We have traveled RCCL before..The Grandeur..the Nordic Empress is
showing her age...much.much.smaller cabins and overall a rushed
crew. They never
stop..
The food is not up to RCCL standards...and the room was a joke.
We had a cabin beside an entrance to the crew and all night, all
day,slam bang and
pound....all day, all night..not much rest.
There were 300 Argentinan girls (14-15) and 150 Asian's with
total of maybe 6 chaperones..needless to say, no speaky english
and very very rude...but
keeping with RCCL tradition as on the Grandeur, it seems if we
book a cruise they book 300-450 teens from a foreign country..
and the unsupervised kids
are all on our deck, at our seating and sitting in front of us at
the shows..
We are now in agreement...Holland America is the best overall
cruise value if your over the age of 30..period..HAL is a class
act.
The private island was much cleaner this time, the tenders are
great and the entertainment is above average.
The food is typical rushed, but hot, and again, raw bacon..
The atmosphere at meals was rushed..the head waiter did come by
each night and the two young men did an adequate job..although
another would
have kept us much better tendered to..
The embarkation was great, the debarkation was fair, according to
flights, and we waited about 1 1/2 hours in a lounge...but
comfortable untill the kids
decided to get up on stage and perform for us..while their
dingbat moma applauded them..the teacher came out in me..I wanted
to get um, but my wife
held me back.
The casino was interesting, beautiful, real tight, but when they
paid they paid..the island casinos (Atlantis and Cable Beach)
were just as tight.
The Cruise Director(Helen Kennedy) good, the young kids did a
super job, and one young lady (something Chance) did a song
called: Never Doubt I love
that was beautiful..The comedy was great, the revue good and the
activities typical ...rush rush, what you expect on a 3/4 day
cruise..cram everything in..
Ship rocked and rolled, the noise level was unreal, running and
loud talking..the wind was bad on the decks, but kept the heat
down..pool was really
crowed..I mean packed..the island though was just great.
Have tons more to tell..but all in all..Step above Carnival, and
Premier..two steps back of HAL..haven't tried Princess yet, its
coming soon/
Cruise value..good, would not hesitate to do it again, only I
would select a better cabin, and ask the travel agent to find out
if any tours or groups of 500
teens was that date and change the date..
anyquestion...send email...
Captain was really friendly, as past sailings with RCCL, you get
Crown and Anchor society benefits (private party with
Captain...and discounts on shipboard
items, and future cruise bargains) nice touch.
The P's in Georgia...happy cruising.
