We sailed for the first time. It was great. Our cabin steward Harris, and our waiters
Zoltan and Eric were great.
Zoltan made it fun for the kids at our table. (three 16 & 17 year olds). We were
seated with families with kids our
child's age. Never a problem with food on the ship! Ports of calls were fine. The trip to
the plantation in Jamaica
was okay, but we felt rushed by the tour people, the cruise people did warn us. You have
to climb Duns River Falls,
it's an experience! Bring a disposable water camera, not a good one. The guides will carry
your good camera high
and dry, but I saw quite a few getting wet from sprays. Labadee, the private island was a
nice relaxing day. The
bar-ba-que was okay, but not a large variety of food, hot dogs, hamburgers and chicken,
salad and banana cake
and cookies. I would have liked more. Activities on the beach to earn Ship shape dollars
and do the banana boat
rides (extra $$) but worth it. Grand Cayman, go to Sting Ray city if you can. It's an
experience you will never forget!
Bring the underwater disposable camera again, you won't believe the shots you will get.
You just stand in waist
deep water bend over and shoot. Tip your boat captain here, he earns his money! The
shopping in Grand Cayman
is a pleasureee. No one hassles you, like they do in Jamaica. The cruise staff does a
shopping itinery at the
beginning of the cruise and it's runs on the tv all week. They let you know where to get
the good bargins and best
prices. Most things are guaranteed if you go to Royal Car. stores. Cozumel, beautiful. We
took the snorkling trip, a
waste! We were in the water for over an hour and saw NO fish, NO reef, nothing! Where the
ship docks, right
across the harbor there is a little beach, snorkle off of that if you have your own gear,
there is a sunken plane
there, lots of fish and free!!! You can walk there from the ship, not even 5 minutes.
Where they shuttled us, it was
20 mins. to see nothing! We did para-sailing. It was not a cruise activity, but there is a
stand on the beach where
you disembark. Well worth it. $45 for 15 - 20 minutes of "air time" Very smooth
ride, a great experience. There is
shopping right at the docks, we actually didn't go into town, wanted to do the water
sports. Disembarking -
everyone said it's a nightmare. We found it very easy and smooth. We were off the ship,
found our luggage and on
the bus for Ft. lauderdale within less than 40 minutes. Do yourself a favor and mark you
luggage really well so you
can spot it. All luggage is organized by color tag in a huge hanger, and all suitcases
look the same at this point.
We had bright colored pompoms on ours and they stuck out right away.
Our 16 yr. old teen didn't have much to do on ship. There wasn't much in the way of
activities for 15 yr. olds and up
until after 10:30 at night. By that time, most kids are tired from all the excursions and
want to get to bed so they can
get up early for the next port. The "teen center" was 3 video games, some game
boards and some basketballls. It
seemed a little unorganized, especially at the "welcome teens" get together at
10:30 the first night. This was a
vacation week, lots of teens on the ship, they really needed direction. The younger kids
were never seen, the
councellors for that age group really kept them busy with activities. The only time we
really saw the younger kids
(7-12) was at a pirate parade one night. I didn't realize there were that many kids on the
ship!
Since this was our first cruise, we were very impressed. We've always done Club Med, and
decided to try a at-sea
vacation. We're heading to an Alaska cruise in June because we had such a great time on
this one. Have fun!

I had the most wonderful vacation, along with my husband and two sons, ages twelve and
nine. There was
something for everyone's interest. The kids reluctantly participated in the kid's program
with a little coaxing from
mom & dad. They informed us they would go only once. That was all it took; we never
saw them again except at
meal time and while we were at port. They were off having the time of their life, while we
could relax without
worrying about their safety. We felt the kid's staff was very professional and the kids
thought they were great fun! I
would like to see more activities for the older kids, though. Our pre-teen, who was not
quite old enough to hang out
with the teenagers, did say that although he had a ball, there was not as much for a 12
year old as for a 9 year old.
It has been over a month since we have been back and the kids are still raving about their
vacation on the Majesty
of the Seas! We thought the staff was great. Everyone was so helpful and pleasant. The
food was delicious in the
diningroom, with pleanty of choices. The windjammer cafe's food was good, although not
great. It was nice, though,
to have the choice of where to eat. The islands we stopped at were great. Labadee was a
tropical paradise. The
natives working there were all kind and helpful. The grounds were well kept. Jamaica
wasn't the disappiontment I
expected. We all just loved Jamaica. We took a shore excursion to Dunns River Falls
through the cruise line and
ended up with a fantastic tour guide. We felt perfectly safe the whole time. During a
shore lecture, it was highly
advised not to take the excursion of just Dunns River Falls, as the falls and plantation
trip or was by far better.
Trying to keep costs down, we settled with just the falls. We later spoke with many people
who took the falls and
plantation tour and really didn't have many positive things to say about it. So our advice
would be to take just the
falls tour and save yourself some money at the same time. Grand Cayman was beautiful.
Stingray City was the
highlight of the trip for our kids. In Mexico, the Tulum Mayan Ruin's tour was great. I
felt it was the highlight of the
week. It was a very long day, but something we will always remember. Well worth the money.
Our kids were a bit
bored during the talks on Mayan history once we got there, but hung in there. They really
got a good education
that day, though. I definitely would not recommend this tour to young children. The only
disappointment all week
was trying to hail a cab back to the ship from downtown Cozumel. The Shopping Lady, who
gave talks on port
shopping, told us 15 minutes was all we need to hail a cab and get to the ship. Not
correct at all! We were over 40
minutes just waiting for an empty cab who would stop. We were getting pretty nervous about
missing the ship! So if
you need to hail a cab late in the afternoon from Cozumel to the ship, plan that it will
take you a while. I would
definitely recommend the Majesty of the Seas for a great family vacation!

The biggest piece of advice that I have is to stay away from the casino! I could have
bought someone another
cruise with the money that I dropped there but it was a lot of fun!
Here is some info on the islands we visited.
Labadee -- This was nice for the first island visit. Since RCL owns there is not much to
buy or do. It is an excellent
beach day to get your tan for the rest of the week.
Ocho Rios, Jamaica -- The most fun... DO NOT book any shore excursions through the ship.
Go on your own! We
had 9 people and paid 10.00 each to have a taxi driver take us around Jamiaca all day. It
was awesome. Goto
Dunn River Falls first to avoid the crowds. Then check out rafting down the river. Our cab
driver always made sure
that we had plenty of Red Stripe beer before we went anywhere!
Georgetown, Grand Cayman -- Most beautiful island. It is a very epensive place but the 7
mile beach is amazing.
Do the Stingray City snorkelling through a tour company. There will be plenty of tour
comapnies waiting when you
get on shore.
Cozumel -- I wish the RCL did not stop in Playa del Carmen because we did not stop in
Cozumel until 11 AM
instead of 8 AM. Anyway... The scuba diving was excellent. Goto Chankanab (I think that is
how it is spelt). You can
swim with the dolphins, go scuba diving, snorkel, etc. Make sure you hit Carlos and
Charlies by 1 or 2.
I was a little skeptical about Royal Caribbean because I thought it would be more of an
older crowd. However, it was
a very nice mix of people of all ages. I went with a group of 9 people. I highly reccomend
going with at least 3 other
people. It will make the trip a lot more enjoyable, especially when you do things on your
own when you hit the
islands.

Shore Extrusions:
The Dunn River Falls in Jamaica were wonderful. We took the tour that included the
Plantation, Falls and Shopping. There
was not much time for shopping. At the Plantation, one of the jitneys was stuck on a
bridge with water rushing over the road.
I'm very glad it was not ours! The plantation was interesting, but crowded with tours from
our ship. The plants were
interesting to see, but the plantation house was nothing much to see. There was a swimming
pool to enjoy and I didn't recall
seeing that mentioned on the brochure. The tour took all day! If I were to do it over, I
would spend the time at the beach and
Dunn River Falls. The Falls are wonderful! Red Stripe beer $2.50 (U.S.)
On Grand Cayman, we did not take an extrusion. We took a taxi for a ride to the beach.
Seven-mile beach is beautiful! The
shopping wasn't that great here. Prices were expensive $7.00 (U.S.) Stingray beer.
In Cozumel, we signed up for the Mayan ruins tour. The ruins were wonderful. Again, it was
crowded this time with more than
one ship in port. It was hot, so the water bottle they recommended bringing was a
lifesaver! The view from the ruins out a
cliff to the ocean is beautiful. There were craft stands, food and drinks. Free beer and
box lunch on the bus trip to Cozumel.
By taking this tour, we got off the ship earlier and it meant we had the whole day on land
including several hours for
shopping in Cozumel. The shopping was best in Mexico. Cotton blankets; silver jewelry,
gold and loose gem stones, paper
mache items and all reasonably priced. This was my favorite island!
The private Island in Haiti was very nice. Lots of activities and a few craft stands. We
stayed on the ship in the morning and
had the pool deck area almost completely to ourselves. Then at noon or so went over on the
tender with no waiting in line!
On the ship:
The food in the dinning room is much better than in the Windjammer. Quality was fine, but
not gourmet cuisine. I thought the
food on Princess cruise lines was better. We had lobster tails one night (everyone at the
table ordered two!). Steak or Beef
and Fish choices every night.
Photographers were everywhere. I got tried of them holding up the line at each port to
take photos. The formal events were
fine, you could choose which photo sessions to participate in.
The liqueur store on the ship sold wine you could have served with dinner or in your
cabin. Our Canadian dinner
companions brought wine from home to share on the two formal nights. That was a nice
touch.
The entertainment was top notch! Bowser from Sha Na Na appeared one night, A magic act
another, Broadway review night
was my favorite!
The cabins are small. But we got used to it. There were several weddings on board and lots
of honeymooners as well. Also
400 kids, which we didn't see that often. It was Spring Break week so, I'm sure that was a
part of it.
Hope this helps!

This was our first cruise and we both agree it was thee most relaxing vacation either one
of us have ever taken! We will of
course cruise again.
I will start at the beginning. We booked the air/sea program and 2 weeks before we left we
got bumped to first class on our
flight there. Since we flew from Seattle, it was a nice treat. After a night in a hotel we
were trasferred to the dock by buses.
Since we had done all our checking in at the hotel with R.C. reps, getting on the boat was
almost painless. We had also
gotten upgraded to a room with a window. Many people say it isn't worth the extra money if
you have to pay for it but we will
pay for it on our next cruise. It is a great way to wake up in the morning with the sun
coming in! Then came my first (of only a
few) disappointments. The welcome aboard buffet in the Windjammer Cafe. The food was good,
but not a good first
impression of what you expect cruise boat food to be. This goes for the whole week: It is
a quick, easy place to eat where it
does not matter what you are wearing. We ate breakfast there all but one day because the
view is better than in the dining
room, plus you can have your swinsuit and coverup on, then go straight to the deckchairs
for sun! I ate sooooo much fruit all
week. Tip: There are 2 buffet lines. The one towards the front of the boat never had a
line, plus the seating and view from
there is better.
Our room was bigger than I expected. It was just a standard outside cabin. People talk
like you are barely going to be able to
turn around, but that was not the case. Our cabin steward, Park, fully cleaned and picked
up twice a day. Fresh ice 2X daily!
There are no clocks in the rooms and neither of us had a watch so by day 2 we had to buy
one. Our room was towards the
bow of the ship and it was the only place I ever felt motion. Being prone to motion
sickness I didn't want to chance it and
wore a scopalamine patch the whole time, just in case. Next time a room in the center of
the ship for sure. I felt no motion
anywhere else on the ship.
Labadee is a great relaxing day. I layed on a mat in the water and could have done that
for all 7 days. I am a fruit addict so
the lunch was just fine. It was a beach BBQ so don't expect gourmet! I must interject my
husbands review here. He is an
experienced diver. We brought our snorkling stuff. He went to snorkle when I was laying on
my mat and they told him he had
to wear a life vest. It really doesn't make sense when there are people all around you
swimming who are not wearing them.
But if you are snorkling, it is a rule. RC owns this whole area so they can make the
rules. He argued with the lifeguard, who
in the end asked him so very nicely that he couldn't refuse. My husband was very
frustrated by it all and it is always the first
thing he talks about when people ask how the cruise was.
Jamaica: Big Tip here: Do Not book Dunns River Falls on the boat!! It is very much a must
see!! Just get off the boat and
take a taxi there. When you get off the boat they are lined up just waiting. The cost is
per taxi, not per person so find
someone to share the ride with. Not only is this cheaper, but moreso it is faster!!! We
were one of the very first people to the
falls and got to climb them with only a couple other people around. Almost by ourselves.
Our pictures turned out great
because there are not 100 other people in them! Almost an hour and a half later when we
were leaving, the busloads of
people from the cruiseline excursions were just getting there. As an aside; You don't pay
the taxi driver when he takes you to
the falls. He just lets you off and tells you he will be back in 1 1/2 hrs and tells you
where to meet him. It was a perfect
amount of time and he was waiting for us at the appointed time and place. Since you
haven't paid him anything yet (until he
drops you back in front of the boat) you know he'll be back! We got back on the boat, took
showers, ate an early lunch then
walked into town for shopping. We went to both shopping areas the ship suggested but
enjoyed the craft market off the main
street the best. I actually bought a 6 and a half foot tall giraffe! I have a zebra and
leopard at home. The guy wrapped it well
with cardboard and we (OK, my strong husband!) carried it back to the ship. We checked it
as a piece of luggage going
home and he made it just fine. The stares we got! The mistake we made here: We thought we
would wait and get our rum
cream - of which there are many kinds and flavors - at one of our next ports of call. We
never saw it again, so we lost out.
Grand Cayman: Stingray's a must! We got off the boat and got our own vendor once again.
Easily done, nice guy, nice boat.
But these guys can't go to where it is shallow so we were in about 12' of water. For my
husband who is a diver this was not a
problem to dive down when snorkling. The stingrays hang out on the bottom. But my
snorkling skills are marginal and I can't
dive down. We should have booked this one as a shore excursion from the ship, where they
got to stand in the water and
just bend over and touch them. The rest of the day was great shopping, nice people. Clean
town we would go back to.
Cozumel: The husband booked the diving excursion from the boat. It was a great deal for
the amount of time in the water. I
spent the afternoon shopping. Watch out for the margarita's at Palmero's! I could only
finish half of mine and was grateful to
be able to walk back across the street to catch a taxi back to the boat!
Evening Dining: Always a pleasure with Dan & Dayna, Chris & Becky, the newleyweds
we sat with (HI GUYS!) The portions
are small which I was very thankful for so that you could have a couple of appetizers,
soup, salad, a couple of entree's, a
couple of deserts and not feel bad. Or at least not too bad. Some of the food was
marginal, some was gourmet. Mostly in
between.
Etc.: We won $200 at Bingo, with $1 I won $150 at slots. Be on time to the lifeboat drill;
the boat goes nowhere until
everyone is at their 'muster stations'. We needed masking tape to reinforce our giraffes
ears when packing so our cabin
steward found us some. We got charged $13 on our bill for it!
All in all it was an incredible time. RC was a great cruise line, but we will try a
different one next time just to see. I'd be happy
to answer any Q's if you e-mail us!
