This was overall an excellent cruise. I thought the dinning staff was incredible as was
the cabin steward. I had no problems with the crew. I thought the
food was good ,especially the pastry and breads. They sometimes used leftovers to make the
lunch dishes but I would send them back with no problem.
One some Island day lunches you could tell crew was trying to get to go ashore and hurried
a bit . Cuarcao- I was not impressed by this fairly dirty oil
production island but the T shirts were cheap. Aruba- I had always dreamed of going there
but it is basically an ugly desert island with what would be
pretty beaches that are so heavily cluttered with hotel umbrellas etc you can't enjoy the
beach. Also the taxis will take you to the beach but won't carry you
back with wet clothes. I finally got back with $20 tip. St. Maarten- Really beautiful
island with fun easily acessed shopping. We took the Golden Eagle
Catamaran excursion with my wife and 11 and 14 yo children. The snorkling was awful, the
music loud, and liquor flowed freely. This was pretty much a
booze cruise for party animals that I would have enjoyed more without children 20 years
ago. The crew was nice if you want a good party. St. Thomas- We
have been to St Thomas 3 times and I feel it is gradually losing its charm and would
recommend peole using St Thomas for shopping and St Johns for the
beaches (trunk bay). This trip we took the sail to buck island and it was
wonderful(highlight of the trip). Great snorkeling with good guide and pretty trip. As
we unloaded at San Juan they had lost one piece of our luggage and finally found it past
customs where someone had taken it by mistake. The cruise staff
off the boat was not that helpful and gave us a lost luggage form to fill out and stated
she did not know what to do but call the 1 800 number of royal
carribean and take it up with them. She says it happenes all the time and seemed pretty
unconcerned. San Juan old city was nice as was the Crown and
Anchor club but it was so packed, finding a seat was difficult at best.
