers are busy, purchase of these is optional, and the costs can add up. Late nights
entertainment in the Viking crown disco must be aimed at teenagers, on both occasions we visited
the music was ultra modern and was too loud for us. Perhaps we are getting old ? But it is well worth
a visit if only for the views across the deck, and right down the centrium If you don't think you can last
every night until midnight, then save yourself for the buffet evenings, especially the gala buffet, the
display is fabulous, viewing 11:30 - 12:30, eating 12:30 onwards. Poolside cocktails are quite
expensive, the cocktail of the day is about half price.

Excursions Book your excursions as soon as possible, some did fill up quickly. The ports and trips
have been explained in detail on other reviews, so I will be brief: Key West, we took our own Conch
train tour, which was entertaining. Grand Caymen, Stingray city, it is amazing, the stingrays are much
bigger than expected, be prepared, but not scared. Jamaica Dunns River climb, a must, yes you will
get wet, it is mostly in the shade and the water is crystal clear and cold. Cozumel, If you only take one
piece of advice from my review then let it be this: pre book your own Dolphin swim excursion, it is
fantastic, much better than the cruise excursion which is a dolphin encounter, where you get to pet
the dolphins only. We booked via Jenny Witting who can be contacted via e-mail
SPLASHCN@PRODIGY.NET.MX This is their words: 'The Dolphin Swim: (Price: $119USD per
swimmer, adult or child, as at 2-Jun-2000) This program consists of 6 swimmers, 2 dolphins and 1
instructor. It lasts one hour long and is divided into two parts. The first part being an orientation and
video where you will learn what you can and cannot do with the dolphins. The second part being the
actual swim where each swimmer will participate in activities individually with the dolphins including a
dorsal tow, foot push, hurdle jump (the dolphin, not youJ), and petting. This will last about 20
minutes. Then there will be a 10 or 15 minute “free-swim” where you and your group are alone with
the dolphins. You can pet (not hold), dive and play tag with the dolphins at this time, just be sure to
stay moving, as they love to be active! Each swimmer is required to wear a lifejacket and we provide
a mask and flippers that need to be returned after the swim.' A video is taken of the whole experience
and is available for viewing and purchase afterwards, a must. All transport from Cozumel terminal is
via taxi's, so either exit ship early and keep going through the port to beet the arranged cruise trips
gathering on the keyside, or wait until all cruise trips have departed. Note, as of June 2000 the port
terminal was a building site, wear sensible shoes. It takes 15 minutes by Taxi to Chankanaab park,
where the Dolphin encounters and swims are based. Carlos and Charlies bar on the main street is a
fun visit afterwards, if you like a wild time, drunk or near drunk people everywhere, of all ages 15 -
70.

Disembarkation This works well, although some people were complaining about the delay. Up early to
collect passports and enter US via immigration which is setup on the ship. Await disembarkation call,
which is ordered by luggage tag colours based on connections. We left the ship on first call at about
11:00.

MY REVIEW OF ROYAL CARIBBEAN'S ENCHANTMENT OF THE SEAS: VOYAGE # 157 SAILING
EASTERN CARIBBEAN (Philipsburg, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, USVI and Nassau, Bahamas) August
6-13, 2000

Our sailing was from August 6-13 2000, Eastern Caribbean and we had the time of our lives. No
other line can compare to the cruise experience of Royal Caribbean and the M/S Enchantment of
the Seas Oslo.

DAY 1

I was traveling with my Mom and Dad (48 and 53), my 14 year old sister, and my 19 year old best
friend (I am also 19). We were headed to Ft. Lauderdale International Airport from Cleveland
Hopkins. Flight was supposed to leave at 8:50 a.m. Well, we boarded a little late, had a mechanical
problem, and the weather was terrible in Lauderdale, so what was supposed to be a 2 hour and 45
min. flight ended up being almost 5 hours. We were diverted to the Ft. Myers airport and had to
take a 3 hour bus ride to the port. We arrived at the Enchantment at 4:45 p.m. and missed the
Muster Drill. There was absolutely no one in line waiting to board the ship at this time so we got
right on. At this time they were still waiting for 300 people to board because of bad weather so we
did not sailuntil around 6:30. We were just in time for the "Sail Away" party up on the Pool Deck. It
was a great atmosphere, just as I had experienced on the Majesty and Grandeur of the Seas.
Mega 4, the Calypso band that we happen to love, was playing, and the Bar Waiters were already
walking the deck with their freshly made Pina Colada's. After our nightmare of a trip to get to the
ship, it was time to get ready for dinner and that we did.

We went up to Deck 5, the Balcony (or Top Level) of the 'My Fair Lady Dining Room' and found
our table of 119. It happened to be right where we walked in, and it was tucked away in it's own little
'cove' type thing, overlooking the rest of the Dining Room. We met our tablemates, 5 people from
Milwaukee, WI and we hit it off right away. Then we met our Waiter, Quaiser from Pakistan, and out
asst. waiter, Barbara from Poland. These two are excellent. They go out of their way to please you
and make you laugh and enjoy dinner. I know this is their job, but these two went above and
beyond their jobs. We talked many times outside of the Dining Room and exchanged addresses,
etc. They were so fun when it came to Caribbean Night, dancing the 'Macarena' and on Italian
Night, singing 'O Sole O Mio.' We also met a guy named Massimo Barbiero, and if any of you are
lucky enough to have him as your head waiter, you'll have a ball. I had been e-mailing with
Massimo for a while before the cruise after a poster told me to look for him and gave me his
address. He happened to come to our table one night and we met. It was neat. He is the FUNNIEST
person on this Earth, and you will see what I am talking about if you meet him. Dinner went like this:
Sunday, August 6 Casual, Welcome Aboard theme Monday, August 7 Formal, Captain's Gala
theme Tuesday, August 8 Smart Casual, Caribbean theme Wednesday, August 9 Casual,
Captain's Favorite Thursday, August 10 Casual, Italian theme Friday, August 11 Formal, French
theme Saturday, August 12 Casual, International theme

The Food was always excellent and the wait staff made eating anytime the best part of the cruise.

Days 2 and 3, AT SEA

I believe that this is one of the only RCI itineraries that has 3 AT SEA days. Well, it is great, let me
tell you. GET UP EARLY if you want a good chair by the pool! I got out there around 9 a.m. and the
good ones were already taken! We ended up in a not-so-good spot behind the pool in a corner,
but it worked. I hear all the complaints about people saving chairs, but I don't see the big deal. It is
going to happen, and I did the same on one of the AT SEA days. I got up around 7:30 a.m., went to
the pool, got my chair ready with my beach bag, book, CD player, towel and suntan lotion, grabbed
a quick breakfast in the Windjammer, then went back to my chair to lay in the sun for the rest of the
day. Now, I do understand what you guys are saying about people who reserve them and then they
never come back. That is pretty annoying, but it's a vacation, relax. Don't let a few ignorant people
ruin your vacation--deal with people like that when you get home, LOL! Anyway, most mornings, my
friend and I opted for the Windjammer breakfast which was always very good. We liked to get
dressed in our 'pool clothes', catch breakfast, then grab our chair in time for the sun. We did this
on every AT SEA day and it worked out great. During these AT SEA days, we all relaxed by the
pool, listened to MEGA 4 (The BEST Calypso band out there) 'Who Let the Dogs Out?'and sipped
those great drinks they came around selling. There were pool games, and the Belly Flop Contest,
Mr. Sexy Legs, and the Relay Races were hilarious! There was lots of stuff going on all around the
ship, anything from Ice-Carving Demonstrations to Line-dancing classes, etc. You will never get
bored! There is a 'Sun Worshippers Lunch' in the Windjammer Cafe, Deck 9 from 12-2 p. m and
also there is Open Seating in the My Fair Lady Dining Room from 12-2 p.m. as well. In addition to
that, the Solarium Cafe is open from 11a.m. to 7p.m. and then again from 1 a.m. to 4 a.m. for pizza,
hot dogs, hamburgers and fries. All of it was very good.

PORTS, DAYS 4, 5 AND 7 (Day 6 AT SEA) On The Eastern Caribbean Itinerary, we have 3 full
days at sea. It's great! You feel so relaxed by the time you reach your first port, Philipsburg, St.
Maarten. We were there on Wednesday, August 9. I won't be much help for people looking for info
about excursions, because my family doesn't do them. We sight see and shop on our own. St.
Maarten really is very pretty, I have never seen nicer and clearer water, but there is not much to do
right around the port area. There is a straw market where you can find great deals on island
goods. It was fun and very nice to see, but we were hot and ready for the pool so we grabbed the
tender back.

The following day, DAY 5, we arrived in St. Thomas, USVI. We first took a cab ride to Magen's Bay.
This ride was about 15 minutes and it costs $4 a person each way, plus a dollar entrance fee per
person into the beach. Wow, it was truly a great place to be. We were there very early, so it was
not crowded at all and it was so clean and pretty. I would recommend going there to anyone. After
about 2 hours at the beach, our taxi-guy came back to pick us up and take us into Downtown
Charlotte Amalie to shop. There is great shopping there right along the water, along with a great
view of the ship docked. St. Thomas is a great place to go!

We arrived in Nassau, on Day 7, August 12, and were meeting a friend that works on the Majesty
of the Seas. We have been to Nassau before, but it was in Hurricane Irene, so it was nice to see
the island without 60 mph winds and rain. :) We took a horse and carriage ride around the town
and shopped. We went to the hilton to use their beach and pool, and then went to watch the
Majesty vs. the Enchantment soccer game (waiters, cabin stewards, etc.) It was a lot of fun, but
HOT HOT HOT! We then returned back to the ship just in time for dinner.

MISC. The Entertainment was very good aboard the Enchantment. I saw the Newlywed-Not so
Newlywed game, The Comedian, Battle of the Sexes and Karaoke. All of it was a lot of fun. We love
Mega 4, so whenever they were playing, we were listening! We have many of their CD's and I
recommend you go and listen to them!

THE SHIP

From the second we stepped on the Enchantment of the Seas, everything was perfectly clean and
beautiful. On our cruise, they were replacing the carpeting on the centrum steps and they were
always painting or polishing. These people work hard! We found the Boutiques of Centrum to be
very nice, but this ship does not have as many "deals" as the Majesty of the Seas did. But it was no
problem. They had good deals on rings and watches that we took advantage of and their Logo
Shop is very nice also. The Casino had a nice theme (where my parents spent most of their time)
although I could not have some fun with this this time around since they just changed the drinking
and gambling age to 21. But we had no problem finding other things to do.

The Orpheum theater along with the Carousel Lounge, Viking Crown Lounge, Schooner Bar, and
Champagne Bar were all very nice and had great service. The Solarium was neat also, but I don't
understand why RCCL insists on working on the pool/pools during regular hours (sometimes 6, 7
p.m.). We wanted to swim quite a few times in the Solarium because the main pool was closed after
dinner, and a lot of the time it was closed or being worked on.

Another part I will mention is the 'Explorer's Club and Royal Caribbean Online.' These are adjacent
to each other on Deck 8 in the Centrum part of the ship and are very nice. You can surf the web,
send a digital postcard and check and send e-mail for .50 a minute, but be careful, the mouses
stick! :) :) This part was my favorite as I could keep in touch with friends and family while looking
out at the ocean. Great View here, check it out!

Vibration--we almost switched to the Grandeur of the Seas because of hearing how bad the
vibration was on the Enchantment. We did notice the first two nights at dinner, and it was
noticeable, but I don't even remember thinking about it, feeling about it, or caring about it after the
first night. Don't worry about it, it's a ship!!

Disembarkment--SMOOTHEST ever! We were off the ship and onto the bus on our way to the
Airport at 9:00 a.m!

I think I mentioned everything I need to, but once again, if anyone has any specific questions,
please ask. I would be glad to help you. The Enchantment has a GREAT crew and you will not be
disappointed. We had a category N Interior Stateroom on the Main Deck (4). My parents in one
room and us three girls in the other (Cabin # 4525). Our cabin guy was Caesar from Nicaragua
and he was the best! Also, if you get Oscar, Rowin, or Reynaldo, you're set, they are great and
mention that three girls from Ohio are still talking about them! They will know who we are :)

Thanks for reading and sorry if I have left anything out. I wish everyone fun and safe sailings.

Positive Aspects -- This was our first RCCL cruise which we selected due to a great internet
special. The Enchantment of the Seas is a beautiful ship and the cruise was overall a very good
experience.

Negative Aspects -- Their buffet food consists primarily of the same menu as in the dining room
rather that different food selections as we have found on other cruise lines. That was a
disappointment since it limited food selection. Breakfasts in the buffet area were generally
disappointing although the breakfasts in the dining room were the best we have ever had on any
cruise -- everything was hot which is unusual. The ship was not maintained as well as others we
have been on (primarily Princess ships) and the cabin lacked a refrigerator, a hair dryer and,
believe it or not, Shampoo! They did supply that goo from a dispenser on the shower wall that they
call all purpose bath gel. On all other cruises we have been on we have been able to have an
ongoing room service order for afternoon snacks which we made through our room steward. This
service was not available on this cruise and each day was treated as a new event which required
calling room service and waiting although this was minor. The ship has only one showroom rather
than the two we have experienced on most Princess ships.

EMBARKATION This was our 5th cruise so we bought the night before hotel stay and checked into
our cabin at the hotel. We got to the ship about 12:00 noon and walked right on the ship. We must
have been one of the first to board since the staff was not even there to meet us at the gangplank.
The experience was the best we ever had, from baggage check in to our room was about 10
minutes. We were off to explore the ship with 2 other couples, one of which had never cruised
before. We had ample time to sign up for the tours and get very aquainted with the ship.

THE SHIP The Enchantment was a little worn for being only three years old. Some of the woodwork
was worn, carpets in the room and hallway had stains, and some of the chairs were in need of
repair. All in all though, the ship was beautiful.

OUR CABIN We have stayed in Category M, K, F, and D before so we tried Category C this time
and were we ever impressed. The room was very spacious with more storage that we could fill up.
Having a tub was probably the best thing about the cabin, that little bit of extra room for bathing
was great. We were toward the rear of the ship and did feel some vibration but it was soothing and
we slept very well every night. Having a spacious balcony was the best. Our cabin steward 'Hutch'
was average at best. He forgot the little things like our names, replentishing our sodas until we
asked then got them wrong, and making 'animals' and such out of clothing. He was efficient and
kept the room very clean.

DINING We used them all. The Windjammer food was average but we did not expect anything else,
but the service there was below average. There was plenty of food and filled our 'cravings' when
we needed to eat again. The My Fair Lady Dining Room was very good. The food was prepared
very well, there was a good selection, and the presentation was excellent. Our waiter, Fernando,
and his assistant, Rex, were great. Always friendly and eager to fill our every need. Our coctail
waiter 'The Booze Doctor' was great. Because of his name, we taught him the old 'The Witch
Doctor' song and he was able to sing it back to us by the end of the cruise. Room service was
better this time, delivery was closer to the requested time than in the past.

PORTS OF CALL We had been on this itinerary before so we tried different excursions. Grand
Cayman is still the best, what christal blue water, what a great place to visit. We went back to Sting
Ray City and had a great time. We went to Cozumel this time and found it very nice. Jamaica was
our least favorite, water was murky compaired to the other two ports but our excursion 'The San
San Yacht Cruise' was very good even though the water was very rough that day.

CRUISE STAFF Our Cruise Director 'Paul' was OK, not the best that we have had by far but his
staff were great. Our favorite coctail people were Ruby, who seemed to be everywhere and always
remembered our name and what we drank. Also at the pool bar, Jimmie Z, always remembered our
names and our preferences as well.

ENTERTAINMENT The Wave Review Singers and Dancers were just excellent and the production
of the shows were the best that we have ever experienced on any of our cruises. The 'Headliners'
were not the best that we have ever seen. There needs to be work in this area but I know that
there is a lot of competition with the other cruise lines for good entertainment. Maybe we were
spoiled from having seen Mary Wilson from the 'Supremes' last year.

OVERALL Cruising is still the best. The best value for the vacation dollar and what a way to be
pampered for 7 days. RCCL still knows how to do it and this will not be the last cruise that we take.

We had another wonderful cruise this year with RCI-Enchantment of the Seas. We were supposed to
go to the Eastern Caribbean, but because of Hurricane Debbie, we were re-routed to the Western
Caribbean. A lot of people were complaining about this change, but I was happy with it, as I had never
been to the Western Caribbean, and had much rather have a smooth sailing than dodging a
hurricane! The boat does have a lot of vibration, even up on the Bridge Deck, where our cabin was.
We were totally aft, with a balcony. We certainly enjoyed our balcony, and would find ourselves out
there until the wee hours. We had room-service breakfast on our balcony almost every morning. Our
room stewart was superb, stayed unobtrusive, but did his job very well. He was also very humorous.
His name was Ian from Trinidad.

We were not impressed with our dining room waiter nor assistant. He
hardly spoke any English and this made it very difficult to communicate. I had to ask for water re-fills
nightly. The food was just not worth the wait and that's why we enjoyed dining in the WindJammer after
the first 3 nights. I really couldn't tell much difference in the taste between the two, and a waiter and
asst. waiter took your order in the WindJammer, also. It was a lot faster and gave us more time at night
to enjoy the shows and casino. Yes, those slots are tight! My hubby did win $108 in the casino one
night. I won $50 but of course, put it back in. First stop, Key West, and we have been here before. Just
went shopping. Then at sea day, which we enjoyed. The Solarium is great, and they have burgers,
dogs, and pizza for snacks. We also enjoyed the whirlpools here. Next was Cozumel, Mexico which was
beautiful! We went to a private beach all day which provided lunch, Coronas and/or Margaritas, cokes,
etc. This was a great day in a beautiful beach.

On to Grand Cayman, where we did the Stingray City
thing. This was awesome! They warned us the wind was terrible and the current and advised only
strong swimmers partake in this, but I went anyway. Glad I did! The tour guide was very helpful and
watched out after us all. Yes, the stingrays are big! We got some great pictures. Last stop, Jamaica,
and we did the Dunn's River Falls. This is breathtaking! Great fun, memories, and pictures. The cruise
over on the tender was a lot of fun, too. We had great weather, thanks to the Captain's decision to go
this route until the last day which was Saturday and was an at sea day, anyway. So back to the
Solarium. I did feel a little uneasy in Jamaica, the people are aggressive, but accepted a firm No Thank
You. Did a little shopping, we walked there and back. I thought the food on the Enchantment was not
as good as it was last year on the Sovereign of the Seas. Not enough variety, broccoli and carrots
everyday! The crew was polite, and very helpful. All our shore excursions were thru RCI, and were
excellent! I didn't mind paying the extra and felt they were well worth it. The ship was clean, but again,
there is a lot of vibration. Embarkation was not as organized as in Miami. They just didn't seem to have
it together. Disembark was ok-wait, wait, and more wait. Took awhile to find our luggage-their ought to
be a better way! All in all, great vacation, and I'm sure we will cruise RCI again in the near future!
Hawaii anyone???
