As I'm typing this (3/15/99)it's snowing here in PA and I really wish we were still aboard the Grandeur of the Seas or
on the beach in the beautiful Caribbean. In one sentence the trip was positively awesome. Itinerary was back to the
scheduled stop at Coco Cay versu the change to Nassau, and we were on schedule everyday at every port of call.
First a few words about the Air/Sea package. Getting there was great, plenty of time and reasonable waits to get
ground transportation, and embark. Coming back was a little tight. Our flight left at 1105, and we were cleared by
customs as a group at 930. The disembarkation process goes by a color code system and we were called in the
last group for the morning flights. Since we were close to the flight time when we got our luggage (which by the way
was easy), we could not check our bags at the ship terminal, and they had to go on the bus with us to the airport.
The buses are large tour buses, very nice and all the luggage goes in compartments below, so you don't have to
carry it on and off. The driver does the unloading and you are kept on the bus until all luggage is out of the
compartment, so there was some more time lost. Getting on the bus and to the airport took a little longer than we
had hoped, so we found ourselves waiting to check bags at the curb in Miami at about 1030. Don't be surprised if
people in front of you have ticketing troubles which will hold up the line. Also at the curb, all they did was check our
luggage so now we had to go up into the terminal to check in and get boarding passes. Its now 1045 and we are in
a line to get boarding passes for an 1105 flight. I hopped the ropes twice and finally got an agent to process us in
front of the rest of the line. It was then a trot to the gate and we were the last two people checked in for the flight.
Most of this was USAir's problem not RCCL's. But be aware that the process at Miami is not very efficient.
Alternatively we could have dragged the bags up into the terminal to check them and avoided the curb delay.
Hindsight is 20/20. Now for the ship. I don't think we ever saw anything so beautiful in our lives. The Centrum is
stunning, dining room is fantastic, deck areas are gorgeous. We had a stateroom with a balcony on deck 7 and it
was great. Very roomy, loads of storage for clothing etc. Our suitcases store one inside of the other, so they all
went together and under the bed. We also had a small refrigerator, TV, phone. We had seen many photos and
read many reviews on the Grandeur so we thought we knew what to expect. No photo or review does this ship
justice. It is stunning. Your first interior view is of the Centrum, and it overwhelms you. Loads of glass, marble and
beautiful natural finished beechwood. The ship is full of beautiful artwork and sculpture, public spaces are large
open and beautifully decorated. Clubs and lounges are pleasant and comfortable. Surprisingly there was always a
quiet place to be found to enjoy a glass of wine or champane despite the ship being fully booked. Pools and hot
tubs are also great. Dining. We had dinner every evening in the Great Gatsby dining room. You can check/change
your table assignment when you board in the card room. We chose second seating 830 and were very happy with
that. It gave us more time after being ashore to get ready and to relax with a cocktail or wine in the champagne
lounge beforehand. Our Waiter Reginaldo from the Philippines was great, very efficient and also personable. We
took his recommendations most every night for dinner and were not disappointed. A few times we ate other entre's
and were less impressed. Our assistant waiter Viktor from Hungary, was also great and very entertaining. Head
waiter Tony was visible, pleasant and regularly checked in with us, making sure all was to our liking. Expect two
formal evenings for dinner, one smart casual, the remainder casual. I have my own black tux so I brought it and
rented a white dinner jacket for the second formal night. Probably half or better of the men wore tuxedos. By the
way ladies, the second formal night is the more formal so if you plan to have your hair done on one evening you
may want to do it on the second formal night. Make your reservation early...THE FIRST DAY ABOARD to be sure to
get a time to your liking. We waited in line for about 10 min just to make the appointment. Also if you have a long
gown that is the night for it although long and short were worn on both nights. The beauty salon/day spa staff are
very professional but expect a hard sell on their pricey product lines. As a frame of reference, my wife's hair is
shoulder length and naturally curly. To put her's up for the evening cost $40.00 plus a tip. They did a great job.
Prices started at $30.00 and went up. I had a 50 minute facial, which I enjoyed ($79.00). They recommended about
$350.00 in products for me. Everything from whole body detoxifiers to moisturizers. Just say NO!! Breakfast/lunch
etc. The windjammer had good choices for breakfast and lunch. Check out the whole room before you start filling
your plate. You will find a sandwich station at lunch and an omelet station at breakfast in the center of the cafe, not
as you first enter where there are other hot and cold buffet items. We also had room service for breakfast twice.
We purchased the Royal Occasion package ahead of time and found our champagne on ice when we arrived. The
champagne breakfast was very nice as well. I thought it was a good value. You also get a formal portrait and a
frame as well as dessert petifores in your room one evening. Nice extra touch. The lunches on the islands were
good, not great and not bad but good. Chicken on Labadee was so, so. The ribs on Coco Cay were pretty good,
burgers at both were good. Drinking water is available in the Windjammer in glasses and at the bars throughout
the ship, but you have to distinguish at the bars between a glass of water or bottled water, which you pay for. We
found the tap water to be perfectly fine, taste and odor free - my advise skip the bottled water. On the beach
islands only bottled water is available (at cost). If you have a fridge in your room, take an empty container and fill it
up before you go ashore. Guess it's apparent we drink a lot of water! Also we brought about 6 bottles of wine with
us to enjoy before or after dinner. A modest bottle of wine aboard is $18.00-$24.00 plus a gratuity so you can save
on the in room wine by bringing your favorites aboard in a carry on bag. Otherwise the selection of wine aboard
was good. I am not a wine expert but found the list extensive and full ranging in price. Kids. Our 13 year old was
home. But I would rate the ships program as great. There were 200 kids on board and we hardly saw them!!! See
how good the program worked!! Just kidding....all the kids aboard seemed entertained and...as a tribute to their
parents...well behaved for the most part. A few teenagers were a bit obnoxious once or twice, but overall a great
group of kids. The kids clubs seemed nice, "no adults allowed" and the staff was great with the kids from what we
observed. Entertainment. We didn't make any of the shows!!!! Too busy. But others said they were good. The
Marcus Anthony trio in the Centrum was great....what a voice. The Rosario brothers trio was good too. Robert the
pianist was also very good. 70's night in the Viking Crown Lounge was Great. Go to the social dance lesson in the
South Pacific Lounge and they will teach you the Manhattan Skywalk. We had a blast. Danced all night. Other
nights were okay. We would have liked more 70's dance music. Apparently we were not alone as that was the only
night that the place was really packed and happening. If you have to miss one night don't miss that one. The ship
is full of beautiful artwork, and there are auctions most everyday. Now here is some scoop, if you like art. Sign up
and go, it doesn't cost anything, the auctioneer holds raffles, and you could get some free art. This is all original
paintings, serigraphs and lithographs. No, you don't need to be an art aficionado. We are not, but we learned a lot,
got a free serigraph and purchased another. Expect prices to be anywhere from $50.00 to $8,000.00. There were
even many original pieces by Peter Max and others. The auctioneer is very easy going and very informative as
well. It was fun. Free champagne too!!!! Ports. Labadee was beautiful. We jetskied there and sun bathed and
swam. Very nice. The Haitian merchants can be aggressive, but don't be bullied. Especially if you go into the
market they will hound. Puerto Rico was also very nice. We did the Old San Juan walking tour and found it to be
very informative and fun. Our guide Carlos was outstanding, a history teacher. St. Thomas we took the catamaran
snorkeling tour to Buck Island. My wife experienced some seasickness on the way to the Island and back....any
doubts get some Bonine (Available for free from the purser's desk) before hand. The snorkeling was great, my first
time. Saw many beautiful fish, squid, turtles and more. The sail was great. Obviously I didn't get sick. Coco Cay was
beautiful. Great beaches, we didn't go but others said the snorkeling was the best. Large sting Rays etc. etc. First
two beaches get crowded, walk down a ways and its more open. ABOUT TENDER TICKETS Get them for both
Labadee and Coco Cay early, like when you first get on board the ship. Lower numbers leave first. If you book
jetskis early, the reservation ticket serves as a tender ticket. TAKE PLENTY OF SUNSCREEN AND USE IT. Some
toasted people came back to the ship on several days. Crew and staff. We found the Captain to be a delightful
man.....very engaging and personable. Quite humorous as well. The rest of the crew and staff were professional,
personable and fun. Everyone was delightful. Photos. The ships photographers did a good job. They were
available but didn't intrude. On evenings if you want to get your picture taken once your all done up for diner, there
will be probably three or more photo stations in the Centrum. Go to diner about a half hour early and get your
picture at each station....no obligation. Also as you will see on the TV, the photo dudes will be making a video of
your cruise. Its pretty cool. When you see them HAM IT UP, and you will be in the video. We are in the tape from
our cruise about 3-4 times. We bought it $24.95, and it also includes the bridge laundry underwater shot etc. Get
in front of the camera and have fun. Well, that's a lot of info...I tried to cover as much as I could. If you have
specific questions or just want to talk (type) more, I'm happy to go on. This was our first cruise, and it's hard to
imagine anything could top it......but we're thinking about Enchantment to the Western Caribbean next year!!!!!!!
Sister ship and all, it would have to be great. Let it Snow let it Snow let it Snow..................

All I can say is WOW!. It is very hard to get back to reality after a trip like this, and I am having a hard time
adjusting!

First I will start off by introducing myself/family. We are a family of four-kids are ages 16 and 11. We went on this
cruise with another family, with children approximately the same ages, although they have girls/we have boys. We
are all from MN were it can get pretty cold and snowy. We decided to leave on our trip on Thursday, March 10th.
We had late flights that day, so that the kids did not miss school the day we left (this was not their spring break).
Leaving a day or two before I feel is very much worth it, you are rested and relaxed and actually it makes the trip
seem longer! We flew into Miami late (got there approximately 11:00). We had reserved cars us with Avis, our
friends with Alamo. We had no problems with getting our car as Avis has a place at the airport to fill out all the
necessary paperwork, they on the other hand had a not so fun time with Alamo. The Avis bus takes you right to
your car and you are off, another plus feature about Avis is that they have a drop off point at the pier and they
drive you in the car to the pier with your luggage and help you unload suitcases, this was a nice touch. With Alamo
they had to wait (at 12 midnight) in a Disney type of line, finally getting to the hotel at approximately 2 a.m., they
had to take the car back to the airport and from there board a bus to take them to the pier. All in all I would highly
recommended Avis. Enough about that. We had rooms reserved at the Fontainebleau Hilton which is right on the
beach in Miami. Wonderful hotel, the pool is huge, very roomy, lots of chairs to relax by the pool and that is exactly
what we did all day on Friday. Friday night we went to dinner at Jimmy Johnsons Three Rings which was within
walking distance of our hotel. Great food, great service, wonderful way to start our vacation. We then all piled in
one van and drove around Miami. South Beach held some great people watching, car watching and even Bette
Midler was in a record store signing autographs but the line was really long but we did see her in the window. We
drove to Baypoint Mall (I think that is the name) where there is a Hard Rock and walked around here. Then back to
the hotel to get another good nights sleep before boarding the ship.

Saturday-March 13th-Embarkation: As I said, the Avis representative dropped us off at the pier where there are
very willing people to help you with your luggage, make sure you have some tip money for this process. We each
carried one carry-on with essentials that we felt that we would need for the day, swimming suit, change of clothes,
undies, etc. This went smoothly, and this really was the only line that we ever waited in for a long period of time. It
definitely helps to have all your forms filled out beforehand and have your birth certificates or passports ready to
show the staff. We got our boarding passes and were ready to go. You stop one more time for the manditory
picture and off we went. The kids were really excited and thrilled when they saw the ship, and the size (The only
other cruise that they had been on with us was The Big Red Boat which was about half the size, and they were
impressed by the size of the Grandeur). The walk to the ship seems long but I think that it is because you are so
excited. I found that coming home on Saturday the 20th, the walk was over too quickly to leave the ship. There are
cruise staff at the deck (deck 4) to help you find your room. We had no problems as I have been studying the
layout for months! getting ready for this and found our room quickly. There is another representative on each floor
to give you your room keys, and we let the kids open the door to the room so that we could see their response.
Our room was 3098 and our friends had 3096 connecting room. Upon opening the door we were pleasantly
surprised as I had read that the rooms were smaller on RCCL, I did not find this to be the case, in fact, we had
plenty of room in our cabin. The beds that the kids slept in were retracted into the ceiling, and our bed was already
pushed together to form a queen. There is plenty of closet space, mirrors, lights etc. There is a safe in the room
operated by a credit card which we found very helpful to store valuables in. The closet space is very adequate, the
drawer space is very adequate. There is a T.V. with continually running movies, ESPN, CNN, ship information and
something I found interesting was a channel with a camera mounted on the front of the ship so we could see where
we were going. Our cabin steward GlenRoy introduced himself to us right away and found out the kids names,
ages, and how we wanted the beds moved. He put the retracting beds down for us, and there was a ladder for
them to get up to their bed and pushed our bed to one side. The window in our cabin was big, not the porthole but
an actual window. Our location was wonderful, right outside our door was the staircase, elevators, one floor up to
the dining room, two floors to the casino, what more could you ask for. None of our luggage had arrived yet so we
went off to explore, eat the first of many buffets. The Windjammer is a wonderful place to eat and there is so much
variety. We first stopped by to activate our super cards, which is painless until you get the bill on the last day! and
to get coke stickers for the kids which are $15.00 plus tip. We found that these were worth it as our sons drank a
lot of pop, but one thing I did not know is that at dinner all the drinks like Coke, lemonade, etc is free which was not
the case when we were on the Destiny. Our friends bought stickers too but their girls did not drink as much Coke
as ours so they did not feel that this was a good thing. The next thing to do is the mustering. It was a fairly painful
process although a little warm and a lot of people sure took their time getting to the drill, they call off the cabin
number and you just have to yell out how many in the cabin, have your lifevests on properly, this took
approximately 20 or so minutes. We were ready to sail, the captain did hold off on our sailing because there were
people that were late in getting to the ship so we left Miami at approximately 5:30 or so to sail to Labadee, Haiti. We
had first seating at 6 p.m. and our luggage had just arrived, so we did not change to eat for the first night, and
found that we were not the only ones that did this, really the first night was very casual. We met our waiter Bulent
from Turkey and Peter our assistant waiter from Hungary. They both took such good care of us. We were seated at
a table for 8 in the upper dining room. Bulent always was very professional when he needed to be, very helpful with
the recommendations, and very very friendly. We actually had never had such great service or such friendly
service in our dining room before and going to dinner was a pleasure on this trip. We never did make any other
meals other than dinner meals so I cannot tell you how breakfast or lunch went. The show this night was later and it
was okay. One thing that we were disappointed in was our cruise director, Gregory Maxwell. He did not seem very
friendly and his jokes were old. His assistant Matt was a hoot, and made the shows fun. We went to the show,
played some in the casino-actually winning and then went to bed. Our bed was moved just as we asked, the kids
beds were down from the ceiling and the ship rocked us to sleep. Do not forget about the chocolates on the bed
and definitely pay attention to the Cruise Compass that is delivered each night, it helps to have this handy.

Sunday-March 14th. At sea day. Get up early if you want to tan, chairs go VERY quickly and it is hard to find a
good spot. There is a calypso band playing at the pool and they were fabulous. Breakfasts were always ate in the
Windjammer, could find something different every day, omelets made to order, if you wanted a bagel just ask. The
food was good, variety was good, I do not know how people can complain about the food or the quality as you can
always find something to eat at all hours of the day-night-in fact 24 hour room service and this was good too as we
used this a lot for breakfast, coffee, eggs etc. Always very fast, and hot. You will notice the wind on the deck and
this day is really one of the only days that I noticed the ship rocking. Bonine is available at the Pursers desk and
they are very helpful in giving this out. We used only one pill a day and this really helped for the motion sickness.
The second sea day was a little more rocky and definitely noticed the ship rocking this day but by then, I think we
were used to it. This was the first formal night and everyone looked great, and pictures are available at a lot of
different spots on the ship. One disappointment for us was our group photo that night was somehow never
developed so we did not get to see this. The food again in the dining room was great, recommendations were great
from Bulent and we never left the dining room hungary I can say that for sure. The show this night was comedy
Wayne Cotter, and the acrobatic family The Ashtons. It amazed me that they could do this on a ship that was
moving and rocking I know I would be unable to. Back to the casino-winning again a little! The kids always found
something to do, they usually went to the show, sometimes twice, and then hot tubing afterwards. Our older ones
did not take part in the teen programs but the two younger ones did and had a great time.

Monday-March 15th-Labadee-Haiti. Tender tickets are needed if you want to go early. We were on tender 6 and
that did get us to the shore quickly enough. We did not do any tours on this vacation, we were going to do the
waverunner here but it was $80.00 and you were directed with a guide around the island, our son (16) could have
driven on this tour but he was more interested in laying in the sun, and wanted to be able to just drive the
waverunner whereever he wanted to so therefore we did not spend the $80.00 to do this. Be prepared on this
island with tip money as you can rent floating mats ($5.00) which we did, and they have local people helping you
with this. We wanted to go to the second beach and our helper carried the mats (four) to the second beach, got us
chairs (8) to sit in. This was a really nice spot and the lunch here was excellent. The Haitian market is interesting
and we did barter with the locals and did get some interesting wood carvings. They are very interested in showing
you what they make. We made it back to the ship around 3:30 and went to the hot tub, and then got ready to eat
(again!) for dinner. As I said before, I think this was the favorite time of the day just to sit relax be waited on by
fabulous service. Peter always seemed to remember what we were drinking each night, and before asking our
Cokes/Lemonades were at our spot, water glasses were full and recommendations given by Bulent. Show this night
was variety- Wilde and Haines (VERY FUNNY) and singer Carmelita, who was very good. The kids actually went
twice because they thought the comedy was great. Casino again was very friendly (we were playing Caribbean
Stud) and always seemed to come out ahead. This night upon retiring we set our clocks ahead by one hour.
Sailing toward San Juan.

Tuesday-March 16th-San Juan. We arrived in San Juan at approximately 12:30 p.m. so we slept in this day and still
had time to lounge around the pool and take a nice easy morning start. San Juan was interesting, we had never
been there before. Lots of shopping, in fact that is all we did here. Our kids knew there was a Tommy outlet and
Polo outlet so we were off to find them. It was warm walking but I am glad we walked because the traffic in old San
Juan is unbelieveable, cabs honking and buses just sitting in traffic. We spent about 4 hours off the ship shopping,
went back to the ship and got ready for another dining room experience. We did stay in the port until 8 p.m. so we
could have gotten off again but decided not to. There was not a show in the Palladium this night until 7:45 and it
was okay. The special party on deck was Countdown to the Millennium and that started at 11 p.m. and it was worth
it to stay up, the kids had a blast, and it was really fun. Off to bed heading for St. Thomas.

Wednesday-March 17th-St. Thomas: We arrived in St. Thomas at approximately 7:30 a.m. We were up at about 8
a.m., breakfast in the Windjammer and decided to go into St. Thomas at approximately 9:30. The kids again were
interested in shopping, so we decided to do that first. Also in the pier with us were two other ships, one of which
being the Grand Princess. It is quite an awesome sight to see. Right off the boat there is a pier market which was
nice, but they wanted to go to downtown to Hard Rock so we asked and were told that the walk is about 1-1/2 miles,
Well, it was hot, the walk is more like 2 or more miles and so I would have taken a taxi had we known. My husband
and youngest son did not eat breakfast on board ship so they decided to eat at the Wendy's right off the pier. The
rest of us decided that we would keep walking and meet up with them at the Hard Rock. Well, I forgot to have any
money with me and so needless to say I was borrowing money from our friends just to get a bottle of water at the
Hard Rock which we arrived at at approximately 11:15 or so. To this day Steve and Scott said that they walked to
Hard Rock also but the rest of us think they hopped on a cab. We finally caught up with them and finished
shopping and were off to Magans Bay. We were constantly hounded by taxi drivers but we wanted an open sided
cab (You have to experience this). They drive on the wrong side of the road for us and take corners very fast. It
was a fun, exciting, hairraising trip to the Bay. Once there it is 1.00 per person to get in, beautiful beaches, and
you can see all the way to the bottom of the ocean such clear water. The floating mats were $10.00 deposit and
then $6.00 to rent, so we did not do this here. The kids had their hair braided, two each for $2.00 a braid which
seemed to be the going rate. We had a wonderful time here, and it was again so relaxing. At about 3:30 or so we
decided to head back to the ship. Wanted to take another open sided cab back and they are very accomadating to
help you get one that you want, and off we went back to the ship, this cab driver stopped at the top of the island
which is a breathtaking view of the pier and we got out to take pictures. He said we could if we wanted compensate
him for this stop at the end. We all were in this cab with another couple whose ship was not at the pier we were at
and they were very put off that the cabby dropped them in the middle of downtown to catch another cab to their
pier and this was not a fun experience listening to them hassle with the driver over the fare. He did take us right
back to the ship, dropped us right at the ships door and off we went to the hot tub, back to the room and then
again off to dinner which again was excellent. The show this night was Wave Revue which was a good dancing and
singing production. We left St. Thomas at 5 p.m. and sailed off to Coco Cay. Casino was good again to us. We did
do the galley tour this night which was very interesting, it is amazing the size of the kitchen, how spotless it is and
the different areas.

Thursday-March 18th-at Sea. We were up by 9:00 to the pool by 9:30 but again the chairs were in short supply.
We finally ended up with chairs on the upper deck, near the front of the ship and stayed there most of the day. It
did rain a tiny bit this day but it did stay sunny. The ship was really moving alot this day and Bonine was used
again. This was another formal night, I think a little more fancier it seemed than the first night. The captain came by
each table and that was very interesting meeting him again. The show on this night was a tribute to the Beatles. It
was good, but the kids were bored as they did not appreciate it as much as we did. They were off to do their thing.
This is the Gala Buffet night, so get some sleep in the day so that you can stay up as I fell asleep and could not get
up. I missed the buffet and carvings but saw pictures, it was wonderful. My husband was a little disappointed as it
seemed to be a lot of pate and desserts. At bedtime this night you set your clock back again one hour.

Friday-March 19th-Coco Cay. Our last full day on the ship, :( We were on tender number 6 and got to Coco Cay
around 10 a.m. and we were on the beach by 11:30. This was the best private island I felt. The snorkeling was
fantastic, $25.00. There were a lot of stingrays swimming, the fish were very beautiful. The mats ($5.00 each) were
worth it. On this island you carry everything yourself, there is not people to help. One thing that we were
disappointed in is that the lounge chairs are gone quickly, we ended up only having 3 for 8 of us, but the kids
mostly floated in the water with their mats so it all worked out. The lunch on this island was fantastic, ribs that were
one of the favorites of the whole trip. Two of the kids went on the Banana Boat ride ($8.00 each) and they had a
blast. The parasailing here looked really fun but you had to be 16. Our youngest wanted to do it, but he is only 11.
I was so happy that this stop was again included, although I heard Nassau was good too. We had a great time here
and in fact the kids played volleyball with the crew. They hung around with Bulent (our waiter) a little bit. He was
always so friendly whenever he would see us, and helpful. He was on the tender on the way to the island and told
us where to go for the best beach, straight ahead and a little to the right as you get off the tender. On the way over
to Coco Cay on the tender is when he told us that they (the crew) were told that they would be in wet dock for two
weeks and that the next two weeks of cruising on the Grandeur was canceled, due to a engine problem. I felt really
bad for the people that I had been e mailing with on the internet as they were leaving after us. I hope that things
worked out for them to get different cruises etc. Back to the boat at approximately 4 p.m., got ready for our last
meal in the dining room. We took pictures of Bulent and Peter with us and with the kids and we actually cried at the
end leaving them! This is the night that the tips were extended, and believe me we took care of them, as they had
taken care of us throughout the week. This night is the night that you pack up, sadly, and put your luggage
outside. Make sure you have a change of clothes for the morning or else you will be walking off the ship in your
p.j.'s!

Saturday-March 20th-Miami. We arrived in Miami at approximately 6 a.m., my husband and son did get up to watch
us come into Miami, they were about the only ones that did. They then came back to the cabin and went back to
bed. We were supposed to be out of our cabin by 8:30 but we stayed in it until about 9:00 and then went up to the
8th floor to wait for our color to be called. We were yellow and we were off the ship by 10:30. We had a flight to
catch but not until 2:30 at the Miami airport. This debarkation process goes very smoothly and our luggage was
found quickly. Our porter (Too tall) got our bags to the curb where a truck waited to load them on to. We flew out
on TWA and they have people at the pier to check in your luggage which was really swift. To a cab we went and
then had to look back one last time to leave the GRANDEUR of the SEAS.

I know that I did not get all the highlights listed in this review. All-in-all this was the most amazing vacation we have
ever been on. The kids kept saying thank you and this is great, and the best. I know they will remember this for a
life time. We took lots of pictures and have already gotten them back and seriously are thinking of going again
SOON. E-mail me if you want more information and I will be happy to write back. Just remember that you make your
vacation what you want and take the negative comments lightly because each persons experience is totally
different as we found out. Happy sailing!!

For my husband and me this was our first cruise. It was all we expected and more and will take another one when
our daughter finishes college. We would go on another Royal Caribbean Ship in a heartbeat. We had the air sea
program, and it was so easy, we didn’t have to worry about our luggage at all. Embarking was easy, just make sure
you have all of your paper work filled out and proper documents ready for when they ask for them, which is several
times, so make sure they’re easily accessible. Once you have been told where your room is, go to it and put up your
carry on bags, and get the Cruise Compass on your bed and read it. This is a daily paper that tells you every
thing-taking place each day. They will have a paper to choose which shore excursions you want to do on each
island, choose them and submit your paper in the box at the pursers desk, because all the good ones fill up fast.
While at the purser’s desk activate your Super Charge cards. You will have to ask them where to do this, because
they change this sometimes due to long lines at the purser’s desk. Then you can go to the buffet or just stroll
around the ship until they call for the compulsory mustering drill. Your papers in your cabin will tell you where you
have to go and other things taking place the rest of the day.

We found all of this day to be very organized, because
of all the things you have to do to comply with safety and getting the rest of your trip organized. You really can relax
at dinner and get to meet the people you will sit with the rest of the week. We found every one on board the ship to
be very nice and courteous, passengers as well as staff. After dinner you can choose to attend the welcome party of
your choice. But don’t forget to get your tender tickets for the tender boats to Labadee and Cococay, because
these islands don’t have docks you will have to take tender boats to them and the earlier tender you get the better
choice you have of beach chairs or hammocks on the beach. Tenders are numbered from 1-5 one leaves first. They
will have these out at the purser’s desk after dinner. We found the dinning room service and food to be Excellent,
very elegant but relaxed.

Room service was fast, but when we ordered breakfast the night before for the next
morning the food was cold. The food in the Windjammer café was great, plenty of food to choose from. There was
always pizza and hot dogs in the Solarium if you were hungry between meals. They only had midnight buffets twice,
once was at poolside and the other was the Gala buffet with all the sculptures. We were disappointed with the
midnight snacks that were offered on the other nights, they were mostly pate’ and crackers and only served in the
three lounges. The waiters for poolside or on shore were great entertainment and offered some great daily drinks
that were on special each day. Every day they featured a drink that was only 2.95 plus 15% gratuity. The
entertainment was great for the most part, the cruise director Paul was great, also the Wave Revue Singers and
Dancers. Clock Work were comedian jugglers and were superb.

The Moon Chasers which was the band that played
in the South Pacific Lounge was good at times but not on the nights they played for the 50’s night or Western night,
I guess this was not there style of music. On the second night Paul Boland was in the Theater, he is a singer
impressionist and was like none other we had seen, he received an overwhelming standing ovation. All the games
that were played each night were a lot of fun especially the Not so Newlywed game and the Quest. Karaoke and the
Talent show were some of the better entertainment. High Seas the calypso band that played by the pool. Most of the
time they were ok, we have heard better. Rick Starr a comedian was awful and to make it worse they had him on two
nights, he was so bad that people got up and left the theatre the second night. Ed Regine is also a comedian and
was great, he was so good they had a command performance of him a second night in the lounge, and you could
hardly find a seat. They also had his tape in the gift shop for sale. The Ashton Family was like nothing we had ever
seen before. Over all we enjoyed the shows, but thought they could have been a little bit longer. The music in the
Viking Crown lounge is for the younger crowd, playing D. J. music along with today’s hottest hits. Out of all the
islands we enjoyed Cococay the best. If you are going to go snorkeling this is the place. It is better than any of the
islands you go to on this trip.

Labadee was very humid and hot, bring plenty of water to drink if you plan to layout at
this beach, which is about all you can do there. There are no shore excursions there. The lunch that is served on
shore is great. They do have paddleboats, jet skis, rafts, and small sailboats you can rent. San Juan was pretty from
the boat but when we got into town we found the streets were very cramped and dirty. The shops were all the same
t-shirts, linen, and fake Oakleys being sold by street vendors. There were also beggars near the boat docks that
like to hit the tourist. St.Thomas was beautiful, lush green mountains and beautiful beaches. The Tram is a ride you
must take the view is breath taking. We took a taxi over the mountain to Megan’s Bay, which we heard is one of the
top 10 beaches in the world and now we know why. Words could not explain the beauty. It is not crowded either.
Only about 1 ˝ miles long, it’s in a state park so you will have to pay $1.00 to get in, but it’s worth spending the
whole day if you don’t want to go shopping. Shopping in St. Thomas was better than San Juan, but there were
jewelry stores on top of jewelry stores. They are very expensive too, but you have to bargain with the store clerk
and offer what you want to pay for the item. If you are not very good at this forget it they will see you coming. The
ship has a shopping talk several times to tell you what to expect on each island, but I think they have a deal worked
out with some of the shops that they push on St. Thomas.

The shops on board the ship are very expensive and
almost every tihing has RCCl on it. The best shopping we found was on Cococay at the native shops which only
take cash by the way, so bring some money with you, you can't use your super charge card here, except for mixed
drinks. Some friends went on the Wild Thing which is a speed boat that takes you around the island of St. Thomas
on a tour and stops at Megan’s Bay for an hour to swim and rides back to the boat, this sounds great, wish we had
done that. Cococay was by far the most beautiful; RCCL knew what they were doing when they made this a private
island. There is a lot to do here, snorkeling, pairsailing, jet skis, lying on the beach and again the food they bring
from the ship is the best. I don’t know if it was because this was our last island or what, but I hated to leave. Our
cabin steward Rudy was the best I wish I could have taken him home with me. When we first went into our room it
smelled of cigarette smoke, and we don’t smoke, he was aware of this and he cleaned our room so, that by the time
we came back from dinner that first night, you couldn’t tell someone had smoked in that room. He told us that the
people who were in there before us were heavy smokers and he didn’t know how they didn’t set off the smoke
detectors. I don’t know what he did but it was a lifesaver.

He also put our twin beds together for us and made them
up as a Queen size bed. The bed, even the pillows were very comfortable. I didn’t feel like we were on a ship. For
the entire cruise the weather was great we only had rain one evening, but we never were seasick. There are a lot of
activities going on throughout the day, but many of them overlap which makes it hard if you want to do more than
one. The workout facility is very nice and has great equipment, but is very busy after breakfast, so you had better
be there for when it opens at 7:00am. If you don’t want to go off the boat on one of the islands, this is a great time to
relax in peace and quiet and you can have the pool all for yourself. The last day is very hectic; breakfast is 1hour
earlier because of disembarking. So you have to get up early have breakfast and be out of your cabin by 8:30am.
So the cabin stewards can get the rooms ready for the next guest coming on at 1:00. Then you have to sit in a
lounge or around the Centrum and wait for your disembarking color to be called before you can go through customs
and leave the ship. The way they do this is very unorganized. You may be sitting for a while if someone hasn’t paid
his or her bill or someone has problems going through customs, because they take this very seriously, and no one
leaves until all this is taking care of. If this takes a long time they are likely to call all of the colors together and this
makes getting off very crowded, because everyone is trying to go out of two doors. Then you go into the terminal
and claim your luggage according to your color tag. And off to the airport you go, and you are sorry it’s over. And
you find yourself thinking when you can take the next one

Well, I waited and waited to be able to be one of the people to write a review. My wife and I were on our 1st cruise
for our 15th anniversary. I will do my best to give every aspect of what went on.

Let me start by saying that we are both mid 30's and have sales jobs. We have 2 children (but left them at home for
this cruise).

We booked almost 9 months inadvance and paid 964.00$ each. We had level P but got upgraded to N. The ship
was full so there were no further upgrades to be given.

We flew down a day ahead of time and stayed with my wife's aunt. We saw some of the sights of Miami. I booked the
airline and did not use the air/sea package. We got to the ship about 12:30 Saturday. UNBELIEVABLE...!! This was
really the first time that I had even seen a cruise ship. It was huge. I was docked next to a Carnival ship and ours
was sooo much bigger. It was amazing. Check-in was painless. We were literally in our room within about 30 minutes
of getting to the dock. Now..when people say the rooms are small...they mean it. Our cabin was about 2 feet wider
than the queen size bed that was in it. But, our thinking was that we were not planning to spending much time in
there anyway. The ship was very clean. We did not notice the wear and tear that others had spoken of.

We checked in, got our room key(card) and took our stuff to the cabin. Then, we were off to explore the ship. We
went to the Windjammer Cafe for lunch. The food was always good in the cafe. Keep in mind that in the middle of
the Cafe is a carving/omlete bar. We missed this the 1st day. After we had lunch and did some more exploring, we
got our bathing suits on and hit the pool. We both had pretty good tans when we got there... I am glad that we did.
The sun will getcha...! After laying out for a while, we made our way to the front of the boat to watch as we made our
way out of the harbor. It was an amazing to see how this thing moves.

Out to sea. AFter we got out to sea, we went back to our room and ordered room service. Might as well do it..!! That
is what it is there for. You are supposed to tip the waiters that bring your food. You won't believe what kind of
service that you get from them. I think that we ended up taking a short nap and then got ready for dinner. We
elected to have the late seating. We found this to be best because we were never rushed to get to dinner. We also
requested a large table for dinner. This did not happen. We arrived at the Great Gatsby Dining room and were lead
to a table for 4. We were kinda scared about that. What if we did not like the people eating with us. But...this was the
best thing that could have happed on the cruise. We met some great people on this cruise and believe me, it made
all the difference in the rest of the trip. We spent a great deal of time with them (Bob & Amy from Richmond). Dinner
was always good and the service was excellent. We really did not get hard with the tip "sales pitch" at the end.
Regardless, we were not hesitant about extending the tip to them anyway. Our waiter was Suad from Crotia and
headwaiter was Laars from Norway. It is just like everyone told me, you get what you want, as much as you want. On
two different occasions we got something that was not on the menu. One night my wife and Bob wanted Boston
Cream Pie...they got it. On one other night, my wife mentioned that she would love some chocolate covered
strawberries...guess what...! 15 minutes later, Laars shows up with a plate full of them.

I know that this will end up being a "shotgun" version of a review. I am writing of things as I think of them. (No rough
draft).

1ST day - sea day We stayed out at the pool most all day. The weather was perfect. Get there early and get some
chairs, they go fast. It is a great time to meet people. Oh, the band on deck is outstanding. "Who let the dogs out..!!"
You will find out what I mean... Take the suntan lotion, you will need it. You get burned without knowing it. Back to
the room for a quick nap and room service (of course). Dinner again that night was very good. It is hard for me to
rate the quality of the food. My wife and I occasionally go to very nice places to eat, so we are used to very good
food. The food was not alway 5 star, but was always very good. After dinner (always about 10:30) we went to the
Paladium that night for the comedian (Bobby Collins)...absolutly hysterical. Dont miss him if he is there. After that,
on the the Crown Viking Lounge for 70's disco night. So much fun. In the bed about 3am...

2nd day Labadee Private Island. Very nice beach. RCI had a good lunch for us there. We snorkeled some, but it
was just ok. It was a very good day to do nothing and the weather was beautiful. Everyone says to get early tender
tickets and they are right. The tickets allow you to get off the big boat and on the little boat that takes you to the
island. Don't be the last to get off of the island or you will be waiting. Always carry your supercharge card, always.
Again, dinner and off to the Newlywed/Not So Newlywed Game. I have to write something about this because my wife
and I were selected to participate...needless to say..we won the whole thing. It was extremely funny.

Day 3 San Juan We had a wonderful time in San Juan. We shopped the whole day. That is my wife's idea of a great
day - shopping! The weather again was agreeable other than a 30 minute rain shower. We ended up at the
HardRock Cafe with Bob and Amy and then, back to the ship. Dinner again was very good and I think that it was this
night that we stayed up again with Bob and Amy out on the pool deck till 3:00 am again.

Day 4 St Thomas St. Thomas was a very nice stop. Guess what we did? Shopping again. We did find what seemed
to be a good deal on an emerald ring. St. Thomas is a very beautiful island. The people are very friendly.

Day 5 AT sea Back to the pool deck. My wife made me get up at 6:00 to get us a good spot around the pool, so I
obeyed and did it. There are things going on all day around the pool. They had a belly-flop contest today. It was
funny. Also, RCI supposedly has the fastest ice-carver in the world. He was out by the pool today and carved up a
swan in 9 minutes.

Day 6 CocoCay Nice private island owned by RCI. Very beautiful. But becoming depressed about having to get off
and go home the next day. All good things must come to an end. We got back to the ship and started packing. You
have to have your luggage out by midnight so that it can be gathered up for you to claim the next day.

Day 7 The end Getting off of the ship was very quick and painless. We took a cab to the airport with cost 18.00$
total.

If you have any questions about going on your cruise-- please e-mail me. I read and e-mailed all that I could to find
out as much as I could before we left. People were very helpful to me. I have left more out than I planned to, but I am
sure that the thoughts will come back to me and will regret not writing more. Please e-mail me...

Before going on the Grandeur of the seas I read every review from every data base I could find to prepare
for our trip. I'm not going to go into every detail of the trip as I feel most have already been explored many
times over. First, I would highly recommened the pre-cruise package of one night. The cost is $75 dollars
per person and well worth it!!! RCCL booked us to the Hyatt Grand Regency. The room was not as clean
as one would like. The bathtub looked like it had not been cleaned in some time. We were on the 16th
floor and every time someone flushed the toliet it sounded like ours was flushing too. However, the staff is
very friendy and helpful. Another positive was the location of the hotel.

Of course the biggest plus was that
the next morning the RCCL staff is there and you check-in at the hotel and activate your supercharge card
so when you board the ship all you have to do is pick up the cards and your on vacation.Miami has a
people mover system called the metro. The metro can be reached from the hotel. For 25 cents one can
ride all around the city. So, for 50 cents my husband and myself went to Bayside(a shopping and
entertainment area with many resturants located on the water). Once there we had lunch and then went
on a boat tour for 12 dollars. We also shopped and a horse and carriage ride for 20 dollars. The best part
was to get back to the hotel there is a water taxi service that will take one back to the hotel. It can hold
several passangers. The cost was 4 dollars per person plus tip.

The hotel recommends NOT walking back
after dark and the water taxi is a nice alternative to a regular taxi. On the day of the cruise RCCL has
busses that pick up all the guests from the hotel and take everyone directly to the ship. Once onboard we
went directly to the seventh floor and picked up our supercharge cards and room keys and we were ready
to go. We were assigned to 7566 which has a balcany and is almost midship. Yes, the carpet was
somewhat worn in the room but is quickly forgotten. I had a total of six bags and we had pleanty of storage
space. We never heard any noise. Now, if you are traveling in the summer months forget leaving the doors
open, it is too hot. So unless you are like me and love looking at the ocean every minute go with a window
in the summer months. If you are traveling on a bugett, go with an inside cabin. The whole ship is full of
windows and there is always pleanty of room to sit and look out.

The service is what made our cruise. Our
cabin stewart Brian Patterson was always visible and always left our cabin beautiful. He also called us by
name. Dinning service was also excellant. Our waiter Mustafa was very nice and not overbearing. Our, first
cruise on the Disney Magic the waiters practically watched you eat! They would have four people hovering
around you in the morning just to pour your cream in the coffee. RCCL wait staff will do whatever you are
comfortable with. For example, our waiter cut the meat for someone across from us but never did he touch
ours. The food depends on your tastes. My husband loved it. I felt it was ok. Do not bother having
breakfast in the main dinning room it just takes to long. A buffet is served at the Windjammer cafe every
morning for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Just beware that sodas are not complimentry as they are in the
main dinning room.

DO NOT have dinner in the Windjammer if at all possible, especially after normal
dinner hours (eight). We missed dinner one night and went to the buffet at 9pm. The food was limited, old
and burned! The main dinning room makes every effort to accomidate the picky eater. The excursions
were varied. First, the waverunners on Labadee and CocoCay are 85 dollars for 50 minutes. We did this
tour it is high speed 50 mph and you and 6 other people are expected to follow each other through every
twist and turn. It took me until halfway through the tour to actually figure out what I was doing and keep up.
We also did the firedancer coastal cruise. It was a waste of time. There was nothing to see and the boat
they put you on just crawls through the water. I couldn't wait to get off!!! I was excited about going to
Puerto Rico even though all the reviews said to just stay on the ship. Well, stay on the ship. We did the
Barcardi rum tour also not one of my top picks. Going through the city, I found most to be very poor and
unattractive. I thought this was probably limited to the city but another couple that went on the rainforest
tour said there as trash everywhere.

St. Thomas was great. We took the buck island sail and snorkling
tour. Well worth the money! If you are prone to get sea sick make sure you take something before
boarding. It is not bad but we did get alittle quesy. And last but not least Cococay. Snorkle, its great. We
saw several unique fish. Make sure to go out to where the lifeguards are that is where you see the best
fish. Lunch here was better than it was on labadee. Just watch your plates, a bird came up and took a rib
right off my husbands plate. Many people live for the midnight buffets. My opinon is go to bed they are not
worth staying up for. The only special night was the Captains Gala midnight buffet. Yes, it was beautiful
but the food was not that appealing. They also have a habit of just seating you wherever there is a seat
available and will devide up your party. All things considered, we would sail again with RCCL. Actually we
booked a cruise for next year already. Your vacation will be filled with wonderful people to help make it
special.
