This was our second cruise. The first was on Princess. We were travelling as a group of
six, and overall we had a great time. We
felt that the cruise was an excellent value.
The ship had a nice layout. It was clean and in good repair. There were lots of different
public areas so that they never seemed
crowded. One exception was the pool deck area, which was often quite crowded and noisy -
especially during days at sea.
However, we could always escape to the promenade deck which was much more peaceful.
Our cabin was quite small, but comfortable. Our only complaint was the lack of storage
space for our clothes.
Ports of Call: We did not go on any of the shore excursions through the Cruise Line.
Instead, we preferred to get out and explore
a bit on our own. In all these ports, this is easy to do. Labadee - a great beach day, and
the nice thing was there were lots of
different beaches to choose from, and lots of trees for shade if you wanted to get out of
the sun. Ocho Rios - Jamaica is
incredibly lush and beautiful. It was pouring when we first arrived so I can see how it
can be so lush! We took a taxi to Dunns
River Falls. The falls were beautiful and really fun to climb. This whole excursion cost
us less than $10 each. In the afternoon, we
went swimming at Turtle Bay, which is right in town and is popular with the locals. We
found it quite pleasant. Grand Cayman -
We found the town here to be rather bland, but we took a taxi out to Seven Mile Beach.
It's a stunning beach with white sand,
turquoise water, and gently lapping waves - everything you would expect of a Caribbean
beach. Cozumel - We took a cab to
Chankanaab Park. The cab was about $7 (for four people) and there is a $7 per person entry
fee to the park, which is well worth
it. This is a national park and it is very well set up. There are tropical gardents
featuring many native plants and a great beach
area with palapas for shade, as well as bar and restaurant service. Although the beach
itself is sandy, most of the shoreline is
coral reef where you can swim and snorkle(there is a small sandy lagoon where you can also
swim). I went snorkeling, and it
was the best I have ever experienced. The water was extremely clear, and there were lots of
fish and live coral. It is great for
beginner snorkelers, since you can easily walk right in and it is quite sheltered. In the
afternoon, we explored the town of San
Miguel, which we found fairly typical of Mexican resort towns.
Unless you are mostly interested in shopping (we weren't), the port lectures are not very
useful. Most of the time seemed to be
spent recommending the best shops for various products. We used tenders for Labadee and
Grand Cayman and they were very
efficient with generally short waits.
Compared to our previous cruise, we felt that RCCL really pushed us to continually buy and
spend on the ship. For example, on
formal nights there were numerous photo opportunities that sometimes interrupted the meal.
There was always someone trying
to sell you a drink, or a photograph, etc. I realize this is how cruise lines make a lot
of their money, but it just seemed a little
more in you face than our last cruise.
Embarkation/debarkation The embarkation process was quite disorganized. Some people had
received boarding passes at the
airport, while others did not. However, there was no attempt to separate these groups at
the cruise terminal, resulting in
confusion and congestion. Debarkation seemed a little easier, since we just relaxed in a
lounge until they calls our group
(everyone is grouped by different colored luggage times depending on flight times, etc.)
We stayed an extra night in Miami Beach
after the cruise, and we were all very glad we had done this. You have to be up and out of
your cabin quite early for debarkation,
so to add a long flight home onto this would make for a very long day. Instead, we were
lounging in Miami Beach by noon, and
had a day to relax before the trip home. What a wonderful end to a great vacation!

This was our first cruise, celebrating our 10th anniversary. I was apprehensive about a
large ship with so many people, but I also
wanted the stabilization that a larger ship offers. We were quite pleased that we could
find many places to be "alone" to
ourselves on a ship with 2,500 other people. The ship was very clean and well kept. Some
nights you could go to the Viking
Crown Lounge and be quite alone at a table for two over-looking the water. If you wanted
more interaction, the Schooner Lounge
offered a piano bar, a large TV, and more people, especially during Margarita Madness
where chips, salsa, and margaritas were
served. Deck 7, and the pool deck offered open air walking for moonlight strolls with the
breeze blowing. I'm glad this ship wasn't
the newer variety which I've heard is like a floating hotel, as one can't get near the
water. Dining Our dining staff in the Maytime
dining room was superb. Evaline Otten from the Netherlands was our waitress and she was
very professional, enthusiastic, and
energetic. She also has a nice sense of humor which matched mine. After a few jokes she
knew she could be funny back. Olivia
Aquino was our assistant waitress from the Phillipines. Olivia was excellent as well,
always seeing our glasses and condiments
were in place. Maurizio Curcio from Italy was our head waiter. He was a trip. Our friends
told us they never tipped their head
waiters, as they never saw them. Maurizio hit it off with us. He brought the ship's doctor
to dine with us on one occasion. The
doctor requested to come back again later in the cruise, but a medical emergency occurred
and his place remained empty at the
table. We did not eat much at the Windjammer Cafe'. We did find the food to be okay in the
Windjammer, and excellent in the
dining room. Cabin Steward Raymond from Honduras was our cabin steward. He was fantastic.
We got chocolate covered
strawberries in our room two nights, when we were supposed to get them one night only. I
believe it was because I asked if his
family had been safe during the recent hurricane that devastated the country. He was
pleased I had inquired. And I was glad
everyone of his relatives was okay. Our room was kept in top notch condition. Ports of
Call Haiti was okay. Friends of ours were
disappointed in the snorkeling as the water was murky. The sailboat would've been nice to
rent for an hour but I thought it to be
too pricey, and my wife doesn't get thrilled in the water as she doesn't swim well. Ocho
Rios was great. As everyone says, don't
miss Dunns River Falls. My wife enjoyed it alot and like I said she isn't thrilled over
swimming or wading in water. Don't take a
camcorder, or any nonwaterproof camera unless you trust the guides with it. They can keep
it dry with umbrellas and by being
very careful. I wouldn't trust my camera to it. I brought underwater one-time use cameras.
You won't get splashed, you'll be
soaked! Take beach shoes. The Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee did not thrill me, especially
for the price you have to pay. I got
one vendor down to $44 for 4 lbs. I had 2 full cups at two different places that were
complimentary. I'm a coffee fan, and I've had
plenty of coffee just as good and better. The Mad Annie's banana rum is $9/btl if you
negotiate at enough places. Red Stripe is
nothing to go crazy over, but try one if you like beer just to say you have. Red Stripe is
Jamaica's native beer. Our cab driver
went by the name Super. Our other friends then went and asked for Super by name and 15 cab
drivers responded. If you want to
have fun with them, here's a hint: Super has a half-sister that lives in Toronto, Canada.
I bet many of the other fakes won't know
that. We saved money by going with two friends from our table. we went for about 1/2 of
what the ship's tour cost. Our cab fair
was $22 roundtrip, split between 4 people. One pair told us they did it for $15. Maybe you
get more of a price break for couples,
as they can't split the fare up as much, I don't know. Grand Cayman was all Stingray City
for us, as the tour took 90% of our
time. My wife loved it. She screamed a few times as stingrays swam by her legs. We were in
waist deep water and she wore a
vest to keep afloat, but never really needed it. Do not forget to bring underwater
cameras. Mine were Kodak 27 exposure types
bought for $9.99 on sale. They want $20 on the tour. The pictures turned out great. I had
a friend we met on the cruise take a
couple of me petting a ray underwater. The Tortuga Rum cake is great, and the small ones
make great gifts. The banana and
coconut rum is so good, you could drink it straight, which shows they have superior liquor
than what we get in the U.S. Cozumel
was nice for shopping. T-shirts are cheap, as in Jamaica. Grand Cayman might've been
higher, but my wife thinks they may be
slightly higher quality. We went to Carlos and Charlie's like the cruise staff
recommended. Big mistake. The margarita was bad. I
think they forgot to put the tequila in. It's mostly for those wanting to get rowdy and
intoxicated. If I want to do that I'd do it on the
ship, not in a foreign country to be taken advantage of. They poured beer down the
customer's throats etc., and the food quantity
was poor. Plus, we really wanted Mexican after all of the fine dining we were doing on the
ship. It was totally Americanized. We
went to Poncho's Backyard and had a "real" margarita and a healthy portion of
nachos. Plus, I got two litres of Kahlua for $13.95
U.S. One litre goes for $27 in the U.S. Entertainment The shows were really good. Our
favorite was comedian Paul Boland, and
country singer Marlise. Boland's impressions kept us in stitches. He did everyone from Don
Knotts to Elvis, equally good. Bobby
Arvon was a little much. He was the original singer of the song Happy Days, from the TV
show of the same name. He did the
song abount 10 times too many for us, and we did not connect with him, although some
people did. It wasn't because he did
older material, because I like Sinatra, Torme, Williams, and the other old-timers. The
not-so-newlywed game was a riot. Cruise
Staff Paul Rutter was an excellent cruise director. He and his staff did a skit during the
show on the last night. It was one of the
funniest and most entertaining I've seen. Tips If you go over on alcohol allowance,
customs and the IRS will hit you for about an
85% tax. I brought over $27.00 extra in alcohol, and I paid $23.00 in tax. Keep in mind
though I got Kahlua for 25% of what I
normally would pay, and rum like I can't get for a couple dollars more than I would pay
for Bacardi. It's personal preference, but
we're glad we did the main seating times. Otherwise you just finish eating and it's time
for the midnight buffet. Also, we thought if
we got back on the ship at 3:00pm, it would be a bit much to wait until 8:00pm to eat,
especially after a day of walking. You can
always get lunch on the ports though. Take a water bottle. A 32 ounce bottle with a straw
will save you a little money as you
watch friends getting $3 to $6 drinks poolside. I mixed up some seabreezes for us and we
were good for a couple hours and no
poorer to show for it. They do have a drink special of the day that runs about $3.
Seasickness. My wife only felt ill for 2-3 hrs on
Monday night. We had come prepared with a recipe from the Naval Research Institute. 25 mg
Promethazine (phenergan), and 50
mg ephedrine. One hour later my wife was up and ready for the show. The nice thing about
this recipe is that you don't have to
take it until you feel sick. Unlike the patch where you have already convinced yourself
you'll be sick. I wondered how I would do,
but I didn't feel bad. The rocking helped me sleep quite frankly. The $79 package
including the Champagne on arrival and for
breakfast in bed, along with a portrait and frame were well worth the money if you priced
it out individually. Gather your photos
taken by the ship's photographers and put them together so you don't have to keep
searching for them every night. All together,
this was a fantastic vacation and we will be going again. The cruise was a great value.
The service and entertainment was
fantastic. The food was simply great.

This was our first cruise and we eagerly looked forward to a great time. We were truly
thrilled about the whole
experience. It was better than we could ever have imagined!
We cruised with a business group with all arrangements made through an agent. From air
departure to
embarking was a snap. It was nice to leave your luggage at the airport and have it in your
cabin before you even
got there. We did pack extra clothes in our carry ons for convenience. Some in our group
received their luggage
late, but had everything they needed in their carry ons also.
Our first day at sea was relax to the max. Poolside was always fun. Music was always
played. The cruise staff did
some pool games which were fun and entertaining. You may win a souvenir, but look out--it
may be
embarassing. Hey--you are supposed to let loose and have fun!!!
Day two at Labadee, Haiti was equally fun. We went ashore and lounged in provided chairs
and hammocks.
Rented mats to float on for $5 and went on banana boat $8pp. What a thrill!!! We had to
wait for about an hour
before our turn, but it wasn't like we were going anywhere, so just enjoyed beach until
our turn. Banana boat is a
must. Also there is a local market with great mahogany pieces. Go there with a friend
though, as they are quite
aggressive. We tendered here at Labadee which wasn't a problem. There was a big line
returning to ship, but
waiting was no problem since live music and lounges were provided.
Day three found us at the Cayman Islands. We snorkeled with stingrays, even fed them.
Don't miss this. The
ocean was beautiful shades of blue.
Day four was Ocho Rios, Jamaica. We had a great day here. We hopped a local taxi and went
to Shaw Park.
Beautiful flowers and gardens and scenery. We were on a hill and could see our ship in
port miles and miles
away. Beautiful place for pictures so don't forget the camera. We then traveled to Dunn's
River Falls. Another
must. The taxi driver recommended we climb the Falls by ourselves, not holding hands with
the chain. It really
isn't as daring as they make it sound. We quickly climbed it together and then Rick
climbed it again by himself
while I took pictures from the side and dried off. It was great!! A local market at the
top of the falls sells many
goods. Our driver next took us to Fern Gully and we saw 'Jack in the Bush'. Quite cute.
Rick even put on the
costume for pictures. The locals were very friendly. Before returning to dock, we drove
through some of the village
to see the real Jamaican life. This was interesting and informative. We returned to ship,
changed clothes, and
then went shopping at TajMahal center, walking distance away. Was able to barter and
purchase some great
souvenirs, including a 14 kt. gold, diamond and sapphire ring for 1/4 of what it would
cost stateside.
Day five found us at Cozumel, Mexico. We enjoyed snorkeling so much at the Cayman Island
we went again.
Totally clear blue waters. Swam with a barracuda. We stopped on way back from snorkeling
at a beach where we
ate a buffet lunch and some great shopping for silver. I only wish I knew where we were.
It was with a private
excursion, not booked with RCCL. We went on a nice boat about 30 minutes out to snorkeling
site, snorkeled for
1 1/2 hours, all drinks included, but no alcohol until we were done snorkeling. I do not
know what stop it was, but
the buffet and drinks were included there as well.
Day six was another fun day at sea. Poolside games, etc. You could never be bored. We did
the ShapeShape
stuff with Tim and got a couple free t-shirts. He was great fun and made exercising like
playing. All the exercise
we did and we still gained weight. Oh well.
All in all, we cannot pick our favorite stop. Toss up between Jamaica and Cozumel.
On board, we were treated like royalty. Angel from Bulgaria was a great waiter and Maria
was a terrific cabin
steward. We never once wanted for anything. The food was not only delicious, but
beautifully presented. The
shows were good. The ship awesome. Since this was our first cruise, some info I will pass
along to other first
timers---RCCL will provide towels to go ashore with, shampoo, conditioner, bar soap. Take
along a water
camera for snorkeling and the climb at Jamaica. The ship will do laundry and pressing for
a very reasonable fee,
so don't overpack. Besides, t-shirts are cheap at each port and also available at the
ship's shops. So leave extra
roomin luggage for that return trip.
Debarking was a bit of a pain, but hey, so was ending our wonderful week with Majesty of
the Seas!
We had such a great time, we are already booked to cruise RCCL again in December of '99,
but this time we are
taking along about 30 friends and family. We can't wait!!!

My husband and I just got back from our second cruise aboard RCI and we absolutely loved
it although the weather
did not co-operate with us this time.
Cabin: Our cabin was on Deck 2 and we decided to take an inside cabin since we knew how
little time was spent in
them. It suited us just fine (we were a little worried being next to the cinema but we
never heard a thing!) We sailed
with another couple who had a room on Deck 5 right in the front of the ship (run of the
ship special) and they hated
it. As you cross the Atlantic into the Caribbean the wind kicked up and the water was a
little rougher - boy did you
feel it! We visited their room just to see how bad it was and I got knocked off my feet.
They had to take seasickness
pills twice so beware your cabin location! Just a note about our cabin steward: Wonderful
guy (Rogelio)! Made up
our room twice a day but I swear he was under the bed or something! We would leave for
breakfast and in the 20
mins. we were gone our room was spotless. Also, he would leave us towel art at night
(towels wrapped in the
shape of an animal)
Food: What can I say about the food except that there is way too much! I've heard some
reviews that the
Windjammer was not that great - well we liked it (we went there for breakfast and lunch)
Yes, it's like a cafeteria but
not cafeteria quality at all. Always an abundance of food and many choices for those picky
eaters. The dining room
was excellent (if we liked a particular appetizer our waiter brought us another without
even asking!) By the second
night our preferred drinks were waiting for us when we got there (BTW..took the early
seating and found this was
much better for us as we don't like to eat late) The menu always had a great variety (I
had every fish they offered)
and there was always a steak choice for those non-adventurous people.
Ports of Call: Labadee: This is a beautiful island! We have been here before so we knew
not to stay at the beach
where the tender drops you off. Take the little bus further down and there are 2 more
secluded beaches (less
crowding!) We rented the floating mats and just lay there until lunch time. After lunch we
went to see the Dragon's
Rock (this amazing formation that juts out into the ocean) and then went back to the boat
as it had clouded over and
the weather was not great.
Ocho Rios: Did the Dunns River Falls and Shopping excursion. The falls is a must for
anyone who has not done it. It
is kind of physical but nothing strenuous. We did rent the sea shoes (recommended) as the
rocks are slippery. Out
guide was great (went barefoot, holding about 10 cameras and a cigarette) and not a drop
of water on him! Beware
on your way out - they cleverly make you go throughout their little market and the
merchants harass you to look and
buy. I politely kept saying no until I got annoyed and just stopped talking to them all
together - did not enjoy this part
at all!
Grand Cayman: Snorkelling with the Stingrays! What an amazing thrill. I was a little
scared at first but the stingrays
do not do anything - they are beautiful creatures. The weather did not co-operate here
either (we sailed right into a
rain storm but came out of the cloud about 5 mins later..made for some tense moments) Have
to say that Grand
Cayman is a beautiful island and has the most beautiful, clear water I've ever seen. Our
friend did have a medical
emergency though. Getting back on the boat she realised that she had stepped on a jagged
rock and had a deep
gash between her third and fourth toe. Upon returning to the ship the ship's doctor
stitched it up (5 stitches) and
gave her some painkillers. Even so far as to call her the next day to see how she was (I
thought the medical care
was great and the expenses were taken care of through insurance)
Cozumel: Another cloudy day although the sun did make an appearance in the afternoon. We
rented a jeep and
toured the island ourselves (I think we drove around it in about 3 hours) Cute beaches
with friendly people along the
way. We also stopped at the San Gervasio ruins (not much to see unless you are a
sightseeing buff which I am not)
but it was cheap and we had time to kill. Shopping was good (lots of t-shirts, blankets
and alcohol)
The shows:
First let me say that our cruise director,Paul Rudder and his staff did an excellent job
keeping us entertained! While
I did not care for the 50's show the Wave Revue put on (very glitzy and cheesy) the rest
of the entertainment was
great. Bauser from Sha-Na-Na was on board as well as 2 FUNNY comedians (don't remember
their names) The
most side-splitting show was the Not So Newlywed Game
do not miss this whatever you
do! We almost fell out of
chairs from laughing so hard! Also, they had dancing under the stars up on deck one
evening and that was great
fun (we even made it to the video they were filming of course had to buy it after that!)
All in all, I am sad it is over as it is perhaps the best way to spend 7 days. We will
definitely sail with RCI again as
each time is a wonderful vacation that leaves us with beautiful memories!

On this our 7th cruise, our 4th on this itinerary and our 1st on RCL, I can only give
praise and applaude the
efforts of RCL on behalf of their overall high regard for its passengers.
We did not see our luggage after arriving at the airport until it arrived in our
stateroom. On the subject of our
stateroom, while we had heard RCL is not known for the size of its cabins, we were not
prepared for just how
small it was. For the first time not only was there not enough space to unpack all our
luggage, having had inside
cabins many times before, we found this one very clastrophobic. Our cabin steward, Randy,
was gentle, kind,
and there when you needed him, whether you knew it or not! It was amazing how he kept our
room so neat in
such a small space.
We were rather disappointed in the welcome aboard buffetlunch. The long lines and
appearance of the food
offered, certainly did not meet up with the standards set for the excellent food service
we found on the remainder
of the trip. Other than that, we had some of the finest meals we have had anywhere. My
husband's fat free diet
was not hard to stick too in the least and our waiter was most accommodating. Hubby did
find the diet hard to
stick to with all the mouth-water choices presented at each meal.
The ships lay-out made it easy to find your way around. For the first time I didn't get
lost!! The ships staff was
attentive, polite and helpful and unobtrusive.
As I said, having done this itinerary four times, nothing was new to us. We love all the
islands the ship stops at
except for Jamaica. It is unsafe to go it on your own and the cruise talk prior to the
stop makes no uncertain
bones about it. We loved the stop at Labidi! We love Grand Cayman for snorkeling, but be
advised it is an
expensive island. We chose to go to one of the hotel beaches rather than venture the long
distance to Cemetary
Beach (a great snorkeling spot) because of the limited time we were in port. The hotel
charged $13US a person
for use of their beach, a lounge chair and a drink. When I asked for a Mudslide, I was
told it would be and
additional $12US!! I had whatever they were offering for the drink voucher!
Cozumel is our favorite spot. We offered to take our dinner companions on a 'private tour'
and had a blast. I want
to recommend a place called Ernesto's next to the Caribe Del Sol Hotel (there is another
in town) for the best
frijatas and cold beer u will ever encounter. Cozumel is also the best shopping spot on
the itinerary. We did hear
people saying that the prices on fine jewelery was much better in Jamaica than in
Gr.Cayman. However, I want to
pass on something else I heard...you have to be careful in Jamaica that you are getting
what you pay for.
The on-board activities are plenty. The shows are professionally done with great props and
costumes. What
impressed us most of all was the wide range of age groups. From families with small
children up to seniors. We
met a great bunch of folks on this trip! We even ran into some folks who keep to a kosher
diet and were told RCL
accommodated them well.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me!!! I would love to hear from you.

The Majesty of the Seas was an excellent cruise value. The cabins in category K (room #
was 5303) are small,
very little drawer space. We spent very little time in the cabin, just to shower, change
and sleep. Bring extra
hangers to hang up as much clothes as possible.
The activities were fun, for all ages. Poolside activities during days as sea could be
more enjoyable. They had
horse racing and some belly flop contest. I would like to see them play bingo poolside
rather than in a showroom.
The shows were first rate, Las Vegas style shows 2 nights, other nights were comidians and
a singer, Angela
Teeks. She was too much of a diva for my taste, but comedians were top notch.
The shore excursions are the highlight of this cruise. We did the Sundancer Cruise at
Dunns River Falls, the
Stringray City Snorkeling tour (which is not really a snorkeling tour, you wade in
chest-high water and swim
amongst the beautiful animals) and in Cozumel we did the Tropical jeep Safari, which was
the most fun.
All in all, an excellent time was had. Just wished the cabin was a little smaller. Oh, and
the at sea days, the pool is
overcrowded. That's the only complaints I had, and these are minor.

This was our third cruise with Royal Caribbean and I know that I will find it very
difficult to ever cruise on another
line.
Having sailed on the Raphsody last year, I was somewhat leery of sailing on the Majesty,
it being a somewhat
older ship. My fears were unfounded. The itinerary was marvelous, as were the ports of
call. RCI's private island,
Labadee, was a real pleasure. The beach was beautiful with plenty of activities, not to
mention they also pro-
vided lunch. It was lovely to be able to relax and do nothing.
As for Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Playa del Carmen, they were all three fabulous. The shore
excursions were
tops! Do not miss Stingray City and the Mayan ruins at Tulum. Tulum is well worth the bus
trip to get there.
As for the Majesty herself, she is majestic. Beautifully maintained with a great staff! I
wasn't nuts about my cabin
at first because it had a porthole instead of a window. But, like my husband said, we're
never there anyway. He
was right. There was plenty of room.
Next year we plan on doing the Southern Caribbean itinerary. I'm sure it will be just as
great! Thanks again, RCI!
