Rhapsody of the Sea is a grand ship, it seems each cruise we've gone on has been one step
higher than the one before, I can't imagine getting any higher. We
had a decent flight to San Diego from Pittsburgh, PA. once we landed in San Diego it all
seemed to be like the Twilight Zone or a bad slow motion show. We
waited for the bus to take us to the pier, once we got to the pier it was a nightmare,
this had to be the first time since everything was chaos. Finally we were
ready to head to Ensenada atrip in itself, it actually took longer from landing in San
Diego to arriving at the ship in Ensenada than the trip from Pennsylvania to
California, go figure. That was the bad part, everything else was total bliss. Rhapsody of
the Seas is sure a beauty and actually rather easy to aquaint yourself
with. The rooms on the 2nd floor were fine, of course they are nothing grand but unless
you are on your honeymoon or sick how much time do you spend in
your room. Our cabin steward, Jasmina was terrific, she was always around when you needed
her and was a joy to talk with and you never worried about
anything once you left your room. The rooms were always clean and well taken care of. This
was the first time we were totally at sea for so long, it was a blast.
There were a few rocky days but after the first day I never had a moments trouble, I
always am queasy the first day. If you have ever wondered how you would
keep busy with no where to go but somewhere on the ship forget it, we were as busy during
sea days as we were once we hit land. There is so much to do, see
and eat!!!!! We had late seating in the dining room so I never made it to a midnight
buffet, next cruise we will have to try early seating. Our waiter was Imre from
Hungary and his assistant was Kerim from Turkey. Imre was such a great waiter, the food
was there almost before you ordered it, we saw some tables waiting
but we never did. My husband and I are not much for dressing up so we only went to dinner
on one formal night and the next formal night we ate at the
Windjammer, our waiter was so upset we ended up asking him to forgive us for not going to
dinner. I swear there isn't an hour in the day you can't find some
place serving food. There was a pizza and hamburger place in the Solarium that had
wonderful burgers and fries, the pizza was edible but nothing to brag
about. The hot tubs were wonderful, the pools were fine but I'm not a swimmer. We enjoyed
the casino, I won a little my husband lost a little. They had a slot
tournament each day while we were out to sea with a play off of the winners on the last
day at sea, my brother-in-law was lucky enough to come in third place. I
could go on for pages but I guess I shouldn't. If you have any questions please feel free
to e mail me. If you are debating on wether you would have a good time
on a trip like this, you would have to be strange if you didn't. I can't wait until we can
go again, it is time to get the books out and see what we think we can afford
next year.
