Celebrating our 25th wedding anniv. with friends celebrating theirs was a great idea to do with RCCL. Our agent advised the cruise line of our
celebration, but our friends agent didn't. When our cake came to the table one evening, the waiters, asst, whoever was in the general area came and
sang HAPPY ANNIV or HAPPY BIRTHDAY to others with the Head Waiter and the attention from them was very sincere. I had mentioned to the head
waiter PIERRE that our friends were also celebrating their 25th also, Much to our surprise Pierre and the group surprised them a couple nights later
with their cake and candles and song, Very French Pierre charmed all the women by kissing their hands, and congratulating them . Getting your
pictures in the dining rooms was no problem with any of the staff. All of them were quite the hams, and it only took a couple of days for our waiter to
remember what we basically liked and disliked, joking with the person who never knew what to pick, myself being one, and I always asked our server
, which one should I pick. His recommendation was always right on. There were so many choices especialy dinner, and what we liked the best, there
was a low cal side, and a vegetarian entree every nite. The desserts were out of this world. The guys who never eat dessert were always trying one
every evening.

Breakfast and lunch, we mostly ate in the cafeteria, There was both an outdoor and indoor area to eat. This area was always well looked after,
always changing the trays when they were 1/2 to 3/4 empty.

Ending the food category with the Midnight Buffet, well let's say we missed only one, and the high tea in the afternoon was just as appealing and
tempting as the midnight buffet.

Our cabin was an inside cabin . Very small compared to the Princess Lines. On entering the first day, the bed was two twin beds on either side of the
wall. When made into one, there was only a very tiny area to walk. You always had to sit on the bed. If we had of thought we would have asked our
cabin steward to separate back into two couches every day, would have been not so bad. No safe and no fridge was what we really missed. Our
friends had a larger outside room which supplied both fridge, and safe. Taking your own drinks (pop or beer) was no problem. We bought beer, and
our cabin steward brought in an ice bucket and kept if full with our beer everyday. We were not in the room very often for very long, so the size was
bearable for one week, but nothing longer. Small makeup table with 4 small drawers was the only spot for clothes with small closet to hang up the
rest .

Entertainment lounges were fabulous. Live band Vicky and the Holding Company were magical. Husband and wife harmonized amazingly together.
Any requests were happily sang, and if they didn't know the song, the group had practiced it and had it down pat within a couple of days. There
were lounges for every category of music it seemed and all were serviced with excellence.

Entertainment-Show Lounge was generally very good.

Age groups ranged from a couple of babies to a 90 year old. Plenty of honeymooners, middle age, and older, but no matter who you talked to, they
were having a great time.

Only one island needed tender service, and found they could have used 1 more tender , especially when reboarding. We basically did our own thing
on the islands, but did also use the ships shore excursions, which we found very well priced and organized, as boarding was usually 5;30 or so, and
not knowing the islands they were well worth the money, especially for 1st time cruisers.

Overall , RCCL staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. they work long hard hours, but were very professional and receptive

We are again cruising in November, and will be booking with Monarch of the Seas, The only drawback is a Sunday to Sunday flight and arriving late
6;00PM and having to disembark so early 8:30A.M. and flight not until 6;30 PM we were not home unitl 1.45 AM having to get up for work monday
was not great. Your first and last day are really lost due to time, but that could be with any cruise line. We will be requesting earlier flights both ways,

Back to RCCL Monarch
