I like: Excellent entertainment. Good layout of space/stateroom. Food service on Lido deck
very good - great dessert variety! Very friendly staff.
I have reservation about: Quality of food served in dining room (the servers were very
good though). Swimming pools/spa were drained in the evenings and in ports. Commercialism
- even souvenir dining room menu must be paid for. No laundry room.

Overall a good value. We took the same cruise last year on Royal Princess and although we
feel the two are comprable we would ginve the nod to Princess.Legend is a large beautiful
ship, the staff is very enthusiastic and the service was exceptional at all times, at all
levels. My wife thought that the pricing in the beauty service area was high. We both felt
that some of the entertainment/activities were questionable. For example a pool game
passing a banana from each participaant useing your legs etc. The ship has beautiful
common areas which made ouur days at sea some of the most enjoyable time on the cruise.
Given the number of passengers, they handled shore excursions very well.We felt that one
of the best shore trips was Costa Rica. The port is very forgettable, it is nothing more
than an industrial port. However Costa Rica is beautiful and you would be short changing
your trip if you did not take on of the shore trips in this country. We took one called
"Traditional" and thought that it was very good. We would do RCCL again.

Fantastic voyage on a beautiful, relatively new ship. Great variety of food in the
beautiful dining room--plenty of different
seafood items, I believe at every meal. The dining room virtually had glass walls, so
meals were a feast for the eyes also.
Service was typical Royal Caribbean--perfect. Towards the end of the cruise I relied on
our waiter Richard to make my
food choices at dinner. Roomy, smooth, extremely quiet outside cabin with a large picture
window. It would be perfect
for inside viewing of the scenery in inclement weather. Entertainment was enjoyable, with
the highlight being a
performance by The Fifth Dimension. There were 9 first time cruisers (including 5 seniors
and 2 teens) in our group, and
everyone had the trip of a lifetime. There were plenty of supervised activities for the
kids, so the parents got a true
vacation. Our special air/sea requests were handled perfectly and without a whimper. Not
much outside pool activity on
the Alaska itinerary, just a little too cool and windy with teh ship in motion. Excellent
1/4 mile running/walking surface on
deck 10. Cocktail servers were extremely friendly and always close at hand. The wine &
cheese tasting needs some
work--frugal with the vino and overall boring. Shore excursions were varied and plentiful,
most viewing Alaska by
various modes of transportation (helicopter, floatplane, train, bus, kayak, jet boat,
etc.). Finally, the itinerary--Alaska. The
ports are OK (found a great trail to run in Skagway), but the highlight was cruising in
and viewing Glacier Bay, along with
Misty Fjords and other parts of the inside passage. Overall the cruise itinerary was much
better than I expected it to be.

I will begin with the fact that I was travelling in a group of 11 family members, and we
had booked three cabins under a
deeply discounted fare. This made our cruise a real value, although next time I go on a
cruise I want to go with my
sweetheart and not stay in a cabin with my cousins (sorry, guys, love ya, but....)
Embarkation was smooth and easy, and all luggage arrived at all three cabins by the end of
dinner (just under the deadline!)
Our waiter (Ernesto) and assistant waiter (Levente) were exceptional, especially as we
were quite a loud bunch, although not
rowdy. We were travelling with an eight-year-old, the fussiest of eaters, and they even
managed to please her. Her PB&J
sandwiches always arrived perfectly, triple-deckered with the crusts cut off - she loudly
whispered to her mother one
afternoon, "Mom, you could make my sandwiches like this..."
I was especially impressed with our headwaiter, Joseph. I had heard from veteran cruisers
that the headwaiters often only
show up to collect tips, but I found that Joseph appeared regularly at our table, and
remembered many of our names. The
cabin stewards were somewhat invisible on my deck, but one could find someone with a bit
of looking. Fortunately we rarely
needed anything. One thing that was nice was that every night we would all troop off to my
parents' cabin for "cocktail hour"
before dinner (we'd bought liquor at the duty-free shops to share) and their steward was
ALWAYS in the hall at that time,
ready to bring in extra ice and glasses for the lot of us. We all chipped in and gave Earl
an extra tip from "Club 2102" for the
attentive service.
Our first stop was Hubbard Glacier, and the captain was gracious enough to stay a very
long time trolling up and down the
face of the glacier so that both sides of the ship had a great view of the falling ice.
The ship had brought on board an expert
on Alaska, "The Professor" we called him, who droned on about the glacier for
about two hours. He was much more affable
in person, just wish we could have shut off the PA system.
The other towns were nice and I took three shore excursions. I thought that they were a
bit pricey, but I have nothing to
compare them to. Just ended up walking around Juneau, which was very pleasant. If I were
going to do it again, I would
choose all my shore excursions without meals, so I could return to the ship for them, the
food was "cafeteria-style" on the
excursions.
Speaking of cafeteria food - that's the impression I had of the food in the Windjammer
Cafe (the Lido deck cafe). Tasted like
it had been prepared in giant batches (which I'm sure it had been) and I probably would
have skipped it more often if it hadn't
been so convenient compared to the dining room, especially for breakfast. The midnight
buffets (I attended three) were
fantastic, the food being both tasty and pretty. Got to talk to a couple of the
chefs/cooks as well regarding their creations.
The staff overall was great.... very friendly. The young men (waiters, stewards, etc.)
were just flirtatious enough with me (a
single young lady) to be flattering but never pushed, which I appreciated, since I wasn't
on the cruise to meet my future
husband. The entertainment was good, they had a really amusing comic and the Fifth
Dimension aboard, and both shows
were great. The production numbers were fun, but predictable. The lounge entertainers were
all right, except the "Champagne
Terrace" singer, Tami, became a standing joke in our little group for her
unwillingness (inability?) to hold onto a note without
letting it go warbling all over the scale.
We really enjoyed the onboard activities; it really pays to get involved. Members of our
group were "volunteer jockeys" for
the horse races on deck, we took the complimentary dance lessons, attended a cooking
demonstration, a wine tasting, and
beat the pants off our fellow guests in Team Trivia and Team Name That Tune (okay, well,
we came in second both games).
The kids' activities were wonderful, if my cousin's testimony means anything. She couldn't
wait to go to Kids' Club every
day. They did all sorts of activities and had great fun. They had a sort of babysitting
service for $4/hour that they call "Late
Night Party Zone" so that the grown-ups can do a little partying on their own. My
cousins utilized this service three times
during the cruise and Andrea thought it was the greatest thing known to kid-dom. She made
some friends and had a ball.
Only one really sour point: disembarkation. It took near forever. Between the eleven of us
we had three different debarkation
"tags" and the first cabin left at 9:30, and the last cabin didn't get out of
Ballantyne Pier until nearly noon. Kind of a pain since
we were all essentially travelling together. But no matter, we were all still giddy from
the trip at that point.
All in all, the cruise was one of the best vacations I have ever taken, and I sure will be
going again!

The ship is a beautiful design with a feeling of openness and light due to the large full
length windows in the dining room and windows
throughout the lounges and reading rooms. The dining room meals were uncellent and each
day the menu included an alternate low
calorie selection. Often the same dish would be available in low calorie form with a
different sauce. The meals that were buffet style in the
Windjammer Lounge were slightly less appetizing. The best feature of the ship was the
friendly service by the waiter (Damien), the
assistant waiter (Karin) and the head waiter (Joseph) as well as our cabin stewart (Adam).
They were friendly and outgoing and appeared
to actually enjoy make our trip pleasurable. My companion had to make use of the medical
facilities and the doctor provided a detailed
examination and prescription that cured the problem. We took several excursions to see
nature up close and to visit an Indian Center.
There were very rewarding. The system for booking shore cruises was very efficient.
Unfortunately the ship was unable to cruise around
the Glacier National Park due to high winds and my flight over the glacier also had to be
cancelled. The weather improved later in the
week. The only negative aspect was in our dining room seating. We were at a table for 10
and the other 8 people were old friends who
were travelling together. Although they were politely friendly we felt as if we were
crashing someones party. The only other complaint is the
price of the drinks. It seems to me that $4.00 (U.S) for a small bottle of beer and $5.00
or more for a single glass of wine at dinner time
was a bit escessive. On the whole it was a wonderful experience and I cannot wait to take
my next cruise. I would certainly travel with
Royal Caribbean again.

This was my 14th cruise (I have been on one since). The stateroom was very nice, however,
the typical configuration of the beds made walking
around them slightly difficult. It was spacious and had plenty of storage space. The
balcony was a very nice feature.
I was extremely disappointed with the service of the room steward, one day we would have 1
towel, the next 3 towels. This inconsistency went
on for the entire cruise for everything in the cabin (soap, shampoo, etc). The room was
'tidied' up, but I had to dust, etc. Our balcony was
NEVER cleaned at all and by the end of the trip was salt caked.
I was also extremely disappointed with the overall maintenance of the ship, worn carpets,
dirty brass/glass, black grout in the public restrooms,
etc. For no older than she is, the Legend looked very worn.
The food was reminescent of high school cafeteria fare, the seafood mushy. The head waiter
was more interested in making sure that the wait
staff got in line to do the evening dance through the room. One night, he yelled at our
waiter and he left an entire tray of food sitting to join in.
So much for an appetite. The buffet food was normal for most ships, very samely and
seasoned heavily, and I do mean heavily with garlic.
Out of all my cruises, I have never been asked to leave a public room so that the staff
could clean it and eat. This happened to me and 7 of my
friends on day, when the lunch buffet closed.
The viking crown doubled as the disco, which if not for the cruise staff, was poorly used.
The DJ was more interested in flirting with some of the
other staff that he would leave the music run out.
The entertainment was good and I especially enjoyed the review shows.
The miniature golf course looked like a hurricane had come through, very unkept.
Royal Caribbean did an excellent job of the post-cruise package at the Fiesta Americana in
Acapulco, everything was perfect there except the
fact that we had to leave.
This was my 5th Royal Caribbean cruise, and it will be a while until I take them again.
For the money, I just didn't feel it was the class of service I
paid for.

Positive: The ship itself...a little glitzy but well designed, fast, and does what it's
supposed to do. Also outstanding
were the waiters and stewards, who really made the cruise.
In Between: The food...by necessity, it's mass-produced, even though there are many menu
options each day.
Compared to hotel food (Say Hyatt Regency) prepared for a large meeting (say 800 or so),
it would have to rate
excellent. Compared to your favorite restaurant (plain or fancy) where meals are
individually prepared, not in the
running. However, some individual items were very good, the food did not detract from the
cruise at all, and the
outstanding table settings and attentive service made dining aboard a very pleasant
experience.
Negative: Embarkation...RCI did a good job of welcoming and registering passengers in San
Diego (snack line in
terminal, etc), but as for actual embarkation almost 1800 people went through a single
metal detector and had
carry-on scanned by a single machine. This was a long process. Once aboard, however,
passengers were
individually escorted by stewards directly to their cabins. Also negative: The air-sea
package was contracted with
American Airlines. En route home, weather at DFW caused a missed connection and suddenly
pampered cruise
passengers were turned into numbers on a standby list, with no consideration whatever. My
point: This could have
happened on the way out, which would have really caused a problem (ship sailed on Saturday
and first port of call
for a catchup would have been Costa Rica on Thursday.
All Told: Would go again in a heartbeat. Wonderful experience.

The Legend is a beautiful ship with friendly attentive service which we have found with
all Royal Caribbean ships. As
we were on an 11 day cruise we had the chance to spend many days at sea and thoroughly
enjoyed them. There is
so much to do that you were never bored however you never felt that you had to participat.
My parents that are in
their later 60's also enjoyed the cruise and were able to find many activities to keep
them busy. The one thing I
always look forward to during the cruise is crepes with blueberries which they normally
have for lunch one day in
the dining room. I however do not go to the dining room for lunch and unfortunately missed
them. The head waiter
for our table, without my specifically asking put in a special order and served them to
our table one night for
desert. This is a good example of the service received. I would highly recommend this ship
and would highly
recommend the Panama Canal itinerary especially for veteran cruisers.

We enjoyed sailing on the Legend of the Seas. Beautiful ship and nice crew. Both
Embarkation and
Debarkation very well organized and everything moved along quickly. Was a little
disappointed on the first
morning oredered room service and it never showed up ! Instead of calling back we rushed
down to the
windjammer because it was about to close . Our Dining room waiter Gorgio and his assistant
were excellent.
Food selection was good but if I were to do it again I would order beef . The fish meals
were not all that good.
We spent four days at sea and three of the days were rough. The ports of call in Hawaii
were all beautifull
(Hilo, Kona, Maui and Kauai). The bar waiters were all very polite and gave attentive good
service. We were
surprised a little to see a head waiter wearing a dirty white dinner jacket every night !
All the show were good
and one night Jim Nabors performed and he put on an excellent show. All in all this has
been our best cruise
ever and we would not hesitate sailing on the Legend again or Royal Carribean. If anyone
has any questions
they can e-mail me.
