This cruise was a family affair with fourteen people ranging in age from 67 to 3 years old
all meeting in Miami.
Embarkement was fairly painless; we got to the pier at 1:15 PM and after a 45-minute wait
were through the line and
escorted to our cabin.
The Grandeur is a beautiful ship; very open and filled with light. The cabin was good
sized (larger than the same class on
the Majesty of the Seas) which was helpful since both my children, ages 5 and 8, were in
the cabin with us. There was
plenty of storage space for all our things and all the luggage fit under the beds. Because
we had the two berths for the
kids, our cabin steward said he couldn't push the bottom beds together, so my husband and
I had to make due with the
twin beds. Our cabin steward did a good job, though I had to ask him to do the cool pillow
sculptures for the kids and he
only did it once.
Our dining room service was simply excellent; our waitress Vishtee was very personable and
really worked hard to be
sure everyone was happy at the table. There were always plenty of choices on the menu and
with our large table there
were many times that someone would change their mind after ordereing--this was never any
problem at all of the
waiters. After the first night, we took the kids to eat dinner at the Windjammer Cafe as
they did not like waiting for our
second seating dinner hour. However, on the few occasions when they did eat in the formal
dining room Vishtee got their
food right out to them off a special kids menu. We ate a few breakfasts in the formal
dining room--definately the better
bet if you're up in time. The food in the Windjammer is solid but not spectacular--for us
always a good choice for lunch,
and the kids never missed the 4 PM ice cream and snacks. They also took advantage of the
Cafe in the Solarium, which
served good pizza and hot dogs throughout the day and evening. We only made it to one
Midnight Buffet, a tour through
the galley--did not feel it was worth the long lines.
The Ocean Adventure Club was great. We went to the orientation on the first night, which
was geared for very small
children. The older kids (ages 8 and 9) pronounced it weird, however by the afternoon of
the second day they had signed
themselves in and after that begged to go. They earn Ocean Adventure Dollars for going and
bought some nice things at
the end of the cruise. The older kids definately get to do beter stuff, plenty of
scavenger hunts around the ship--the youth
staff is flexible about allowing an 8 year old to go up to the next level, as we did in
the case of my son. One note: my
sister has a daughter who was just shy of 3. We has called Royal Caribbean before the
cruise to see if she would be
allowed in the program and were assured as long as she was potty-trained it would be no
problem. However, once on the
ship they made it very clear they did not want kids under 3--we sent her anyway but it was
irritating to get the two
different messages.
One other thing--at the end of the cruise, there were tip envelopes laid out for the Youth
Staff, but we were given no
guidelines for how much to tip. The staff was great and we were happy to tip them, but
RCCL should address this. The
whole tipping thing in general has gotten a little out of control. The days of just
tipping your wait staff and cabin steward
are gone, and we felt somewhat uncomfortable with the process. Should you really tip the
wine steward (who was great)
when he already gets 15% of your wine bill--the talk RCCL gives on board says yes.
As far as the ports of call, we had mixed reviews. Labidee is pretty, but there are fairly
limited swimming areas. Coco Cay
has some great snorkeling, but there were no chairs to sit in by the time our group got to
the island at about 12 noon.
Both places were much better later in the afternoon after people started going back to the
ship. The lesson is to get an
early tender ticket if you want to go in the morning and get some prime beach space, or
wait until after lunch to even
bother going over. Because of the kids we did not take any shore excursions, but did a
little shopping in San Juan and St.
Thomas, definatley preferring St. Thomas.
Overall, we had a good time and our kids had a blast--we would probably sail with RCCL
again.

Six of us traveling as a group -- signed on for the 1 day pre package with RCI-- the hotel
was adequate-- food & service at
hotel left a lot to be desired. We really enjoyed the Grandeur and thought that it offered
some very nice options.. Like the
Windjammer cafe for alternative dining.. Very Nice!!! Breakfast on this ship could use
some work.. Don't like the fact that
every morning you should have been given a straw for the scrambled eggs. The solarium is
beautiful-- but..... the floors
are very slippery--very scary for a lot of people.. The dining room staff was a joy- andwe
truly appreciated the fact that by
the 2nd night- they remembered who had coffee- who had decaf etc... Am a little
disappointed that i had to remind them
about the birthday celebration for one of our companions. I know this was ordered at time
of booking-- because I was the
agent.. Overall this was a great cruise on a beautiful ship.. Captain has a wonderful
sense of humor and did everything in
his power to make this a memorable trip for all onboard.. I will offer this cruise to any
of my clients and feel very secure
about the product & onboard staff.

W O W, Back to reality.
Airline package, close connections cancelled flights going, mad rush coming back.
Recommend day prior arrival, late flight
out. Enough on that.
The cruise: absolutely FANTASTIC. We had a lower inside amidships cabin, plenty of space,
nice bathroom, lots of drawers
and closet space. Steward was Steve from Costa Rica- he was the BEST!!!!! Room was always
made up, ice 24hrs,
bathroom always clean, he must be an elf to know when we were out of the cabin. Very
friendly to our family. We'll miss
him.
Dining Room, the Great Gatsby, 2nd seating, 2nd deck was fabulous. Outstanding food,
presentation, and service by waiter
Norbert from Hungary and Allison from Scotland. We wanted to take them back home with us.
Fantastic service, advice
and recommendations were never wrong. We'd order several appetizers, main courses, and
deserts. Allison was great
with service, tips to the wife and treatment to our daughter too. Non-varied breakfast
menu, but with the variety, you
could never repeat anyway. All meals were SUPER! Headwaiter Tony from Jamaica always
greeted us entering the dining
room, great tableside preparation, a great help to us. We had a super Wine Steward from
India, name escapes me,
always giving a good recommendation in my price range!
Entertainment was good, cocktail and repeater parties were very nice, poolside band a
little repetitious but WHO CARES
when you are having a blast.
Good barman, always available, never overbearing.
Entertainment included comedian, very funny, the Mills family, juggling comedy unicycle
act etc. Great bands all around
the ship, pick the type of music from strings, piano, to disco and country, they had it.
Piano in dining room was very
enjoyable.
Ports: Labadee Haiti, San Juan, St Thomas, Coco Cay and 2 days at sea. Relaxing itinerary.
Only two days of pressure
shopping, good bargaining in Haiti.
Overall, very relaxing, entertaining, with top quality food and entertainment. Wife was
skeptical of a cruise, ready to book
the next now, different itinerary.
Royal Caribbean, You're the BEST!
I've cruised the Mediterranean on cruise ships, my first in the Caribbean. Also been on 3
Navy ships from California and
Guam doing Pacific and Indian Ocean cruises. Boy, was this a switch.
Norbert, Allison, Steve, and Tony, hope you see this. We miss you in freezing Pennsylvania
and wish you the best.

I had an excellent time on the Grandeur. I have been on a lot of vacations, but this was
definiently one of the best! I went
with my parents and my sister who is 20. We arrived in Miami on Friday and stayed at the
Wyatt Hotel. Beautiful hotel. We
then arrived on the ship at about 11:30 Saturday moring. Sunday we were on the ship all
day so it gave me a chance to
explore. The ship is absolutley gorgeous. At dinner we were seated with two other
families, both having girls around the
same age as me. That gave me a chance to make new friends. We all hung out together every
night and I met about 5
other kids my age who I hung out with. Then on Monday we went to RC private Island
Labedee, Haiti. This was my favorite
stop. It was so pretty here. We took the Amiga Island snorkeling tour, so we were able to
avoid the tenders. It was okay,
but I heard the snorking at St. Thomas was much better. I then just hung out on the beach
for the rest of the day. I could
have done without the natives hassling to buy their crafts, but I did get some neat
things. Tuesday- We went to San Juan.
It was neat to see for the first time, but I wouldn't go back. I got a lot of souveniers
here but that is about it. Wendsay- We
went to St. Thomas. It was pretty here. We shopped all day. I would have much rather hung
out at the beach. One family
who sat at our dinner table said the beaches were gorgeous. The only shopping is either
jewerly, souveniers, or liquor
stores. Thursday- Spent the day on the ship. I laid out by the pool most of the day. You
never have to search for a chair
unless you want one by the pool. Friday- Went to CoCo Cay, Bahamas, RC private Island.
This is also a pretty island, but it
rained the entire day. I still was able to walk around the whole island, but if you are
planning to do this bring your walking
shoes. I had sandals, big mistake because it is mostly coral. At night me & all the
friends I met would go just hang out on
the deck, go to the disco club, or hang out in the teen center. We played Singled Out one
night. That was fun, but the
main age at Teen Center was 13-14 year olds. Hint...the best time to feel like you are the
only people on the ship is after
1:00 a.m. I rarely spotted anyone else on the deck. Very peaceful. Me & my sister
shared an inside cabin. It was enough
for us, but I would have liked to have an outside cabin with a private deck. Our cabin
attendant, Rhonda was very good. We
would leave the room being a mess and would alway come back to it clean. The food I liked
best was the pizza and
hotdogs at the Solarium Pool. Went there mostly at night. It was open from 1:00 a.m until
5:00 a.m. I also ate at snack
time starting at 4:00 p.m. at the Windjammer. Hint..don't eat too much because you will
lose your appetite for dinner. I
only ate dinner in the Dining Room. The service was great, especially our waiter Sophia.
They would put on a show almost
every night. I did eat dinner one night at the Windjammer. I don't recomment eating dinner
here. The service here is not
nearly as good as in the dining room. The entertainment in the theater was okay. I liked
the comedians the best. Overall I
had a blast on the cruise and made many new friends. Hopefully I will go again next year
on Royal Caribbean!

The Grandeur is a very enjoyable ship, easy to get around on and beautifully decorated and
maintained.We particularly
enjoyed her glass views and open decks. We took part in many of the activities offered such
as dancing, miniature golf,
shuffleboard, the Casino and used the pool and hot tubs.We met many interesting people from
all around the world and
enjoyed the shore excursions and Private Islands. We also utilized Club Ocean for our
daughter and found the program
and counselors to be of good quality. Our son made some friends on board also and enjoyed
the fitness facilities.On
arriving in Miami we were met at the airport by a RCL representative and escorted by bus
to the Grandeur.Our cabin
(cat.K) was very comfortable for the 4 of us with ample storage space. The food in the
dining room was terrific each night
at dinner and our fabulous waiter Paolo saw to our every need and even danced with our
daughter keeping her
entertained. Our water glasses and coffee cups were never empty thanks to our Asst. waiter
Steve and we were treated to
a serenade and cake in celebration of our 25th. Wedding Anniversary. The service there was
excellent.The meals in the
Windjammer and also the midnight buffets were good but not as outstanding as those in the
dining room.Labadee was
spectacular! We went Parasailing early in the morning which left us the rest of the day for
the beach and barbacue.The
view while Parasailing was incredible. We spent a little time shopping in Puerto Rico but
preferred to relax on the Grandeur
instead. The next day we rode the Paradise Point Tramway in St.Thomas.Take lots of pictures
or videos,the view is
spectacular there also.I am glad that I took lots of my own pictures since I was unhappy
with the video I purchased
aboard ship.We boarded the KonTiki party boat later on and sailed to Honeymoon beach for
swimming.It was alot of fun
with dancing and a limbo contest and great music. On Thurs. our 2nd. day at sea I was a
little seasick but still managed to
enjoy most of the day near the pool.A little tip I learned too late is not to eat citrus
fruits if you're feeling queasy. I
thought I was doing the right thing by eating lightly but learned later that citrus fruits
generate acid in the stomach and
it's the worst thing you can do.On Fri.we took a tender to CocoCay and enjoyed the
beautiful beach and barbacue before
the rain and the wind began. The tender service was excellent.Even with all of us trying to
get off of the island at once due
to the heavy downpour everything went smoothly. Our disembarkment and return flight also
went very smoothly.We were
very pleased with our cruise overall and would recommend it highly.

We just returned yesterday from our first cruise. We went on Grandeur of the seas. This
was the best trip our family had ever taken. We had been on
many family trips before but this one will stand out forever. IMy husband and I have two
kids ages 15 and 12 both girls. We signed up with the
air/sea program. I had my doubts about it going smoothly, but I was wrong. RCCL flew us
from Grand Rapids, Mi to Detroit then non-stop to Miami,
went like clockwork. When we arrived to Miami we were directed where to go. We waited
about one half hour, then we were loaded up into a bus
and taken to the ship. This is where some problems occured. If you are a US citizen the
line was huge to wait in. I would suggest coming in a day
early and staying at the hotel Rccl recomends. You can get checked in and on the ship
before everyone else and no lines to wait in. My husband is
Canadian and we were sent to the non-citizen line which was very small and had not a
problem. Once aboard ship it is beautiful, the grand staircase
is the first thing you see and is quite impressive. We were then shown to our cabin we
stayed on deck 7 a cat 'D' cabin. Very nice cabin we loved the
veranda I wouldn't sail without one. We spent a lot of time out their having champange
with the breeze and fresh air in your own private area. At
night we would leave the sliding door open and fall asleep to the sound of the waves. The
cabin was cozy for 4 people but we made it. We had
enough room to store all our clothes, but I would bring some extra hangers. There is not
enough for 4 people. The bathroom is small and the
shower even smaller. The sofa pulls out into a bed and the two twin beds you can put
together for a queen size. Our kids went to the programs the
ship had designed for them. Our 15 year old had the time of her life, she met many new
friends, she would leave dinner, we had late seating, and
met at the teen center she did many activities and danced until the early hours in the
morning. Our 12 year old went to some activities and met one
friend. They saw each other during the day, but she had early seating so after dinner they
had a hard time getting together. I would recommend late
seating at dinner, it gives you time to get ready and you don't have to rush leaving the
islands your on during the day. Ports of Call Labedee was the
first one. What a beautiful island with mountains around it. This was a nice relaxing day.
We rented the floting mats and just relaxed all day. If you
want to snorkle wait until you get to Coco Cay it is much better. We were going to go
parasailing but the boat broke down and that was cancelled for
the day. If you don't want to be hounded stay away from the native market! You won't
belive the native vendors. Bring plenty of small bills [ones] to
tip the band playing and natives getting chairs for you etc. San Juan, I really did not
like this stop. We wanted to go on the horseback tour but it sold
out right away. The day you board the ship. So if you want to do that fill out your form
first thing and put it in the drop box at the desk. We then
walked around old San Juan The only thing to do is buy jewerly and t-shirts. I didn't hear
any positive remarks about the tours. The fort is a nice
place to see. St thomas, This is a beautiful island. We rented a jeep for the day. We
drove around the island and saw the whole thing, many beautiful
beaches. Just remenber that you drive on the left side of the road. All the maps are
backwards. If our not going on a tour I would recommend the
jeep rental. I heard many positive things about the StJohn Sea & Snorkle Tour. I
wished we had more time on the island. I would have liked to do that.
Shopping is a great attraction here if you are looking for diamonds and jewerly. I have
never seen so many jewerly stores. CocoCay, Nice island. We
rented waverunners and had a great time. We were gone about an hour and went to many
places around the island. We had so much fun I wished
we had rented them on Labedee. The snorkling here is great and so are the banana boat
rides. This island is a real winner! Lots of activities to do
also like limbo, water ballon toss, etc. To some up the ports of call, the private islands
are wonderful and real winners. In San Juan I would stay on
the boat. and St Thomas is a lot of fun no matter what activity you choose to do. One main
TIP: get your tender tickets between 10 and 11 oclock the
first night. You will need these to get to the islands unless you have items rented like
waverunners or parasailing first thing in the morning, they will
give you special passes to get you on the first tender. The food on the ship is wonderful,
especially at dinner in the dinning room. The windjammer
can get a bit crowded but the food was good. I only had one day where it was so-so. Room
service is wonderful and fast. We had breakfast in the
dinning room 3 times always good, except for the toast it was hard. I used to ship shape
center and did many activities during the week I only gained
1 pound on this trip. So if you keep a little active you don't have to worry about your
weight. The ship never seem crowded excepted the last sea
day, we had a beautiful day and everyone was laying out in the sun, so finding a chair was
a bit of a challenge. They even opened the solarium pool
top. thats how nice it was. Everyone said this is very unusual for this time of year. The
first 2 days of the cruise it was very windy on deck, but then
the wind calmed down and it was beautiful. When you get to Miami they want you off the
ship early. PLEASE LISTEN TO DIRECTIONS. THEIR WILL BE
2000 PEOPLE TRYING TO GET OFF. You will receive colored tags, acourding to you flight
time, if you have a early flight you have to get off first. But
you will find people who should be getting off last pushing you, so they can get off the
ship first. You look like cattle. I even saw a man yelling at a
crew member, because he didn't want to go the direction they told us to line up in. He was
a very RUDE. But this was still the best vacation I ever had
and that my family had ever had. We will be booking our next trip with RCCL without a
doubt. The Grandeur is just that GRAND.

My wife and I took this cruise with the intent of not packing a lot of clothes, etc, which
is why we did all informal meals in the Windjammer cafe,
solarium, or room. This was our 7th RCCL cruise, and the ship was outstanding in size,
cabin comfort, and lounge comfort. Our one displeasure was
having a cabin on the main deck, which was below the promenade deck that some passengers
jogged on even though RCCL advised was not
acceptable. The crew also moved deck chairs around at 6 AM, which was also heard in the
cabins below. Shore excursions were few, as the itinerary
was to both pleasure islands and only stopped in San Juan and St Thomas for the standard
shopping and normal shore excursions. We did the
Bacardi rum tour on San Juan which was nice, and the other tours available seemed
overpriced or were done by us on previous cruises. Both
Labadee and Cocoa Cay are, as always, great places to unwind and do absolutely nothing!
Activities on both locations were many and varied
(parasailing, snorkling, skidoos, boat rides) with excellent informal food service ashore.
As always, the RCCL hospitality houses in downtown San
Juan and St Thomas were well staffed and a nice break during shopping excursions. The rest
rooms at the St Thomas hospitality house, however,
were under repair and only one bathroom was available. Lines to use it were quite long. By
far, one of our better RCCL cruises in the relaxed
lifestyle we did it, and the best ship we've been on to date. This is far superior to
Legend of the Seas, and we look forward to their new class of ships
on a future cruise.
