This was our first cruise, and we thought it was wonderful. We had heard that this was an older
ship, but it seemed to be in great shape. Very clean and modern.
We choose to use the air/sea option that Royal Caribbean provides. Overall, this was a good
option, as our luggage was transfered to the ship for us, and embarkation was a breeze. However,
our initial flight schedule didn't have us arriving in Miami until 3:30, with the ship leaving at 5:00.
When we asked to have this changed, it was a struggle. They were going to charge us $140 to
change our flight ($70 from airline, and $70 from RCCL). After much complaint, they did agree to
drop the RCCL charge, but it still cost us $70 extra dollars to get an earlier flight. (We were glad we
changed our flight - the ship had to be delayed due to late flights). Don't be afraid to mention
cruiseopinion.com if this same situation happens to you - it helped us save $70!
We were very impressed with the Majesty. We had an inside cabin. It was small, but very clean, and
it served us well. The cabin steward did a terrific job. The bathroom was small, but the shower
worked well, and we always had hot water. The daily schedule provided excellent information on
upcoming events.
The service was excellent throughout the entire ship. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and
we only ran into one rude bartender over the entire trip. We chose the main dining option, and had
a terrific wait staff. The food was good, and we always received refills when requested. Our only
complaint was that the Captain did not make an appearance at the Captain's Dinner. The
Windjammer Cafe was an excellent choice for breakfast, and lunch was fair. The midnight buffets
were amazing. We were expecting light snacks. What a surprise! It was a full course meal!
As for the ports of call, Nassau was O.K. Avoid the water taxi at all costs!! Take a regular taxi to
Paradise Island. Also, beware of the hair braiders! However, we did go snorkeling in Nassau, and it
was fantastic. Very well organized, and the water was crystal clear! One more thing - avoid the
straw market. Everything is the same - junk!
CocoCay was a dream. We could have spent two days here, and skipped Nassau. The island is
very nice, with plenty of room for everyone. We rented the floating mats, and that was very
enjoyable. The cookout was delicious, and so were the coco-loco's! A beautiful way to spend a
day.
We got rained on in Key West, so we didn't get to explore it as much as we intended. We took to
Conch Train tour - it was O.K., but it doesn't stop at any of the sites, so be prepared to take
pictures fast. The port is located a good distance from any activities, so be prepared to walk, or
take the Conch train to get into town. We ate lunch at Sloppy Joe's, and it was great.
Overall, we thought this cruise was wonderful. No major complaints, and we would definitely cruise
on the Majesty or any other RCCL ship again.

This was my second cruise ever. I had sailed on the Soverign last year and it was great. I had gone with 2
friends. However, this Majesty was excellent. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't expect service
above human capabilities, so I would term the service I received as excellent.
Eleven other family members went with me this time, and they had never gone on a cruise before, so I
was especially grateful for such good service because it made their experience second to none.
Since we booked a year in advance, we were put on quite an early flight. We had time to embark, settle
in, sightsee in Miami, eat in the Windjammer, all before the muster drill!!!
Our cabin steward saw to our every whelm and I wait staff served us like kings and queens.
The port of Nassau was beautiful and I even bought some jewerly this time. CoCoCay was also beautiful
and quite relaxing, even though while in the water I was write lesson plans for my class in my head!!
The shows were very nice and some pretty funny. My cousin even sang in one lounge.
I think what I like the best on the Majesty as opposed to the Soverign was that the dance floors was full of
people enjoying themselves and the must was from every genre and was quite hopping. I did like the
Soverign but it was much quieter, like for older seniors and honeymooners. The Majesty was just plain
jamming. And I believe that the tone of your ship has to do with the cruise director. I forget the
gentleman's name, but I will be asking where he will be for my next cruise. Now my family is in the process
of booking a cruise for our family reunion, and may I just say that there are quite a few of us!!!
Like I said before, I don't expect service above human capabilities like others seem to want, just
excellence. Who doesn't have minor problems with services thousands of people all clamoring for
personal attention at one time. The wait staff spoiled me so that I don't frequent many restaurants in the
Philadelphia area anymore. And as a footnote, when I help a friend cater, I use some of the tricks I saw on
the RCCL ships. Needless to say, we get repeat service. THANK YOU!!!

This was our first cruise, and we had a very wonderful time - it was a dream vacation. I do not have any
previous cruise experience to base my opinion on, but from my perspective, everything seemed first rate.
I had been told that Royal Caribbean cabins were small, but to me, they were more than adequate. We
had an interior cabin, and there was so many activities going on non-stop, that we only spent about 5 to 6
hours per night in our cabin. I am glad we saved some money by choosing an interior cabin. I would
recommend that unless you plan on spending a lot of time in your cabin, choose an interior one. Besides,
why go on a cruise if you are going to stay in your cabin all the time? A side benefit is that I don't believe
the ship's rolling sensation is as pronounced in the interior cabins - since they are closer to the center
line of the ship.
The air/cruise package, bus transfer, and check in at the pier went very smoothly and quckly. Royal
Caribbean definitely has this process refined. The same held true for departing the ship and going
through customs. On our return trip, our flight went out of Ft. Lauderdale rather than Miami (guess your
route is via the best rate they can get). The bus trip to Ft. Lauderdale was only 25 miles, so it wasn't too
bad. They did not have the Ft. Lauderdale bound bus marked clearly, and consequently, a couple of
Miami bound passengers got on our bus. This made the bus driver mad, because as luck would have it,
he had to unload quite a bit of luggage to get their luggage off. All they had to do was verify where the
bus was headed before they got on - that's what we did.
Another complaint I had read from reviews about Royal Caribbean was their lack of food quality. Maybe I
am not sophisticated enough, but I thought the dining room food was outstanding. The Windjammer
Café's food had a bit less quality - but it was still above average for buffet style. The only complaint was
that the punch in the Café seemed a bit watered-down. In the dining room, we had first seating, which
starts at 6 pm. Unfortunately, this was when we left most ports, as well as when the sunsets occured, so
we missed some of that excitement. One nite, we ate at the Windjammer just so we could see the sunset. I
would recommend second seating, which occurs at 8:30 pm, so you won't miss watching the departures
or sunsets.
The price of drinks were not too bad. Most drinks were under 5 bucks. They automatically add a 15%
gratuity to the drinks you buy. They do have a 'drink of the day' - usually some kind of fruit juice with rum.
The drink specials were under 4 bucks (including gratuity). If you like soft drinks, you get a Coke in the
main dining room at no cost. A Coke anywhere else will cost you a buck and a half.
Our biggest disappointment was that the four day cruise was over too quickly. Our travel agent tried to
talk us into a 7 day cruise, but I only wanted to go for four days. This was a huge mistake on my part -
and the only way to make it up to my wife is for us to take another cruise (which we already decided to
do). I recommend booking at least a 7 day cruise.
I thought that the Majesty was a very well maintained ship. Although it shows some wear - it is constantly
in use. About 3 am or so every morning, a cleaning crew gets to work cleaning all of the brass on board.
During the day, crews were constantly painting the vessel, replacing carpet, and cleaning other areas.
This made it slightly difficult to reach certain areas of the ship, but it was not too bad. I have to give Royal
Caribbean credit for maintaining the ship as well as they did.
We went in early October, which is considered the off-season. We got a discount for booking our cruise
during this period. Although the ship was not full to capacity, there were still 1,991 passengers on board,
and we really did not have any of the long lines or huge numbers of kids others have mentioned. I guess
most of the kids were in school. We had a few lines at the Windjammer Café, but you got through in a
couple of minutes. We didn't have any problems finding a deck chair either - as some had mentioned. I
would recommend travelling the off season if you can. The cost is cheaper, and not as crowded.
The only problem we saw with sailing in October was the weather. We cruised just a couple days after a
hurricane hit the Mexican Yucutan pennsula. The result was a lot of rain on the day we left, as well as
spotty rain during the week. It was overcast every day except for the day we went to Key West. That day
was sunny. While we were gone, Miami got 11 inches of rain. Luckily, we missed that.
If you bring a camera, the humidity will cause problems - especially when you go in and out of the air
conditioned areas of the ship. My video camera failed the second day, but luckily, I brought along three
other cameras as well. Even then, the lenses will fog over for several minutes each time you go out of the
air conditioned areas. I turned on my cameras (so the lenses would be exposed), and kept them in my
pocket for several minutes after leaving the air conditioned area, until they quit fogging over.
As a result of the storm on the first evening, the ship rolled quite a bit. It did not really bother me, but a
few of the passengers became sick. We own a 22 ft boat that we sail on Lake Michigan - and the rolling
didn't seem any worse to me than being on our boat (maybe were used to it). On another evening there
was a thunderstorm quite a bit ahead of us, and it was really cool to see the lightning bolts travel through
the sky.
In Nassau, we took the glass-bottom boat tour, and while it was OK, we decided that there would have
been a better use of our time. We also walked around the shops near the pier. Although the hair-braiders
were there in force, they were not being obnoxious in any way. There were 5 ships in port that day, so I
guess they had enough willing customers to keep them busy. Several of the people that had their hair
braided got pretty nice sunburns on their head the next day.
Coco-Cay was really great. We went swimming, and waded quite a bit in the water. We saw a couple of
sting-rays. The first one we spotted looked like a rock in the water, except it was moving. It was only about
10 ft from shore. I was told that they are so gentle that you can pet them. You have to be careful not to
touch their tail though - it is barbed, and you can get a nasty wound if you touch it. We were not brave
enough to pet them though.
At Coco-Cay, we were served a barbeque lunch on shore - cookout style. Just like on board ship, a
Calypso band played during the lunch.
In Key West, it was the first time the Majesty was able to use the new downtown dock. Therefore, we didn't
have to walk too far. I am a Jimmy Buffett fan, and I bee-lined it to Margaritaville, at 500 Duval St. We had
a 'Cheeseburger in Paradise' (no foolin', its on the menu), complete with Hienz 57 sauce. I also spent
over $100 in the gift store.
Unfortunately, our day in Key West was marred by tragedy when one of the newlywed passengers was
killed. She was hit by another vehicle while on a motor scooter. Everyone was really sad for the rest of the
day. The traffic can be pretty congested, and if you rent one of those scooters, you have to be very
careful. There must not be a helmet law in Florida, because I did not see anyone wearing one. I am not
sure if it would have made a difference in this case anyway.
Another passenger fainted in Key West due to the heat. The weather was sunny, around 90 degrees,
and 85% humidity. One of those hot - sticky days. Be sure you drink plenty of liquids when you go on an
excursion. We took a napsak with us and brought a bottle of water along. To cool off, we came back early
and took a dip in the pool. The pools are filled with salt water, which was a different experience.
Other than right on the shore line, I thought Key West was a bit dumpy. Our travel agent told us about the
poverty and garbage strewn streets we would see in the Caribbean. It seemed like Key West was as bad
as any other area we saw. Although it did have some very nice areas as well. Maybe it was garbage day,
but several times in Key West, we would get a whif of garbage smell as we walked around town. We did
not notice that in Nassau, but maybe it wasn't garbage day there.
One thing I did not like about Royal Caribbean was the way they were constantly trying to photograph
you. I was a bit annoyed when the pirate came around at dinner time. I did not like my dinner interrupted.
But on the other hand, if you declined to have your picture taken, they respected your decision, and were
not rude about it.
There was so much to do, from the evening entertainment, to the shore excursions, to just relaxing, that it
seemed to be over much too soon. We are already starting to plan on a second cruise and will take Royal
Caribbean again. Take it from someone that had to be talked into the cruise from their wife - it was well
worth it, and was a trip of a lifetime.

Summary This was our first cruise. Overall, we felt the cruise, staff, ship activities, and food were
excellent! We booked very early (nearly a year in advance), receiving excellent rates for airfare and
the cruise. We also received two cabin upgrades for booking early. The cruise was full; therefore I
don't believe we would have received an upgrade for any other reason. The Ports of Call were OK but
we were not tremendously impressed with Nassau. It was a short, 4-day cruise, which did not leave
much time to fully enjoy all of the activities onboard or appreciate the Ports of Call. I would highly
recommend Royal Caribbean and the Bahamas cruise. I will definitely choose RCI again for my next
cruise.
Embark Although we did not sign up for the Air/Sea package, we did purchase a transfer from Fort
Lauderdale airport from RCI. Since our flight was early, we did not meet up with the representative
responsible for directing us to the transfer. This caused some confusion but we eventually figured it
out. There was also a little bit of confusion when we arrived at the ship, but this was due to our
inexperience with cruising. Although the lines appeared to be long at 12:00 noon, we were on the ship
in 20 minutes. We walked around, familiarized ourselves with the wonderful surroundings, ate lunch,
went to the mandatory muster drill, unpacked and had dinner in the Windjammer Café while the ship
left Miami.
Telephone Calling Cards and Cell Phones Make sure that your telephone calling card is valid outside
the United States. We left for this cruise with a sick pet at home. Since our children were attending the
dog, we called home frequently to check on her. I didn't realize that my calling card was not valid in
Nassau until it was too late. We knew that our cell phone would work there. At Key West, everything
was OK.
Slightly Rough Seas from Miami The seas were a bit rough when leaving Miami. I'm told that there
were 7.5 to 12 foot waves. Since this coincided with dinnertime, it was very uncomfortable for many of
the passengers. SUGGESTION: If you have a tendency for motion sickness, take medication or
precautionary measures before leaving the port. The staff told us that the seas are always a bit rough
leaving Miami, but these were unusually rough seas.
Food There was always food available from 7AM until about 3 AM somewhere on the ship. Although
I'm told that room service is available 24 hours, we did not use it. We frequently ate at the
Windjammer, which was quite good. Although it is usually served Cafeteria style, there was a good
variety. The hot foods were served hot and everything was fresh. The dining room was excellent.
There was an adequate variety of meat, fish, chicken, and vegetarian meals. The food selection
included a variety of bland and spicy foods. Candido, our waiter, and Sri, our assistant waiter, were
both extremely helpful and courteous. The midnight buffet had an especially good variety of deserts.
Fresh fruit was always available at every meal.
Cabin and Cabin Steward The cabin was smaller than a hotel room, which we expected. It was quite
comfortable and we had everything we needed. The bathroom was a bit cramped but we got used to
it. Cecil, our cabin steward, was great. IMPORTANT NOTE: The bin underneath the sink is for trash.
Don't store anything there. Our travel companions used it to store some cosmetics, which were
accidentally discarded. Cecil was very apologetic and even offered to pay for them. We also neglected
to put our luggage outside the evening before debarkation. Cecil helped us bring them to the luggage
area on Deck One the next morning.
Ship Entertainment The cruise director, Parker, was extraordinary. He was very lively, funny, and a
talented singer. We only went to one stage show (the comedian) but thought that it was exceptional.
The short musical comedy number performed by the staff at the end of the show was very, very funny.
They have a great staff of singers and dancers. Other passengers said the same thing about the
other shows. We also saw the Not So Newlywed Game based on other reviews we read prior to our
trip. DON'T MISS IT!! It was hilarious. The Reggae Band at the pool was very appropriate. The musical
entertainment in all of the lounges was very good also. The disco and karaoke were most popular with
the 40 and under passengers. The shows were most popular with the 40 and over passengers.
Nassau We only had two experiences on Nassau: The Straw Market and the Yellowbird Tour to
Paradise Island. Both were less than extraordinary. Others on the ship had mentioned that a taxi ride
is an experience by itself. They drive rather recklessly. I wish we had seen more of the historical
landmarks on the island.
Coco Cay We didn't go there because of high seas. Instead, the ship went directly to Key West.
Key West This cruise trip had an overnight stay at Key West due to rough seas at Coco Cay. The staff
told us that this was very unusual. Usually, the ship will remain at sea until the next morning. We had
to wait for all Non-US Citizens to check with Customs. There are always a few uncooperative straglers.
This delayed our departure to the island. We were extremely lucky that two circumstances occurred.
We had selected the week before Halloween and we had an unprecedented overnight stay at Key
West. The Fantasy Festival was being held at Key West. It is much like Mardi Gras in New Orleans.
What a WILD TIME! The crew was more excited about this than the passengers. They don't normally
get much opportunity to spend an overnight stay at Key West and especially during Fantasy Festival.
The one excursion that we took was the glass-bottom boat. I thought that it was mildly interesting. Be
careful if you are prone to motion sickness. I wish we had taken a bike tour of the island, or rented
bikes by ourselves.

The following is an excerpt from a letter we sent to Royal Caribbean after our cruise:
To Whom It May Concern:
I am not one to write letters of criticism, however in this instance I felt compelled to inform you of the severe
disappointment and frustration we experienced on a Royal Carbbean Cruise.
My husband and I decided to take a cruise, our very first, as a special way to celebrate his 40th birthday. We
chose a 7 day western Caribbean cruise aboard the Majesty of the seas (March 28 - April 4).
Our dream vacation became a nightmare. My husband and I were awakened ALL night long, EVERY night by
a steady stream of loud 'thunking' noises above our stateroom. Upon further inspection we discovered the
area directly above our stateroom was an unpublished 'crew only' area, we're guessing a stairwell. After two
long nights with little or no sleep we reported the problem and even inquired about the possibility of changing
rooms. We were told the ship was overbooked and full to capacity. Perhaps that explains the horrendous lines
and why there were never any deck chairs available poolside. There were hordes of people walking laps
around the pool deck just waiting to swoop down on a vacant chair - forget about leaving it to use the
restroom. We witnessed one fight over just such an occurence.
The lack of sleep we experienced, night after endless night, had a snowball effect on the rest of the cruise.
We often spent much of the day in our cabin in the unfulfilled hope of catching some sleep. Likewise, every
night we returned to our cabin immediately after dinner. We were never able to experience any of your touted
shows, lounges, demonstrations, or midnight buffets; sheer exhaustion prevented us from it.
We did enjoy the excursions very much, however in the future a more organized disembarkation for ports
requiring a tender would be recommended. It often took us up to an hour of our limited shore leave just to get
off the ship! We also found that the 'paid excursions' ran one to one and a half hours behind schedule. We
most wanted to visit the various destinations, and based on the time lines given for the paid excursions we
chose, we would have time to do both. We were unable to have any 'free time' to explore the islands (Cozumel
& Grand Cayman) because both excursions ran over the time alotted and we had to return immediately to the
ship.
To be fair to Royal Caribbean, the service was excellent, the staff professional and friendly and the food
exquisite.
Sincerely,
Note: based on my experience with Royal Caribbean, their inability to help with any problems we experienced,
and the overcrowding, I would never book another cruise with this cruise line. The response we received to
the above letter was basically, 'Oh well, these things sometimes happen' and a certificate for $100 off our next
7 day cruise with them! My husband and I saved for a year for this cruise and it was 7 days of hell.
